Cannot recommend this highly enough. Some astonishingly astute writing, and a respectful use of dialect in the dialogue to indicate different characters‘ personalities.

Also ticks that awkward V letter if you‘re doing #LitsyAtoZ.

This is a solid group of essays. Sure, they were written a bit ago. But, sadly, we are still dealing with the issues she writes about, and plenty have gotten worse since 2016. So they felt relevant for me, even though her featured events are old news. Her writing is readable, but her narration just so-so. I‘m anxious to listen to her podcast, Gaslit Nation though.

LapReader Coal seam gas is currently making its way through one of my sister‘s properties in Australia and they are powerless to stop it despite a united front against it from the community. 2d
BarbaraTheBibliophage @LapReader How awful! There are natural gas pipelines coming through our county. And despite protests, were also stuck. It‘s so sad. 😢 18h

Now this is certainly not your typical run-of-the-mill scifi/dystopian story. I loved the unique world - very imaginative and original. It does take a bit of time to get into. Also, I'm not a fan of the second person perspective. But once you get in the groove, it's quite a ride!

I love me some angsty realistic YA. This reminded me of everything I love about the genre, with some developments I didn't see coming and plenty of romance.

A dark, atmospheric book. It reminds me a bit of Wuthering Heights in that respect. The story was good and there was a surprise reveal at the end. Of course, Rebecca is better, but I enjoyed this one as well.

This was my first Nick Hornby novel and I was surprised how much I liked it. I imagined something indulgently in favor of man-children, and while it's definitely about a man-child, it is about growth and maturity and allowing other people to make you a better person. #litsyatoz @BookishMarginalia
