Perfect read for this time of year! It was beachy but also slightly creepy. It felt like a day at the beach that ends with a storm building up. It did lag toward the middle but the writing was so beautiful that it wasn‘t unpleasant. It was predictable in the ending. The curse didn‘t feel completely formed and planned out either. But all-in-all it was a fun time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

raeintheworld I‘m in the middle of this book right now and it is definitely lagging. 5d

So this month my reading challenge required me to pick a book based on the cover. This is the book I chose. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I‘ve not heard much about it. I‘m only on the second chapter but I am enjoying it so far.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I have this book with a completely different cover! Read it a couple of years back and completely loved it! Gorgeous writing style. If you enjoy it - I recommend reading the novella about Simon‘s parents. 1w
KathyWheeler @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I didn‘t know there was a novella about Simon‘s parents. Off to look for it now. 1w
SoManyBooksNotEnoughTime I haven't read this yet but I'm adding it to my tbr now, because I really liked another book of hers- "Light From Other Stars" 1w

I am afraid to say that I didn‘t like The Diviners as much as I wanted to. It was such a hyped book and it had everything I loved, so in theory I should have loved it. My main problem was Evie. I really could not connect with her. She was a bit on the bratty and selfish side. While she saw some character growth it was not enough for me to like her. I understand it‘s the start of the series but I probably won‘t continue on.
⭐️⭐️

alisonrose I enjoyed this mostly but definitely agree that Evie was not a fave. I think that‘s what has kept me from picking up the second book, although I probably will at some point. Maybe she‘ll have matured a bit in that one 😬 1w
Aaronlisa I liked this book but the second one is killing me because of Evie. I get stuck every time the story focuses on her. 1w

Doing my May wrap up a day early because I am going to be tied up tomorrow. I had a great reading month. I read eight books total. 3 e-books. 5 physical. The three e-books were Goosebump books that satisfied my reading challenge of the month, which was read three books by the same author. Reading Goosebumps made me feel nostalgic and really took me back to the root of where my reading obsession began.
Favorite of the month: Throne of Glass

Too much love triangle, not enough monster. The main character was undeveloped and showed very little character growth. Her inside dialogue was focused almost solely on the love interest leaving very little room for a complex plot. The ending seemed extremely rushed and contrived. ⭐️⭐️

Dysphoria was interesting. The first 100 pages I was very confused. I didn‘t feel like I had a grasp on anything. I found all of the characters dislikable and over dramatic. Then the next 100 pages came together and was very action packed. It was both disturbing and heartbreaking.

The Invited is proof that renovations sometimes brings out the worst. Except this time it‘s paranormal. Kinda unnerving since we are remodeling our bathroom. This book is so unique. It‘s like a summer storm. You feel it building then all of a sudden it‘s finished. It twisted and turned the entire book and left me guessing. I did guess the ending but it was still awesome. I was going to just do a series review for this series. That will be on its way soon. I thought since there is some negativity around this book I would give my thoughts specifically on this one. Many people found that this book really didn‘t expand the plot of the series. That is a fair statement. It did little plot wise but it was so refreshing seeing the characters enjoy a holiday together and just relax after the events of the last book. 5/5

A spooky historical fiction is exactly what I have been craving. The first half of the book was dramatic and unsettling. I felt as if I were in Willow Hall with Lydia. My only complaint is that midway through it turned to more of a romance and had less paranormal aspects.
