I‘m back after taking a break while slumping. I really need to pick better books….
I was really bored during this one. More of the same and there was really no character development either. I‘m wondering if I would enjoy this series more if I didn‘t leave so much time between picking them up but I really don‘t know.
I have the next book Light Bringer so I‘ll be reading it and then see if I want to continue when Red God is finally released.
Currently Reading
My favorite way to read is by following along with the audio.
I was working on The Shadow Rising but wasn‘t able to finish before the audio had to go back to the library. Thankfully my hold for the audio of Dark Age came in just before so I can read that while I wait for The Shadow Rising to come back to me.
I'm not being melodramatic when I say that I will NEVER recover from this book. If it were possible, I would confiscate these characters from Brown until he learns how to treat them better. I can't believe he killed my favourite character! Despite all of that, I will never stop singing the praises of this series (apparently, I'm a sucker for punishment because this is my favourite instalment). I will say, be VERY mindful of the trigger warnings.
I really enjoyed this book because I was very intrigued early on and then I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the character development of Lysander and I enjoy reading from perspectives of both sides of a conflict. There were a lot of plot twists I didn't expect and I'm excited to read the next book. I want to see if Sevro survived and what will happen between Darrow and Cassius.
They turn their glowing evil red eyes toward .e, and I laugh when they do not fire, for I am a spirit warrior and I point my rifle at them, pull the trigger, and shit down my leg, because I am alone amongst a pack of hunterkiller robots and it is no rifle in my hand, it is only a mop. P. 350
This was epic, action packed and absolutely heartbreaking. I am very glad I waited until the next book was out before reading this one. If I didn‘t have several library holds up I would go right to Light Bringer, but I definitely want to see what happens next in this fantastic space opera. 5⭐️
#SummerEndReadathon
I think I pulled a muscle with this stretch for the August #titlesandtunes theme, so bear with me. #theworldismyOYSTER ➡️ Blue OYSTER Cult ➡️ (Don‘t Fear) THE REAPER ➡️ Darrow of Lykos aka THE REAPER ➡️ Dark Age.
I went with Dark Age instead of Light Bringer, because I‘ll reread Dark Age in August, but won‘t get to Light Bringer.
I've read this series before but my partner and I just listened to them together! It was great. I am looking forward to Lightbringer!

ANNOUNCEMENTS. COMING. IN. JULY.
Literary mayhem? Yes please! Cannot wait!!!
Not Dark Age…but maybe something even better…NEWS ABOUT A DRAFT OF THE NEXT BOOK!!! This most excellent news comes from Brown‘s Instagram. Definitely sounds as if we are a step closer to getting the next book and I, for one, couldn‘t be more excited!!! (Seriously, look at me using all the exclamation points!)
So. Excited.
Can. Not. Wait.
I just can‘t choose between Dark Age and Ophie‘s Ghosts for #12booksof2021 #may. They were both 5 star reads, but very different. I loved Ophie‘s story and loved the reading experience. Dark Age, like the entire series, is an incredible, well-written roller coaster, but exhausting. I felt worn out by the time it was over.
Getting to the end of a Red Rising novel is like surviving the Passage. There have been many tears, moments of hope (to quote Ted Lasso: it‘s the hope the kills you), a few laughs, and even a moment that made me scream and caused my household, dog included, to come running to see if I was okay. I‘m exhausted and I‘m not ready for the final book. Take your time, Pierce. I know it will be bloodydamn brilliant when it comes.

There's nothing about this series I haven't already said, but yet again, Pierce Brown has written an amazing story full of heart and action, and I loved it. 💚
“‘Man?‘ Screwface laughs. ‘Hic est Lupus, motherf*cker.‘”
Gods, I love this series. 🖤
“But you don‘t get the wolf by the tongue without reaching through its teeth.” 🐺
“I once thought the greatest sin of war was violence. It isn‘t. The greatest sin is it requires good men to become practical.”
I think I‘m finally ready for the heartbreak of DARK AGE, but maybe not. I‘m on chapter three and I sobbed my way through the prologue and chapter one. This is going to hurt.
(Also, is Pierce Brown trying to be GRRM, Jr? Is he ever going to give us the last book?? 😭😭)
Pierce Brown lives to torture his readers, you must endure much suffering for this series, there will be gasps, tears, and screams. I love it anyways but be prepared.
This series is all the feels😩 generally don‘t like when a series goes to a new generation but I‘m still quite invested in it! Now just to remember everything that happened before the last book comes out😬😩 #redrisingseries #darkage #waitingonbook6
I started out with the audiobook and promptly turned it off and pulled my hard copy from the shelf. They torched Lysander's voice. Idk why they would change the voice actor like that, it completely altered his character.
Making my way to the conclusion. This one has been a ride. Enjoying the beach on Labor Day pretending tomorrow isn‘t happening. 🥺
Last Friday before it‘s back to work time 😬😬😬 #currentlyreading #currentlydrinking
So, think I‘m gonna need to buy a new copy of this cause it is in tatters, much like the Rising 😱
Squeezing in all the beach days I can. Excited to delve back into the Red Rising world. #currentlyreading
I feel like this audiobook is taking me forever. To be fair it is almost 34hrs long & I generally only listen to it when I am covering books at work so...it kind of is 🤷♀️. I decided to switch to the ebook for awhile & things are definitely progressing much faster.
It took me a couple of days after finishing this book to get here. In typical P. Brown fashion, I felt angry, sad and dirty at the end. I struggled through it for personal reasons, but I‘m glad I made it. This series truly is worth the praise from the drooling fans. The world is amazing! The story, with its sadness and curves draws you in and makes you care. It also tangles your brain. I love it. Can‘t wait for the finale!
Family vacation begins...Long car ride is the perfect time to start a new audiobook 😜
I‘ve been reading this (on and off) for 6 months now! Sheesh! It‘s not that it isn‘t great. It is. It‘s powerful and exciting and heartbreaking. I just have not had any time to read. This series is like GoT though, so it‘s hard to remember all the characters and politics if you don‘t keep fresh. Halfway though it now though and on a good streak. Should finish it in two weeks. 😂🤞🏻
Only took me 9 months and a global pandemic but I'm finally starting this one. My husband was so excited when he saw me reading it. He can't wait to talk about it. 😆
I think I'm bias with this series, because when I started Red Rising, it blew my mind! I had never read anything like it ever before. Star Wars meets Game of Thrones, it was awesome! This book was no exception. Although, it's been awhile since I've read one of the Red Rising novel, and like GoT there are a ton of characters!!! So it was hard keeping them all straight at first, and also like GoT this one was really steeped in politics.

📘 Dark Age had been on my list since it came out. I have just not been in the mood to read it yet.
📘 Fear and Greed.
📘 No plans. I am home today with a bad cold so I just want to rest and feel better.
📘 No ❄, but freezing rain is in the forecast for tomorrow. I would rather have the snow.
#bookhaul from last year that I forgot about. Sometimes I go a bit crazy with book buying. 😬
It was a long haul with this book. Started and stopped a couple of times. However, I loved it. Very violent, but exciting, surprising, and sad. To enjoy this book you must know the characters and plot lines in the last four books. I think of this series of the sci-fi Game of Thrones. So you know what you are getting.
Very early Saturday basketball practice. I thought this would be a good opportunity to finish this book but there are balls flying everywhere. I might be risking my life by trying to read! 😂😂
How I am spend the next couple of hours! #gusthepug #dogsoflitsy
Returning to Litsy after a long break. Writing a textbook, working a full-time job, being a mother of two makes it hard to up. But I missed Litsy. Today I am spending my last day of winter break with some tea and a long book. I will finish it soon!
There it is. 196 books read in 2019. My last book read was the audiobook Dirty Billionaire by Meghan March. The first book was Ruin and Rising by Leigh Bardugo. The longest was Dark Age by Pierce Brown at 757 pages.

I preordered this one but have yet to be in the mood for it.
My favorite of the series so far! Love the complexity of all the characters. It‘s grown to epic proportions in terms of plot, world, characters, and themes. It did take me forever to get through but it was totally worth it.
Science fiction at its absolute best. The books in this series have all been thrilling to read. The writing beautiful. The story compelling. I‘m excited to start the latest in the series.
