It was between the tagged book and the first four books in The Babysitters Club that were my favourite books as a kid. Read those series more or less between grade 2 and grade 6. I read the Ramona books simply because it was the same name as my maternal grandma‘s. #sundayfunday

I have read 60 of these. I would have done better if I or my kids had been into the Moomins (so many Moomins on this list!), but I had nearly a clean sweep of the third page. Faves: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Winnie-the-Pooh (Milne only...accept no substitutes!), and From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.
The list is missing Beverly Cleary, which is a travesty.

pickI so loved this book at a child. Actually I acted just like her. 🤣. I needed to read “a book published the year I was born” for a challenge (pop sugar challenge) I‘ve been doing with a friend. And this was the only one that appealed to me. I was so glad I read it again.

pickI never read the Ramona books as a kid, and I‘m not sure why! The adults in my life might have deemed her too “sassy.” 😆 Or (not unrelatedly) she might have intimidated my shy, pleaser kid self. Anyway, my grownup self enjoyed this and finds her adorable, and Stockard Channing‘s narration was great.
Thank you Beverly Cleary for Ramona Quimby, Beezus, and Henry and Ribsy, and for making me laugh and helping build my love for reading. Rest In peace and so much love.

Whilst we did enjoy this, Beatrix and I both decided to take a break before we read the last two in the series. This book was a little more melancholy than the previous titles - I was sorry when Ramona overheard her teacher referring to her as a nuisance and had to hold back tears when Ramona‘s mother came to get her from school when she was sick, after Ramona had assumed she would not be able to leave work. Ramona is growing up.
I tagged Ramona because I WAS Ramona but also included Leslie Knope because that's ALL ME as an adult. 🙃
1) I played volleyball and basketball. I will watch pretty much any sport. ESPN can just play all day and I'm happy. I married a baseball player though so I'm a die-hard LA Dodger fan. 💙 #webleedblue
2) My family. I've had vertigo for almost 2 weeks and they have taken such great care of me. ❤️

pickPoor Ramona! She wants to be good (mostly), but kindergarten brings so many temptations. Who can blame her for wanting to tug on the very curly hair of another little girl? But when her be,over teacher tells her she can‘t come back to class if she won‘t stop, what will Ramona do?
This was one beloved character that inspired me throughout my childhood. As an avid reader turned author, I believe writing children's books can be the best gift we can give to children. Ramona Quimby has always been a favorite character of mine indeed. I read other books about the beloved character, but this book is where it all begins for me to love her. Thank you, Beverly Clearly.

So this happened... I was reading Ramona to my kindergarteners and I was on the Halloween chapter. Ramona was running around yelling, "I'm the baddest witch in the world!!" So I yelled it, only I didn't say "witch"... I instantly realized my mistake as my students started saying, "You said a bad word!!" and "My sister calls my mom that!" Luckily, no phone calls from angry parents yet wondering why I'm cursing at their kids...?
My daughter named her owl Dish Network which I love because it reminds me of Ramona and her doll Chevrolet.

pickOh, Ramona. Kindergarten drop-out with a doll named Chevrolet and singing about the dawnzer lee light, you hold up to my memories. I cannot believe how long ago this was written because it really does not feel dated, other than in a few small instances that are easily forgiven. Beverly Cleary was ahead of her time, and Ramona is a timeless character.
Parker and I listened to this today and yesterday. I enjoyed it. I loved these books as a kid. I couldn't tell if she liked it. #audio #ramona #beverlycleary

Even though I was the youngest in my family, I was more of a well-behaved Beezus-type--but I wanted to be more imaginative, adventurous and even a bit bratty like Ramona. 😆These are just some of the books in the series and some of my favorites.

I love reminiscing with these books. And that they're so quick and easy to read.
Beverly Cleary was one of the most influential #womenwriters of my childhood. This book in particular was my favorite and I was thrilled to find an image of my cover. I might need to go back and do a Cleary re-read.

In honor of my inability to adult, I'm serving up my favorite fictional child for TBT. I love Ramona because she is so real, and her family and their struggles are real, in a way that lots of kid lit isn't anymore. Ramona is spunky and funny and exactly the kind of kid I love.
This was the first Beverly Cleary book I ever read, and it hooked me. Thank you, Beverly Cleary!
