I am sorry to those who love it; apparently, I am in the minority.
The first 75% of the book was kind of meh. The last 25% felt like a steaming pile of BS.
*SPOILER* "I thought she was you" has to be one of the most pathetic excuses for infidelity ever. It would have been more forgivable if he had just owned up to getting super drunk and making a bad choice. When they finally discuss it, 11 years later, she accepts this as a reasonable excuse. ?
Ugly cried while finishing this today, and my baby brought me tissues, and cuddled me through it.
Feeling like the luckiest Momms ever. ❤️
I loved this book!! It‘s a friends-to-lovers romance but also a second chance at love story too. So good!

Finished one book club book. Now on to the next, just in time for Valentine‘s Day!
Gonna start this book today! End of the month of a new year, people start tweeting their reading brackets. Always felt reading brackets are rather not helpful, at least for me. Because I seem to have like four favourite books per month, sometimes even more.
My bad, ig.
A friend/colleague went on a romance binge before Christmas and was handing me her finished ones at a rate of about one per day 😂. I told her I have a love/hate relationship with romance, so I don't read them as often, and it will take a while to get through. This was the 1st of approx 20 she's given me, and I picked a great one to start with! I loved it! The mc's were likable, & the alternating chapters between present and past worked well!
What a beautiful story of love and perseverance. You can feel the love between these two from the second they meet! A feel-good, Nicholas Sparks-esque love story for the ages.
Current read. Sitting on my patio enjoying the beautiful day.
Reread of one of my favorite books of all time. So beautiful and heart wrenching. The male protagonist was so much more caring and loving than any real man could ever be. Also obsessed with the he loves her so much more trope. Restores my faith in love and makes my heart feel so full
Currently reading this one. I‘m enjoying it. It‘s good so far. It switches back and forth between then and now. When it goes back in time, we learn more about the history between the two main characters, Macy and Elliot. They have quite a history. What I love about them is that they love reading as much as I do. That‘s awesome! How often do you find books with characters who love to read? 😊❤️

Wow! What a great read. I think everyone should read this. True love that grows and heals with time.
It‘s nice to have someone who you trust who know exactly how you think - as long as you‘re on good terms with them ☺️
Coincidentally, th two protagonists‘s birthdays are within a week of my sister‘s and mine, respectively

I am SO mad that I didn‘t get around to this one sooner. The alternating chapters depicting past/present gave the story a more meaningful presence as it forced you to connect with the characters on a deeper level. The writing itself was flawlessly done; I found myself tearing up at the last few chapters. I truly felt as though I could feel Macy‘s love and pain through the pages. Such a heartbreakingly beautiful story. A definite must read!
I don't give out 5 stars very often, but this was that good. It's becoming harder for me as I get older to really like a romance book because so many of the scenarios seem ridiculous. This has the right combination of all my favorite things in a romance. I really wish I hadn't read 'Every Summer After' before this. Quite a lot of similarities.
"Why can‘t everyone be like you?”
“I can be enough of your world that it feels like everyone is."
Macy runs into Elliot, her first & only love. The then & now timelines outline their growing friendship & lead up to the moment he broke her heart yrs ago. Why did he break her heart? Will they get back together?
I enjoyed this book so much. It‘s my best read of 2023 so far. I loved the switching timelines; it had that building love momentum that was accomplished better than People We Meet on Vacation. It made the plot & characters better.

I absolutely loved the chemistry between the main characters. I definitely need a POV from Elliot.

This book is about childhood lovers who meet again when they are middle aged. Each chapter switches from now, to 15 years ago. They attempt to catch each other up on all the missing time they have spent apart. As the book continues, they slowly uncover how the two fall in love, while also giving us a sneak peak on their lives 15 years later after falling out of love. But the question is...did they ever stop loving each other.
This is my new favorite book. I read it in one day and ignored all my responsibilities to finish it! The love story between Elliot & Macy is so pure until it‘s not.
I‘ve added these two #childhoodsweethearts novels to my TBR. Both sound great!

This has been on my TBR for FAR too long, but I am FINALLY picking it up tonight ❤️
Just wanted to emphasize some appreciation for this cover, it‘s SO cute!
Also, I wanted to make sure people are aware that the 5 books I‘m posting about today have NOT been read yet!
(my cat Olive wanted to pop in, too)
4 out of 5 new books achieved
Very well known on Tiktok, this book was just the adorable romance I think I needed to branch out of the dark trenches of mystery. I especially love how it mentions sharing an appreciation for literature and words 💘
I absolutely loved this book. I don‘t usually give romance books (other then Jane Austen) a 5 star but I adored this book and the characters. Their book closet library, the slow reveal of their history and the feelings that come with “your person”. I also loved how well the secondary characters play a role in the book without taking attention away from the primary story. It was masterfully written and untangled. I highly recommend it.
Macy‘s father buys a cabin for weekend getaways & Elliott is the boy nextdoor. They bond over their love of books. The plot flips between present day, where they are estranged, & their teen years, culminating in the night that drove a wedge between them. There is an intimacy between the two that radiates from the page. With the details they share & their honesty with each other it‘s easy to slide into their world and understand their connection.
The one that "Bookstagram made me buy it" is this one.
It is definitely overhyped, I must say. From my perspective, the plot is plain and without any hooks.
It's not something I have a lot to say. The book is average in interest—neither it's dull nor particularly engaging.
So good! Heartbreaking, tentative, a love story for readers. ❤️❤️❤️
Wow. This book completely lived up to my expectations. I finished it within 6 hours, because I literally couldn‘t put it down. It was the perfect end to my summer romance purge, and a story I won‘t forget. 5/5 ⭐️
I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH. It is genuinely one of the best books I have read. I found it was kind of slow at the start but when it picks up it‘s so good. Just be ready to cry ❤️
Perfect summer read- loved it! Really built the tension and culminated in the most satisfying ending!
I had the day off, so I spent it reading this book. I loved Elliott and Macy, both as young teens and as adults. The various relationships shown in this book - friends, family and co-workers - were realistic. It was also realistic that in relationships, someone is always the casualty… the one not chosen, the one left behind, etc. Love takes bravery and a healthy dose of trust. Beautiful story!!
I think this was one of the saddest CL books I‘ve read. The characters were so beautiful, and Macy + Elliot‘s friendship grew so naturally that their fallout hurt thrice as much. The layers and layers of grief and trauma are pounded in these pages (though it‘s sad that the horrible truth about Christian‘s party - including crying during the “next time” - wasn‘t acknowledged past what it meant for their relationship). And the last line?? 😭💙🫠
Ok?? WHAT THE 🦆😭😭😭😭😭😭 IM DESTROYED???? I AM LITERALLY GUTTED. “Favorite word??” “YOU”???? And I‘m supposed to GO ON WITH LIFE AFTER THIS????? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I loved loved loved this book ❣️ the main characters are 2 bookworms who spend their teen years reading together, they share their hopes, dreams, secrets with each other. They are each other's best friend until they aren't. I found myself smiling as I was reading this book, I really love a book with bookloving characters. The interweaving of past and present timelines kept me hoping it would end how I wanted it to. A delightful read. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
SURPRISE!
#LMPBC #GroupJ I hope you folx don't mind that I let other people write in our book, but when I saw that Christina Lauren was going to be in Ohio I couldn't resist going and having our book signed! They were completely charmed by the idea of a postal book club. 🧡

Y‘all I‘ve had a love hate relationship with these authors. I wanted to like their books as they always sounded fun but in the end never connected with their characters. This time I was there for this entire friends to lovers romance. Macy and Elliot grabbed me from page one. Highly recommend this one for a light fun read! #romantsy #mayreading.
Floofy and I think it‘s time to read something light and fun. So we are going to give these authors a second chance with this title. We are hoping this is a win. Haven‘t been a huge fan in the past. #romantsy
I picked this up yesterday thinking I'd read a few chapters over the weekend. Well, I just finished it... I loved it! @peanutnine @GondorGirl @Shadowfat #lmpbc I'll get it in the mail sometime this week!
