I enjoyed this book. I liked the friendship that developed between the two main characters and their love interests. I thought they all showed growth. The magical elements in this book was much more subtle than other books I've read by the author, and I wish there had been just a bit more of that. However, the writing was beautiful. It was a good end of summer read.

I slept until noon today. The past two weeks have been hard at work and I needed lots of rest. The only thing I've been doing is reading and loving on my cats. Time well spent.

Starting this book on this cloudy morning. This will be my last "summer" read. I'm getting tired of the lighter reads and want spooky books or books that feel like autumn. This book has a found skeleton, a mystery, and family secrets so I'm hoping it will be a good transition book.

Enjoyed listening to this one all in one day as I walked, washed dishes and cooked for the upcoming week. An entertaining southern tale full of romance, mystery and friendship. Not heavy or complicated, I appreciated the struggles of the 30+ aged characters as they tried to discover their lives and roles upon returning to their hometown.

Working on a Saturday is not my idea of a good time but my day started with the car in front of me paying for my latte and I came home to surprise bookmail. Can‘t complain when the work is bookended by such kindness. Thank you @Jas16 for this book from my TBR. I am looking forward to reading it and appreciate you thinking of me. 💜💜💜

Told from two different perspectives in the third person POV, that right from the start what I think won't work, does and it's intriguing as the story develops and the differences between them is just what the other characters needs without realizing it. What I thought was a small connection between them, is so much grander than I could have expected, which in turn made everything else more interesting and reminded me of Allen's other books.

This was a fun, lighthearted read and makes me dream about long summer days. ☀️

I was exceptionally entertained and excited by this story. Sarah Addison Allen is a fun discovery. I learned about her through a few fans of Menna Van Praag.

I didn't feel excitement and anticipation until half way through. Yet, after some time I felt such dedicationfor the characters and the unfolding narrative. Mystery, love, friendship, family. Risk-taking for happiness, achieving self-love. ♥️

"Coffee...was tied to all sorts of memories, different for each person. Sunday mornings, friendly get-togethers, a favorite grandfather long since gone, the AA meeting that saved their life. Coffee meant something to people. Most found their lives were miserable without it.

Beach Read - I read this year. Loved it and needed it. I didn‘t expect to read it in a day, but I had the time.

A Burning - I read this year in a day also. It was okay. The writing was really simple, so it was a fast read.

The Peach Keeper - I read a few years ago on a summer weekend. This book was really good. I love Sarah Addison Allen

I always find Sarah Addison Allen‘s books to be comforting, easy reads and this was no exception. While not my favorite of hers, I enjoyed this town and its characters. I just wish there had been more about the grandmothers and club women and less about the romantic interests.

This one has been on my TBR shelves for a long time! Glad to have finally read some Sarah Addison Allen! Reminds me of Susanna Kearsley, who I really enjoy, because of the magical realism, the multiple timelines, and the tones of the stories. I‘ll definitely pick up another book by this author for something easy to read and enjoyable!

Really liked the book. The author is definitely a favorite of mine.

I love some of this author‘s books, but this one was just not the same for me. I wanted more of the story of the grandmothers. The story of Pax and Willa was good, but I feel like there was a lot of possibility that was lost by bringing out the grandmother‘s story so slowly. And the Sebastian/Pax storyline made me very squidgy. This is my about a family book for #popsugarreadingchallenge

I had every intention of reading this book slowly and finishing it on January 1st to kick off the #newyearwhodis event. However, @Laughterhp made such a good recommendation that I read this in less than 24 hours. I struggled with putting it down. Here‘s to reading more wonderful books next month!

⭐⭐⭐/5: I was looking to read Garden Spells, but Barnes and Noble didn't have it, so I grabbed this one instead. I wasn't that impressed. I enjoyed the whimsical parts, wanted more of the mystery, and didn't care for the romance and happily ever after ending. I just don't like romances or "happy" books; tragedy, angst, turmoil, complexity and depth of characterization are what I like in my books. So, it wasn't "bad", just not for me.

I didn‘t like this one as much as Garden Spells, but it is a magical story of love and friendship set in Walls of Water , North Carolina. There‘s an irresistible beta male character that I‘m crushing on. ( I read a lot of Georgette Heyer as a kid 😀)

Tonight‘s audiobook. 🍑

The book was only okay. I enjoy Allen‘s use of what I think of as magical realism lite, but this particular story didn‘t have quite enough of the usual charm and whimsy. It felt a little uninspired. Not horrible, but not particularly interesting or memorable. The picture is unrelated - just a fun snap my daughter took at the Detroit Festival of Books this past weekend.

I totally should have been reading for school. But I was feeling stressed. And tired. And just needed a guaranteed magical, happy read. And it was. I love The stories Sarah Addison Allen writes. They just feel good to read.

I LOVE Sarah Addison Allen‘s books, and now I‘m finally reading the last one of hers I needed to catch up... and I‘m loving it as much as the others!

This is the first book that came to mind for today‘s prompt #Secret. The little town of Walls of Water, in North Carolina, is thick with secrets.

This cozy ghost story seemed like an appropriate choice with Halloween around the corner. I love this book so much! The prose are beautiful. The use of small town folk lore as a means for both setting the scenes and adding depth to the story is so well done. The friendships in this book are amazing! Throw in the ghost of a traveling sales man, a twist or two, and an incident involving pepper spray and a midnight wine run, and you've got 5/5 ✨

Finished up the last two hours of this while pricing a ton of books at work! Didn't like it quite as well as The Girl Who Chased the Moon, but still really good! #behindthescenesatBookmans
