A chilling mystery where nothing is what it seems and everyone is a suspectEighteen-year-old Jill Charron wakes up in a hospital room, leg in a cast, stitches in her face and a big blank canvas where the last six weeks should be. She comes to discover she was involved in a fatal accident while on a school trip in Italy three days previous but was jetted home by her affluent father in order to receive quality care. Care that includes a lawyer. And a press team. Because maybe the accident . . . wasn't just an accident. But with no memory of what happened and what she actually did, can Jill really prove her innocence?

#BookishGoal 43*)

The book has less than the 280 pages displayed and you think you read a standard-plotted Highschool novel with not too cliché-made characters – but then …

Well, I didn‘t expect the ending because I didn‘t think Eileen Cook would dare this … But the ending is a well set punch line and therefore the book‘s a „Pick“ even though the last half page is a bit far-fetched.

*) With „Das Spiel der Nachtigall“ and this one done.

„Ich schluckte und war völlig groggy. Sogar meine Haut fühlte sich müde an.“ (Seite 4)

“I swallowed and felt completely groggy. Even my skin felt tired.” (p. 4)

⬆️⬆️⬆️ I never have had skin that feels tired but it sounds like something one should at least once have experienced.

But he also is a steady player when it comes to the World Championship

So I‘m completely unsure when I will finally start this book that lingers untouched on my ebook-reader for about two weeks. 😇

It _sounds_ interesting.
But at the moment Snooker rules. 🤷🏽‍♀️😃

I checked this out of the library at 4pm and had finished it by 9:30 in between doing saxophone and piano practice, English homework and having tea.

It's a page turner and easy to read which is a good combination in my opinion (or bad depending if I have other things I should be doing!)

Recieved: The Book Drop subscrition box

This book was a lot of fun to read! I feel like this would be a good summer read for on the beach or traveling to a new part of the world. If you like true crime or thrillers, this would be a good one for you. I kept wanting to read more and unravel the mystery :)

I listened to the audiobook of this story, which is loosely based on the Amanda Knox case. (I was obsessed with that case!) It was an entertaining listening experience. The book kept me guessing even after I finished the story. The cover is also really pretty!

Jill is in the hospital with a head injury and without any memory of what happened on her trip to Italy. But she knows two things: Her best friend is dead. And people think she did it.

Jill tries to piece together her story at the same time the media and everyone else is constructing one of their own. I didn't love this but it did keep me completely riveted for a while. I was expecting a lot from the ending though, and was left unsatisfied.

This was clearly inspired by the whole Amanda Knox thing. Jill wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the past month. Her best friend died in a car accident they were both involved in during a school trip to Italy. Was Jill responsible? (Hey that's a pretty good summary!). Anyway, I really liked it.

Another book read as an iBook! This one is pretty much a quick read and I personally found it quite entertaining. Not too fond of the ending, but did like that it ended that way (does that even make sense?). At the end of the day, I do have to say I enjoyed it much more than expected!

I decided last night to read the book I won during the last #24in48! Thank you again to @hmhbooks for the book prize! Sadly I didn't love this book. It was quick and engaging but I did not enjoy the ending or the characters very much- they felt a bit overly campy to me. I wouldn't really recommend this book unless you wanted to rip through something quick and are a fan of YA.

I spent most of this just waiting for the big reveal, reading quickly to discover the next secret that would be uncovered. I wish I had loved all the parts in between, too! But, alas.

Megabooks I agree! 3y
KilgoreTrout @Ebooksandcooks what did you think of the end?? I guess I understand why books intentionally leave things vague but I wanted clear answers!! 3y
Megabooks Yes, I didn't like the unanswered questions either. I kept expecting she'd come up with something decent, but instead, you never really find out if the MC is guilty. I think I remember assuming she is at least somewhat culpable, but even though I just read the book in November, I've shelved it way back in my brain! 3y

YA thrillers are interesting. They're sort of "mystery-lite". A few I've read- Complicit, We Were Liars, for example- that are good reads even while my thriller experienced brain sees all the twists a mile away. This book was no exception to that. However, it has a great commentary on truth and justice. It has a fantastic storytelling method and the writing is beautiful. I loved the narration, I felt I could connect easily to the character.

MyNamesParadise I LOVED this book so much!!! Such a good read and great ending! 3y
