It‘s not too important but I noticed that by finishing this one yesterday I have already reached my #BookishGoal.

Remember, I wanted to diminish the media (ebooks and audiobooks) on my online library‘s wish list to 42. Well, after I started on 31st December/1st January at 84 items – here I am now . 🎩😊

julesG 🎉🎉🎉 5y
Buechersuechtling @julesG Thank you. Thank you. – *takes bows in all directions* 😉 5y
vumblereads Oh gosh ever since I subscribed to #BookBub, I‘ve been getting more and more ebooks on my kindle. And so not only to I have a stack of physical books that I still need to read, I have a shitload of ebooks on my kindle too. But the ebooks are mostly free so I‘m not feeling too guilty I guess. 5y

Mehso-so

Quickly read, sweet and heart-warming read but too predictable.

I liked it for the passion for food and the power everyone has to change things, that the plot shows. But at the same time it was too simple for me.

It‘s sweet with charming ideas. That‘s why I liked it. But it‘s clearly for a younger audience. That‘s why I lower my sights. At least for an adult read.

#BookishGoal 43*)

The book has less than the 280 pages displayed and you think you read a standard-plotted Highschool novel with not too cliché-made characters – but then …

Well, I didn‘t expect the ending because I didn‘t think Eileen Cook would dare this … But the ending is a well set punch line and therefore the book‘s a „Pick“ even though the last half page is a bit far-fetched.

*) With „Das Spiel der Nachtigall“ and this one done.

#BookishGoal 46 Another ➕1️⃣ on my online library‘s wish list. A light read but I liked the outline of the plot: He is doing a romantic radio series for years now and his boss forces him to take a break so that he can re-discover his romantic side. He doesn‘t know how to do but suddenly meets her who knows about romance and has just opened a small music store – without knowing much about music.

So it seems they both profit from having met.

New in on my online library‘s wish list. So figures rising again.
#BookishGoal 45.

Looking forward to this audiobook – even if I still got 15 hours on „Das Lied der Nachtigall“. 😊 But I liked “Girl On The Train” a whole lot.

rretzler I didn‘t love this one like I loved The Girl on the Train, but it was still a good read. 5y
Buechersuechtling @rretzler I read „Girl On The Train“ shortly before this one came out, so I can‘t count how many times I stood in the bookstore keeping myself from buying it. So I am a bit happy about my discipline and about that I accidentally found the audiobook at my library. 😊 5y
rretzler That‘s great! I seldom have that kind of discipline! 5y
Buechersuechtling @rretzler I really love books and reading but I am also sensible because I know myself and I know that most of the books I only read once. So afterwards I carry them to a public bookcase. Additionally, I bring to my mind how many books in my library I haven‘t read it yet and that also keeps me from buying books only because in that moment I want to read them or only because “everybody” is talking about them. 5y

@Moony ‘s review made me curious. 😄

Before, I always overlooked or ignored the audiobook. 🤷🏽‍♀️

So now it‘s #BookishGoal ➕1️⃣ again: 44.

Moony Oh I'm curious about your opinion! 5y
Buechersuechtling @Moony I will let you know. But it will take a while. I‘m nowhere near half through “Das Spiel der Nachtigall” which is my current audiobook. It has 32 hours (really, no mistake) of playing time. 5y
Moony @Buechersuechtling wow. That are many hours... 5y
Buechersuechtling @Moony Yes, but interesting so far. Doesn‘t at all feel like about eleven hours are over. 5y

Bailedbailed

I was really looking forward to this book but it‘s a bail for me after only 33 pages. Mainly because the protagonist babbles. She babbles a huge ton and if I am annoyed who herself sometimes tends to babbling that tells you much.

I wasn‘t willing to bear this – plus the uncounted footnotes (not good in an e-book) for 300 pages.

To those who finished the book: Please let me know what the big insight is.

Moony Thats pitty. :( Next one will be better! 5y
Buechersuechtling @Moony Yepp. Although I tell everyone constantly that bailing is okay, I‘m often hesitating. So I‘m a bit proud that I decided quickly this time. And yes, next one will be better – especially because I already picked my next book. Which is what I always do, I don‘t always start the new pick right away but I most of the time need to pick a new read immediately after finishing the old one. 5y

Difficult to rate for me. I can‘t be as “objective“ or as open-minded as usual.

It‘s not only that teenie-problems-universe. It‘s that I don‘t like most of the characters. They are all too unreasonable and I perfectly stick to Sara‘s father. I can‘t be tolerant. So it‘s no surprise that I don‘t like the end.

But I definitely honour the effort to deal with this subject. It‘s not the book‘s or author‘s fault that I am prejudiced.

It‘s #BookishGoal 45 now.

I liked the audiobook, Whoopi Goldberg‘s German voice-over artist was a great ear-catcher. The story is very strong when it comes to describing the social situation at that time (which is not so long ago 🤔). Then it‘s touching and left me handshaking – because racial segregation is so absurd to me.

But also it felt a bit long here and there even though I can‘t put my finger on why.

With finishing this audiobook I‘m at #BookishGoal 46 although it will remain on my online library‘s wish list. ☺️
