Some dark academia for October. Clare begins at Edinburgh University and swiftly befriends a group led by enigmatic Tabitha. For once she fits in. But slowly they become more controlling, whilst at the same time we learn of Clare‘s murky past. This was pleasantly unpleasant and the tension ramps up nicely, building to a suitably unpleasant ending. Only complaint is the group is so awful/privileged they‘re mainly irritating!

I am switching to the fourth book for #10beforetheend this weekend.

The Underground Railroad has been fantastic so far and deeply moving, but I just can't with any more white supremacist filth this week, even in a book like this. 💔💔 I will return to it soon.

@ChaoticMissAdventures

ChaoticMissAdventures I am also struggling with a book that is hitting too close to home this week. Got to find those more hopeful and escapist ones. 12mo
Balibee146 @ChaoticMissAdventures it's so hard. I'm in the UK, I can't begin to imaging how decent people in the US are feeling right now 🙏🙏 12mo

So, it starts on a dark note preparing you for a twisted tale of unreliable characters with secrets and devious minds.

The story is filled with suspense and foreboding as you wait for the story to unfold revealing sinister obsessions and alluring toxic characters.

Unfortunately, this story resonated as a familiar story for me which held my interest but felt like the characters needed more dimension.

This was my January #Goldsboro book that just arrived the other day due to their postal issue. This was a really fast-paced psychological thriller.

This book is about a group of college students who start a company based on revenge which spirals out of control. It has The Secret History vibes but is not quite as epic. If you like a psychological thriller with a fairly fast pace, this might be for you.

Pub date is 1/10/2023. (2023?! What!?)

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! (Also not remotely ready for 2023 to be a real date 😂) 3y
vlwelser @TheAromaofBooks my second thought was holy shit I'm not even going to remember this by the time it comes out. Because 2023 is not actually that soon. 3y
