From the internationally bestselling author of The Other Passenger and The Heights comes a new explosive thriller about obsession and deadly secrets. Theres the obvious story. And then theres the truth. Alex lives a comfortable life with his wife, Beth, in the leafy suburb of Silver Vale. Fine, so hes not the most extroverted guy on the street, he prefers to keep himself to himself, but hes a good husband and an easy-going neighbour. Thats until Beth announces the creation of a nature trail on a local site thats been disused for decades, and suddenly Alex is a changed man. Now hes always watching. Questioning. Struggling to hide his dread... As the landscapers get to work, a secret threatens to surface from years ago, back in Alexs twenties when he got entangled with a seductive young woman called Marina, who threw both their lives into turmoil. And who sparked a police hunt for a murder suspect that was never quite what it seemed. It still isnt.

Thanks for the tag @RaeLovesToRead !
#twofortuesday @TheSpineView thank you!

1. Yes I'll always have at least a glass of water with me :-)

2. Having a couple of nights off booze as nasty cough so recuperating, a camomile tea whilst reading a trashy thriller

Anything written by this author is an autobuy/read for me.Told in dual timelines, being the present and 20 years in the past. The storyline was cleverly interwoven and complex with Louise's signature twists that you can never quite anticipate. It was an atmospheric dark read that had me catching myself holding my breath in the best of ways. It leaves you wondering just how well you know your partner and their past and just what they may be hiding.

Super compelling crime writing- this is my fave Louise Candlish book I have read yet. It‘s got dual timelines, a hidden past, domestic drama of many varieties, a bit of murder. I picked PART of the twist quite early and was feeling VERY smug about it- but the ending still got me. A couple of threads didn‘t quite resolve enough for me, but I suspect it would have been too neat if everything had been perfectly wound up. A delight.

Maybe I‘m in a reading slump!?!? This was a slog for me and I really didn‘t care what was happening until mid way through where I cared only minimally. I also figured out the twists 🤷‍♀️.
