Peter Lovesey‘s recent death has prompted me to read some of his books. He is credited as the 1st mystery writer to set a whole series in the past with his Inspector Cribb series. I‘m reading his Peter Diamond series now. This one was about Chaucer!

The main PRO of this book: it‘s set in Bath! I went there last summer, so reliving it was dreamy ❤️
Other than that, I was disappointed after loving The Good Part. Premise made it sound like the MC would consider multiple men, but it was VERY obvious from day 1 who the main love interest was. What ensued was a lot of “he‘s perfect, let me invent bogus obstacles,” and I‘m not about that.
pickThere, all finished! There are aspects of it that feel like they could be streamlined (a particular mystery feels like it takes forever to solve given it's only a stepping stone on the way, and I'd solved it before the narrative condescended to get there), but I found myself sad when it was over. I'm glad I have a copy of Confounding Oaths (a loose sequel) out of the library ready to follow this. I love the narrative voice.
I stalled out on reading this for a bit because of life stuff, and also it didn't feel like the right mood for me at the time. Enjoying it a lot now; it's interesting how intrusive the narrator is and yet how easily you can forget it for a moment and narrow the focus to the character interactions.
I should have just 20 mins ish left to read (Kobo and Bookly's estimates vary widely)... but not sure if I'll have the time until late this evening. 😱
pickAnna is divorced and has absolutely no desire to date until she suddenly needs to write a dating column in order to keep her job. When a basic foray back into dating is not fresh enough for the new big boss she agrees to let her kids pick her next few dates and to have her column go head to head with her work nemesis‘s dating column. I had a lot of fun with this story as Anna starts to trust herself and the world again and loved the Bath setting.
pickLow pick! I liked the Fairies and Gods, but it dragged.

pickThis was my #jolabokaflod gift from @LeslieO and I finally got to finish it. I started it on Christmas Eve but didn‘t get far, but when I restarted it in February I finished quickly. I ended up loving Anna and Will plus the premise of the book made it fun getting where the author was leading. I‘ve enjoyed all the Sophie Cousens books I‘ve read so far. She‘s become a real favorite.
Thank you, Leah, for this delightful package. I am particularly pleased with Bath Tangle because I have a couple of other Heyer‘s in this format. And, yes, the Kloester is an essential resource for a Heyer fan 😊. I love the teacup card too. It is so kind of you to think of me 😘. And I did follow your instruction 😆
