Full of roller-coaster twists and turns, Neal Shusterman's page-turner is an Orpheus-like adventure into one boy's psyche. Sixteen-year-old Blake and his younger brother, Quinn, are exact opposites. Blake is the responsible member of the family. He constantly has to keep an eye on the fearless Quinn, whose thrill-seeking sometimes goes too far. But the stakes get higher when Blake has to chase Quinn into a bizarre phantom carnival that traps its customers forever. In order to escape, Blake must survive seven deadly rides by dawn, each of which represents a deep, personal fear--from a carousel of stampeding animals to a hall of mirrors that changes people into their deformed reflections. Blake ultimately has to face up to a horrible secret from his own past to save himself and his brother--that is, if the carnival doesn't claim their souls first!

This was such a fun book that reminded me of my days when I used to read Fear Street books by RL Stone. This had the creepy feel of those books, but not too scary for a younger audience. I thought this was very creative and fun and I really enjoyed it!

Some more character development would have been nice, but overall an entertaining horror story.

“It began the night we died on the Kamikaze.”
Now that‘s a great opening line.
This book is fast-paced and creepy with a satisfying ending. It‘s a supernatural carnival that takes your soul if you don‘t ride seven rides before dawn. And the rides tap into your greatest fears.

JoScho This sounds wonderfully creepy! 6y

#booknerdproblems #photodaynov16. Having no room for books at work. Having no room for books at home because you are trying to put your house on the market and they are considered clutter! (Yes still).

brilliantglow Pft. Books are so far from clutter. When will people learn. 7y
rubyslippersreads My realtor came to visit me after I'd settled into my condo. She saw all the books and said, " How cozy," but I could tell she just was trying to be nice. I guess you either "get" the book addiction or you don't. ? 7y
Amandajoy I had to put most of mine in storage when I was trying to sell. Book buying was an issue, I was hiding them under a couch! 7y
