As you might expect if you‘ve seen the author on QI, this contains lots of anecdotes either related to the author by Illustrious Personages or involving the author himself. It kept me reading, though, and the photos are excellent. Brandreth does draw interesting historical parallels as well.
I'm trying to do better with my non-fiction reading. This #chunkster was so informative and one I highly recommend. Whilst it is heavy on details that some may find excessive...it spoke to my history loving heart. #bookspin @TheAromaofBooks
Brand new into my library and I get to be the first person to read this copy! As a fan of the British Royals I was excited to learn SBS had written a new book about Queen Elizabeth's parents and how they shaped how she would rule. Can't wait to start!
First of all, I can't believe that this was published over 20 years ago! Where has time gone? I think most British people remember where they were/what they doing when they heard about the death of Diana, Princess of Wales. It was a very sad time & one of the few instances then when the monarchy were not in step with the mood of the country. On to the book.
#Bookspin completed. This was quite an enjoyable book on the life of Queen Elizabeth. @TheAromaofBooks
Also #Pantone2023 Summer Song completed. @Clwojick
Thank you so much, @rubyslippersreads , for these lovely Christmas gifts!
I‘d been eyeing this new biography of the Queen (it‘s so pretty!) and The Corgi and the Queen is the absolute sweetest. There‘s even a queen (of books) on this fabulous bookmark. I think we both had the same theme for our gift exchange this year. 😆
The card is so cute and now I‘m off to eat chocs with my new reads. Thanks again, my dear friend. 😘😘
It‘s a hard week. A ridiculous week. I‘m continuing to downsize my “book footprint” in the house because my house is only so big and my husband and children take up more and more room every year. Books I‘ve read, ones I‘ve had on my TBR for ages, ones I just can‘t justify keeping when I haven‘t read them since college. I have to focus more on library checkouts, both physical and electronic, instead of sitting on physical TBRs for years! #anewleaf
