I am reading Umbrella Academy Vol. 1:Apocalypse Suite for the “When Marnie Was There”- “chosen family” prompt for the Ghibliathon. It‘s a readathon that is Studio Ghibliathon themed and I am so exited about this theme and readthon!! Anyone else doing this prompt? Have you read this series? How do you think it compares to the Netflix show?

I did a little library trip and picked up this beauty! I‘ve never read any of Jesmyn Ward‘s books, but I‘ve heard great things. I am about half way through Destroyer Vol. 1, and it is sooo fascinating!! This is part of the #panelathon and I am so excited to take part!! What are some of your favorite graphic novels?

I got new bedding!! Isn‘t it super cute? Lol. I freaking LOVE it! There‘s such a special satisfaction when you get into bed with fresh sheets and bedding! I also like how this is what I would call “nerd chic.” And the green pillow is an awesome homemade secret Santa gift from last year, it‘s the uniform for Tsuyu “Froppy” Asui from My Hero Academia, it stays on my bed regardless of the theme. Haha. Do you have nerd bedding too?

So,I‘m like 65% done with this book and she has just introduced a new story arc,but still has like 6 other issues to address and conclude. I just don‘t feel like there‘s enough pages to get to them all. I‘m worried it will have a rushed ending or a huge cliffhanger. Has this happened to you? For today‘s graphic novel a day-athon, I have started the manga Bride‘s Story by Kaoru Mori. I am not very far, but the artwork is beautiful. Even though it‘s all in black and white, the detailing and texture that they create in the different fabrics, are gorgeous. I know nothing about this except that it‘s about hockey and that‘s something I don‘t know much about, so I‘m here to read out of my comfort zone and learn something new! This is my first Nancy Drew book ever!! And I have to say that 13 year old me, would have relished the maturity and action of this book, 32 year old me finds Nancy Drew‘s freakishly coincidental happenstances a bit suspicious. Lol. It was a cute quick read. I did find myself questioning a lot of things, but I had to remember that this wasn‘t written for me. Having now read one of her books, I can say my childhood was not lacking.

Since I have the week off from school&subbing, I have been doing mini readathons. Tonight I am going to finish Pashmina by Nishi Chanani. So far, it‘s really cute. It‘s a coming of age story involving an Indian American teenage girl and her quest to find herself, her faith, and answers to her mother‘s mysterious past in India, including what happened to her father.

This was my very first manga and I thoroughly enjoyed it! This volume introduces Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars and Jupiter (I dunno why they skipped Venus). Sailor Mercury has always been my fave, but I‘m leaning towards Sailor Mars, after this manga. Haha. What are some other good mangas to read? Did anyone else have issues at first adjusting to the reading style? Let me know!!😊

For my Book Riot Read Harder challenge, I‘m reading Persepolis for my “a book of social science.” I feel this counts as it has history, sociology, geography and is non fiction, so it would make it that much more accurate? 🤷🏾‍♀️If you can think of a better pick, please let me know. I freaking love maps in fictional books! Obviously, Edinburgh is a real place, but I am navigationally challenged, so I love it when books come with maps! Am I the only one? Does anyone else really care? Lol. 😅 If you are like me, what‘s your favorite bookish map, other than the ones in Harry Potter? I like the Darker Shade of Magic maps, and there‘s a gorgeous map inside the Children of Blood and Bone, and ,of course, there‘s the LOTR maps!

I‘m not going to spoil it, but I decided to call them “interesting” siblings, because the reveal at the end of this book and for most of the book to follow KILLED me! Lol. I just got approved for my ARC of My Sister, The Serial Killer, and I could not be more excited! I can‘t wait to dig in! This novel isn‘t slated to come out until November, so someone else PLEASE get an ARC, so we can talk about it once I finish!! Lol.

Well, that‘s how I felt when I heard this quote. I am notorious for saying “sorry” for like everything. Also, this book is hilarious and I highly recommend the audiobook for this.

This is my first Rick Riordan book and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I‘ve found myself literally laughing out loud at this audiobook and the portrayal of Apollo. I don‘t care that this is a middle grade or whatever, but so entertaining and so far, I recommend it!!
