From Page ninety-five.

What does it say about me that I always seem to find, Bruce Wayne's logic exhilarating...😂🤔😉.

Power outage at the campground last night due to the wind and the rain. Until it warms up outside or the heat comes back on in the cabin, this is where I‘ll be starting the readathon!

Pope is a unique and exciting artist and spins a mean yarn. This near future story aims to examine the evolution and legacy of Batman, while offering a sort of peak behind the curtain, possible explanations for some of his famous tricks, but maintaining the veil of secrecy.

Thank you @TheSpineView for creating this play~tag~share card. 👇

AnnCrystal My mom was the least favorite of her abusive, acholic mother. She married my father, who (along with his family) was verbally abusive. Her mother (often) kept her from school, and when my dad kept her from continuing an EDU, my mom taught herself how to read, a second-language, and more. My dad's an insanely good worker (workaholic), but he also enjoys gambling and (given the chance) substance abuse. My mom manages the household...👇

AnnCrystal and since my dad hates kids (she had to plead with him to come see my brother when he was born), my mom's like a single mother. When my brother became sick, she was all alone with my brother in the hell of the hospital system. My dad was supposed to watch me, but he left me to his multiple-abusive (don't ask me about this) family members and friends while he lived a bachelors life. Through all this, I...👇

AnnCrystal watched my mom become stronger with her faith while my dad went searching. Outcast by most of her family (among their reasons, she doesn't drink, and can't handle hospitals or funerals). When my tutor gave up on teaching me to read (I'm a late reader. My brother was the genius), my mom found a way to teach me using Silent Movies. 👇 (edited) 2w

AnnCrystal While I have experienced polite racism, my mom has faced truly hateful racism (some I've even witness).

I could go on. My mom is like Bruce Wayne, she won't allow evils & difficult times to taint her character.

2nd ? - (most recent) Buffy Sainte-Marie. This is cheating, because I haven't read about her, only watched a bio...she makes a good role-model. A modern day warrior-heroine.

A hero from fiction? Tagged. I know, huge surprise 😉.

I've made a list of the books I'd like to reread (one day. Eventually. Maybe).

I do believe I've rediscovered the book I want to top this list with...🤔who am I trying to kid? Like Batman would ever be 2nd on a list of good things I make😂! Only if there were two Batman books 😉. 👇

AnnCrystal It has been awhile since I've watched/read this. I do believe it remains my favorite storyline...except for the Bat-mobile being transformed into a Bat-tank, although that's just my personal taste in automobiles.

This might prove the perfect, unofficial continuation, to the book I recently read about young-adult Bruce Wayne by Marie Lu (Batman: Nightwalker). 👇

AnnCrystal This is the final book from my box of gold 🌟 star books📚 from my youth😉👍. Had planned on spreading the posts about these books over the coming “weeks“😂, yeah, I paced these posts out well (posted all within a week)...I seriously have no self-restraint 😂. Aren't you all lucky that the box holding my Gold 🌟 Star Books didn't once belong to Mary Poppins 😂. 3w
TieDyeDude That's so fun that you still have all of them! I only have a handful of childhood books left. I remember, though, when movie novelizations were a big deal. I still remember sitting a a chair for 5 hours reading the novelization for Star Wars Attack of the Clones straight through. There was always a few extra nuggets of information/motivation to enhance the movie. 3w

AnnCrystal Thanks @TieDyeDude. WOW!! Five hours!! Wow 😯. I do like novelizations. True that they sometimes seem to add a bit extra😉👍. (edited) 3w

Alright, OK. This has proven that Bruce Wayne did create a disguise that can be worn by a successor.

This wasn't terrible, and I must admit that grown-up Dick Grayson makes a great Batman. He knows how to be the Knight that Gotham City still needs, and he does the job well.

The following is a ramble on how I felt about a new character (any character) taking on the Bat-Suit. Continue reading at your own risk 😂🤔...😉.👇

AnnCrystal For me, there is something missing in this Batman version.

This made me realize that I am not just obsessed with Batman, I am only a genuine fan of Bruce Wayne's Batman. I always separated my love for Batman from Bruce Wayne, now I realize that I can't make a connection with Batman without Bruce Wayne.

This has never happened before, not with Zorro, not with any character.

I've always known that I favored Bruce Wayne's Batman, but this 👇

AnnCrystal realization is new and difficult. Difficult, because I read through this twice and held zero emotion for my favorite superhero. I reacted to the story and characters (Dick Grayson/Batman included), yet there was no emotional link to Batman...

Even after all I've stated about Bruce Wayne being the best Batman, I never would've believed that it be this difficult for me to accept a new character taking on the Bat-Suit. 👇

AnnCrystal Like noted, this was good. The artwork was five-stars.

In the 1st story, I knew who the black mask was by Part 4 “smoke and mirrors.“ Yet, did not figure out who was playing the “role“ of Bruce Wayne in public (I either missed something or this wasn't explained).

Only read the 2nd story once. Just as good. Although, by the time I read this 2nd story, I was ready to be done with this book.

This just wasn't the Batman for me.

DaveGreen7777 I was actually collecting the comics at the time Dick Grayson was wearing the cowl, and of the three major series, the Tony Daniel one was easily my least favorite. I‘m a fan of his artwork, but his writing… not so much! If you want to give GraysonBats another try, “The Black Mirror” by Scott Snyder and “Batman and Robin” by Grant Morrison both do an excellent job of making him feel like Batman yet authentic to Dick Grayson as well. 3w
AnnCrystal 👏Thank You @DaveGreen7777 I will make notes of these and consider these titles while book surfing 😉👍. 3w
AnnCrystal @DaveGreen7777 P.S. helps that it wasn't just me 👍 (wacky me😂) 3w

Had this awhile. Never read because I hadn't realized that in this storyline, Bruce Wayne has been killed and Robin has taken on the Bat suit.

Really should stop buying just because “Batman“ is in the title 😂 (without reading what the book is about)!

While I never before tested the theory, I believe it really doesn't matter to me who's behind the mask...so long as the storyline is focused on Batman. I just understand the original best. 👇

AnnCrystal I like Robin, and it makes sense that he might take on the Bat suit upon Bruce Wayne's demise. The same way a daughter/son or niece/nephew could (and have in other stories).

There is just something that doesn't make sense about “anyone“ taking on the character of Batman.

The character of a superhero's mask is defined by the wearer. Bruce Wayne is the embodiment of Batman. Born into existence by the events of Bruce Wayne's childhood.👇

AnnCrystal Even while Robin understands what propelled Bruce Wayne to become Batman, the endurance of Batman only makes sense when fueled by Bruce Wayne's personality.

At least for me...

OK, now I will read and find out if Tony S. Daniel can change my opinion.

A Batman book can never be bad...right? So long as the “Batman“ is alive 😉👍.

P.S. image not from this book. Just seemed a nice match for this post of mine.
