Been downsizing my office book collection, but I can't make myself get rid of #poetry books.
Just finished a historic fantasy, now I need a new read. What should I do????
Wow. Wow wow WOW. What a read. Gripping and arresting and horrifying all at once. Be forewarned, there are some grizzly details about war, genocide, and an off page rape that I nearly had to fast forward past. All of this forces the reader to reconcile the actions of the protagonist with the horrors that drove her there.
Headed back to work with this vibe playing. #nowplaying🎧 DJ Older's #DactylHillSquad Older is one of my favorite #YALit writers, and I can't wait to get into this!
It's 1863, and dinosaurs roam the streets of NY during the Civil War? I'm in! #audible #audiobooks
This has been a really powerful read for me. It's a great example of how important representation is for someone who doesn't identify with a group. I get to see examples of a life I would never have had a window into.
A nice illustration of my reading life compared to my wife's. I might have to borrow #Becoming from her when she's fine, tho. #comics #weneeddiversebooks #graphicnovels
So much history! Paul Robeson's Othello continues to be the gold standard.
Awesome seeing the things I read about with my class in real life. What an experience! You really have to visit the National Museum of African American History.
If you haven't been to the National Museum of African American History, go as soon as you get a chance! It's so powerful, and such a celebration of Black history and culture. This statue of Phillis Wheatley is juxtaposed with the bricks that bear the names of Thomas Jefferson's children who he allowed to continue to be enslaved.
Wheatley's writing was both beautiful and subversive, and she should be celebrated more.
Finally digging into a fun read after being buried in academia. Have a tall stack to get through so I can donate them to my library!
This should be A FUN read
More reasons to love indie bookstores. They have treats like these literary cookies!
Had to pay my #bookhaul for independent bookstore day! I love the indie bookstores in my area, but Volunteers Bookcafe is my favorite #indiebookstoreday
Few of my #NCBD purchases! Looking forward to Infidel no. 2 #newcomicbookday #comixology #comics #graphicnovel #graphicnovels #recommendsday
Finally organizing my #tbr from my pull list. Let operation Read Then Donate begin! #comics #graphicnovels
Day one of #C2E2 done! Highlights: getting to be on a panel with creators of I Am Alfonso Jones and Kindred: Graphic Novel, having RL Stine, Raina Telgemeier, Gale Galligan, Leila Del Duca and Yehuda Mercado (all books tagged below) on our panels, and getting to hang with my #comics teacher buddies!

Late #bookhaul Been looking forward to this one for a while. Love Luke Pearson as a creator, and I've heard nothing but good things about this series! #graphicnovels #comics
I love when Beaton pokes fun at literature, even when I've never read it. This jab at Wuthering Heights floored me! #graphicnovels #comics
Afternoon commute listen! So excited for this sequel. (Although I refrained from calling it a squeakquel, I have now squandered any goodwill by still somehow mentioning it. My apologies.)
So, there are a ton of people comparing this to Get Out, and I think that‘s appropriate, and SO fitting. However, I wish I didn‘t have that expectation going in because all I did was compare the two as I was reading, and it took me out of the story JUST a little. Still...TONS of moments where you will say “Oh $#!+” 10/10
My eyes after reading this👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 Added to the pull immediately! There's a comparison to a certain horror movie that everyone is making and it's appropriate. Spoiler review coming #comics #graphicnovels
This is a thing that happened... And I love it! #hamilton
Been looking forward to this one, but I have to say, if there's one aspect of this book that is tough for me to push past, is the bullying storyline. I don't know why, but I'm reacting to this differently than any other bully/villain I've read. Like, I'm so frustrated with the bully, Chet, but also, Virgil, his victim and I'm not a fan of how they makes me feel. I'm going to push through with teeth gritted, cuz it's pretty good otherwise.
Continuing the binge read with this one! #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy
What a cool call back to these characters' history! #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy
1. Before this week it was LotR, but now it's Black Panther, no question!
2. Pulp Fiction
3. I have a guilty pleasure series: The Fast and the Furious
4. Popcorn all day!

This second book is where this title really takes off. Great read for younger readers who you wouldn't give Rat Queens to. Now I can't wait for volume 3!
Puns and goats! I love it #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy

I've shared this pic before, but since I'm going to see #blackpanther tonight I thought it fitting to share again.
#WhatBlackPantherMeansToMe is this little girl gets a chance to see her hero (& herself) on the big screen and that's beyond dope! I know she'll love it.
Decided to give this one a relisten. I want to finish the series and it's been so long since I read it. Still enjoyable!
Super excited to read this one! One of my favorite memories is seeing Andy Kaufman adding the Mighty Mouse theme song on SNL and being struck, even then, by how weird and hilarious this guy was. #comics #graphicnovels
Finally time to write this essay. That means background music, which means my old reliable coffee house/crooning playlist. Love this guy's voice especially! #procrastinatingtopostonlitsy
Every country other than ours years comics like a serious art form and it's obvious when you read stuff like this and Nightlights. These are the "children's" books and they are challenging and robust. We need more of this here #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy
The operative word for this book is "gorgeous!" The art is more than worth the price of admission. Would love to see this animated! #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy
This cover is gorgeous! Glad for a quick read that also looks great #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy

This album only gets me MORE hyped for this movie!!! Can't wait till Thursday! #BlackPanther #BlackPantherSoLit #comics #graphicnovels
Yeah, I was ready to bail, but still wanted to get some closure on the story. I know, I know, sacrilege. I think I made the right choice. #sorrynotsorry
I really want to like this. But the lead characters are annoying, and everyone is making decisions that don't make sense. People say the ending is worth it, but I'm barely holding on here. It's like a slasher film, and I don't really enjoy those either.
Any advice out there littens?
What a book! I can def see this as a tool in the classroom. The back matter with the maps, glossary, character list, and process pages are great teaching material! Up next on the docket: Kid Beowulf. What a cool look at the story we all know. A good entry point for young readers to give them access to classic material #EXGL2018 #PopClassroom #ComicBooks #GraphicNovels #LitsyReadingChallenge2018 #LitsyAtoZ #LRC #teachersoflitsy #comics
