A+. A lovely picture book celebrating an independent woman following her own path & planting beauty along the way. Great gift for the independent girl in your family. Cooney would have turned 100 this week! #classic #kidsbook #independentwomen

Finally started this beauty! The cover is amazing, and it is so good so far! It also works for almost every photo challenge I've been missing... #augustmostanticipated #anditsaugust #independentwomen #augustgrrrl #audiobookstogo #backtoreading #bookswithsisters #booksacrossoceans

Cortg I stacked it solely based on the cover 😉 5y
readinginthedark @Cortg I'm sure I would have done that, too, if I hadn't heard about the book before seeing it! I love the cover so much! 5y

#AugustGrrrl #IndependentWomen I love historical fiction, especially when it is based on real-life independent women like these five books that I've read and enjoyed. From spies to civil war soldier to bedridden feminist diarist to presidential candidate to journalist, these are strong and courageous women from history to admire. ❤️📚

They may not have bought the shoes on their feet, but rest assured, Ren and Toby are #independentwomen trapped in difficult pre-apocalyptic circumstances. Hell, Toby probably *made* the shoes on her feet. They are survivors, children of a destiny that they would not choose, but will never shrink from facing. I say their names with the deepest literary admiration. #augustgrrrl @Cinfhen

saresmoore You write a helluva blurb! 5y
Billypar @saresmoore Ha- thanks! Hopefully Destiny's Child doesn't sue me 😜 5y
saresmoore @Billypar 😂 I'd say you're more in the realm of fanfic than plagiarism. 5y

I know I have recommended this book before but I'm here to do it again!! It's a great one for today's title #independentwomen for the #RiotGrrrl challenge!! This take on/dialogue with Jane Eyre is fun, smart, full of heart and leaves you with some stuff to think about. A balanced meal of a book that has not one, but two really cool independent women as characters.
