This recipe is so easy, and absolutely adorable! I might have to give this one a go next weekend. Sounds like a perfect recipe for #AudioCooking, especially since I‘ll want some finger foods to snack on during #24B4Monday

#Audiocooking and trying to finish this book I started in September. It‘s a long one!

12 bottles of elderberry syrup ready to be labeled! And this is only batch one! I‘m selling it to my neighbors and have 30 orders to prepare and deliver.

AmyG Wow! And Radium Girls is good...but a slow read. Lots of info. 3w
4thhouseontheleft @AmyG It‘s a great read, but it is slow. I‘m only 1/3 of the way through it. 3w

And now, fridge pickles! I‘ve squeezed in lots of good #audiocooking this weekend.

THREE WEEKS WITH LADY X continues to delight and frustrate. Every time I start to maybe like Thorn, he pulls some alpha male bullshit. Sigh.

Tamra Yum, my favorite! 1mo
xicanti @Tamra I made them for the first time a few weeks ago, and they were so good I had to do a couple more jars! 1mo
Seekingtardis I would love the recipe!! 1mo

xicanti @Seekingtardis it‘s really simple. For these two jars, I used 2 large cucumbers, 3-4 sprigs of dill, 5 cloves of garlic, 3 dried chilies, 1/2 cup each of apple cider vinegar and water, 1/2 tsp each of mustard seeds, sugar, and whole peppercorns, and 3 tsp salt. I packed the first four ingredients into the jars, then brought the rest to a simmer and poured it over the cucumbers et al. The pickles are best if you wait 5-7 days to eat them. 1mo
Tamra @xicanti I‘ll try it! 1mo
xicanti @Seekingtardis @Tamra I just realized I gave the wrong proportions for the vinegar & water. They should be 1 cup each. 1mo
Seekingtardis Yum!! I‘m going to try it this week!! 1mo

Finished this #audiobook while #audiocleaning #audiowalking #audiocooking and importantly EATING! lol
I'm on an elimination diet (no gluten, dairy, or added sugar) so this was a "what can I throw together because my GF pancake mix has dairy I need to eat now" kind of dinner sans recipe. Conclusion: like rice pasta, that was actually a lot of spinach, yay I finally used the xanthan gum i bought ages ago!

It‘s gonna be a big #audiocooking evening, I think. I finished THERE‘S SOMETHING ABOUT SWEETIE and started the tagged book while I chopped more chard and made this delicious warm Brussels sprout salad for late lunch/early supper.

This is my first Eloisa James, and so far I love the heroine and the basic setup but wouldn‘t wish the hero on anyone. One of THOSE. I sure hope he improves.

megzlynn That looks divine! 1mo

We‘re having a monsoon this morning. The street‘s totally flooded, so I‘m just gonna stay at home. Poor Casey hasn‘t even HINTED he‘d like to go for a walk, which is how you know it‘s serious.

I also woke up with a baaaad headache that made it tough to read while I breakfasted. Audiobooks to the rescue! I listened to a big chunk of THERE‘S SOMETHING ABOUT SWEETIE while I cooked eggs and wilted the chard I got the other day. #audiocooking

xicanti @cobwebmoth @Mimi28 @Megabooks thanks, everyone! My head‘s doing better now, but the water situation‘s escalating. There‘s a couple of cars foundered in the middle of the street, because people will try to drive through the flooded area, and I‘m pretty sure some of the parked cars have been flooded out too. The water level‘s up into their license plates. 1mo
readordierachel Glad your head is feeling better. Hope everyone stays safe with all that water. 1mo
GrilledCheeseSamurai Winnipeg, right? It was a helluva rain. It woke me up this morning. I sat myself down by a window and read my book. 1mo
Eyelit Take care and hope things get better! 1mo
xicanti @readordierachel it‘s been pretty intense. It looks like they cancelled the local schools for the day, but they were already in session so I dunno how all the kids‘ parents managed to get through the flooding and pick them up. 1mo
xicanti @GrilledCheeseSamurai good plan. My entire neighbourhood‘s flooded after the deluge. 1mo
xicanti @Eyelit it‘s stopped raining for now. Hopefully the water will have drained by the time it starts back up again. 1mo

I haven‘t had a whole lot of listening time today, but I made a bit of progress through THERE‘S SOMETHING ABOUT SWEETIE while I dealt with part of the giant bunch of chard my neighbour gave me earlier this evening.

The book‘s still great. I‘m sure the chard‘ll be great, too, but I‘m tired of eating it as chips or tossing it in anywhere I‘d normally use kale. Do any of you have some favourite chard-forward recipes? #audiocooking #sortof

Lindy I like chard cooked with a little soy sauce and garlic. Sauté the stems separately because they take longer. (edited) 1mo
effani I like to saute chard with onion and garlic and use that as a burrito filling, along with fresh tomato salsa and rice. (This is a very abridged version of a recipe from the tagged cookbook, which is a favorite in my house) 1mo
xicanti @Lindy I like the sound of that. It‘s similar to the seasonings I use with shimeji mushrooms. 1mo

xicanti @effani I don‘t eat onions, but I‘m sure I can adapt that! I‘ve also got a ton of tomatoes courtesy of the same neighbour and his extensive garden. 1mo
Lindy I remembered having a sweet tart made with chard when I was in Nice. Tourte de blettes. David Leibovitz has a recipe: https://www.davidlebovitz.com/swiss-chard-tart-recipe-tourte-de-blettes/ 1mo
xicanti @Lindy this sounds intriguing, and I‘ve got everything except the pine nuts on hand. 1mo
xicanti @mreads I do like hummus! I‘m gonna see if I can find some affordable tahini so I can try that. 1mo
