Roll on 2026 for the next installment of Hamish Macbeth!

I really am please that Hamish & Blair are finally getting on after such hatred for each other! & still have my fingers crossed that Hamish' new love interest Clair will work out! 🤞

This was a bit of a slow starter for me.

I honestly think this addition to the Hamish Macbeth books was one of the greatest ones I have read yet! I love the friendship made between Hamish & James! And I'm glad Hamish ended with another love interest!

Well I am officially all caught up on the Hamish Macbeth series. This one also has a different narrator like the last one, and the whole series just feels a bit off. I‘m not sure why it bothers me with the Hamish books and not the Agatha Raisin books. Oh well. I will still read them as long as they publish them! 3⭐️

Tove_Reads Need to get back to the series. I‘m sure there are now a few I haven‘t read. 6mo

This one was extra jarring & felt like a totally different series. Just when I finally had gotten used to the 2nd narrator, this one has a different one. Everything felt off in this one. Sigh. 3⭐️

I‘m giving this a soft pick. While there are differences in the Agatha Raisin series since R.W. Green took over, they are subtle & don‘t bother me much. Not so in the Hamish Macbeth series. In this one & the next one especially it almost feels like a completely different series. I will still keep reading but it‘s not the same. 3.5⭐️

This is the 1st Hamish book without M.C. Beaton. The changes are subtle, at least imo, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this. Poor Hamish just cannot catch a break with his messy love life. Love this series. 4⭐️

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Oh no, he still hasn‘t got his love life sorted? I haven‘t read a Hamish book in forever. Not sure how I feel about the books being continued past them being given an ending. I read the first Agatha Raisin without MC and while it was fine - I haven‘t continued. 8mo
JenlovesJT47 @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Hamish has very bad luck in this one with his current lady. I love both Hamish and Agatha and while I can definitely tell a difference with the new author, I still think he captures the overall feel of everything pretty well. I just finished the new Agatha Raisin book and enjoyed it. 8mo
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @JenlovesJT47, as long as the enjoyment is still there, that‘s really all that matters. 8mo

I had to set every book aside to devour this one in 24 hours! The latest Hamish Macbeth, this one looks at smuggling of whisky and sex trafficking in Scotland. As always with a Hamish Macbeth, the quirky characters of Lochdubh help Hamish investigate. The reader pretty much guesses the culprit early on, but it‘s fun to see the twists Hamish‘s investigation takes. I read these purely for escape, and this did not disappoint!
