We're riveted by this one immediately!
Although fantasy is not my cup of tea, this book comes highly recommended and I enjoyed the story of three sisters who go missing as children only to return a month later with no memory of where they'd been. A decade later, the eldest sister goes missing again and it's up to the other two to uncover the secrets of their past. Totally entertaining.
1. House of Hollow was the best one I read last year, and Devolution was my fav the year before that. Wonder what this year will bring?
2. Apple oat lattes
3. Immediately after work to decompress
4. Halloween, sweaters, and the amazing leaves
5. I like to read lol

Eerie novel with intriguing British characters moving thru London, Edinburgh, and the beyond…this was super charming and mysterious and a bit sad. It felt like a grey area where you don‘t know what‘s real and what‘s not, what‘s fiction and what‘s fantasy. And I was rly into!
We had fallen through a crack in the world. This is where we had come as children and wandered for a month. A place of the dead. What had happened to us here? Why had we stayed so long?
It‘s not too early for #audiocrafting Halloween DIYs, right?! 💀 Love how this turned out. Admittedly I'm listening to a totally different book but this project is definitely giving me House of Hollow vibes. 🌷🌿🌺 Crafty inspo taken from https://www.instagram.com/darciedoesstuff/?hl=en
I feel the best way to describe this is a a mystery, it is also fantastical horror. But a bit like Stranger Things it leads with mystery and so the horror isn't that scary. It is not high tension/jump scare horror.
Well executed with good characterisation, beautiful description, and an ending that delivers a satisfying emotional wallop. Feels YA but worth an afternoon of anyone's time.

First bingo!!!! 💖 Was rough getting through Earth & Blood, so it's definitely a nice reward. I'll try to see if I can get through an audiobook for one more.

Try to get 3/4 through House of Earth & Blood this week. Think I can completely finish House of Hollow & start The Raven Spell.
I should have used #Storygraph to look up trigger warnings for this book. I won't post the triggers they may lead to spoilers...
I struggled to read the last half of this book, I actually put it down for a day after reading a certain line. Happy to have read it once, but I'll pass this to my sisters...
#Bookoutlet made me buy this because their prices are so great. Normally, I would use the Libby app, but I have a book buying problem 😅
@Littlewolf1 received my #creepychristmasswap package today! Also picked up the tagged book to get me through my last bit of Christmas shopping. 😅

After going missing with her sisters as children, iris doesn‘t remember what happened. 10 yrs later her oldest sister is missing again, and iris has to unravel the mystery of her past. This was dark and twisted and I really liked it! Kind of a modern day fairy tale.
Wow this book was far creepier than I was expecting. 3 sisters go missing when they were kids only to mysteriously re-appear a month later. A decade later, the eldest sister vanishes again...
Filled with atmosphere & sisterly love, you can taste, hear, and smell everything that's going on. Who would've thought flowers could be so eerie?

My TBR for #Scarathlon2022! But like all my monthly TBRs they basically change every 2 days 😁 The tagged book is the one I'm looking forward to the most, I've heard good things about it. #TeamMonsterMash @StayCurious
Ok hear me out. I know a lot of people completely fell in love with this book. I didnt hate it, it was good and kept me interested but i kind of expected so much more out of it because of the hype around it.
The Hollow sisters were powerful so i was expecting it to be fulled packed with action but there was just a handfull of things happening. I still think is worth a read just dont go expecting greatness out of it.
I could not put this book down last night I got to about the halfway mark and had to force myself to out it down and go to sleep. I didn‘t think I was going to like it as much as I do
I have resisted buying this book for a long time not sure if I was gonna like it but I finally gave in as the library has a long holds list
very mysterious and magical/mythical...good so far ❤
I feel like I just had a dream vacation to Hawaii. Thank you @tdrosebud for my wonderful #staycationintime box. I really enjoyed everything.
Thank you @Gissy for my amazing #spookysummerswap box! I love the books and book sleeve so much! I will be using my cat mug to drink the delicious tea you sent. 💝💝💝
Book 81📚 5⭐️
A hauntingly beautiful read🖤
Loved this one from the very first chapter! Such a captivating and twisted story. Full of magic, loss and revenge. I want more of the Hollow Sisters🖤🖤🖤
The cover is equally intoxicating🥀
well shit lol
Iris & her 2 sisters went missing when they were kids, they came back a month later but their hair was white and their eyes black & had no memory of what happened. except now the eldest sister, Grey, is missing again &she did remember the whole time what happened. Iris & Vivie now have to go looking for her & try to figure out their past
this book is dark gothic/fantasy & kinda gory. a bit slow and glossed over in some parts but good
It‘s here!🥰 I couldn‘t resist buying this book when I saw the cover! Can‘t wait to start this one! (Adds to never ending TBR pile📚😂)
I love the cover, but I just felt meh about the book.
It's a dark modern fairytale about three sisters who disappeared when they were young, but return a month later. Since their return something is different about them.
This had some interesting parts, but everything felt glossed over. Some of the body gore seemed used just for shock and awe.
If you enjoy YA and want a dark gothic tale this isn't bad, just don't expect too much from it.
2021 read: 3 magical sisters. Say no more. Listened to it completely in one day. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much @Charityann I love everything and I can't wait to read the books and the tea is one of my favorites too and those socks are definitely going to be on my feet tonight. #Bestof2021 @candority
I knew nothing about this book before I began, but I am so glad that I started. A strong mystery with a hint of magic was exactly what I needed to read in my life. This dark fairytale was written well and I ducked into the storyline quickly.
I really don't know what to think about this book. I know a lot of people love it. And while it kept me reading to find out what actually happened to the sisters 10 years ago when they first disappeared, and what is happening to them now, I was also disgusted by some of it, lol. I don't know. I wasn't in love with it. It was perfectly spooky for October, but maybe not for me.
Well. That was certainly something...
There were aspects of this book that I really loved (spoiler tagged comment below), but I did struggle with some of the gruesome body horror. I think it was partly because I was reading this in small bits during breaks at work so I never got fully into the story, but some of the horror aspects fell a little forced. I liked the concept, but felt like the execution was a little lacking.
Almost at the halfway point, and this book is real weird... still trying to decide if it's a good weird, or just weird.
Do any of these sound good @Laughterhp @HOTPock3tt @TheAromaofBooks ? If not I have many other options- including a very very old reread that I loved when I was 18 but wonder if I would still love it now….
Our 8th grade English teacher has started doing First Chapter Fridays with her students where she reads the first chapter of a library book to each of her classes and then students have the opportunity to check that book out. I'm having so much fun choosing books and her students have been loving it - they are reading! This month we are doing horror and thrillers!
Book 3 of my spooky/witchy themed read for the best month in the year, October! I admit I bought it for the cover but the story inside is just as good. Magic, Greek myths, a mystery and voila! This title. Very easy and quick read that‘s not too dark.
I‘ve been saving this one for this time of year. Honestly, I read this purely because of the epic cover art, but I‘m happy to report the actual story delivered too! Very YA which is typically not my jam these days. From the point of view of Iris, who along with her sister Vivi are searching for their third sister Grey who is missing. Creepy with some slight gore. 🌸 🎃
@Gissy my dear friend!!! I love this birthday treasure box I arrived home to! My favorite color is green and I LOVE the candles that sound like burning wood! The book ends are perfect and I love the books you sent!!! Of course an Alice book sleeve, light and coffee added a perfect touch!! If you are a hugger I‘m sending a huge virtual hug! And an email too. Thank you! 😘😘😘
Spooky season vibes. 📚🍁
House of Hollow | Krystal Sutherland.
Iris & her two older sisters, Vivi & Grey, were kidnapped as children and went missing for a month with no memory of what happened. Now, years later, Grey is missing again . . .
This intriguing, mysterious tale has wonderfully fleshed out characters, beautifully vivid imagery, and an ending I didn‘t see coming despite the story‘s plentiful foreshadowing. It‘s a twisted supernatural thrill ride👍
