CoverToCoverGirl I love this. How did you create it? I can‘t draw a straight line.. 12mo
GinaKButler @CoverToCoverGirl The pages are a dot grid. I sketch it out with pencil and a ruler and then go over it with pen. Thank you! My goal is to *actually* stick with my reading journal all year long. So far, so good! 12mo
Amiable Is there a method to the pattern of how you color it in? I know that each color is for a month, but are you aiming for a rainbow-type look at the end? Instead of coloring the books in the order that you read them? Just intrigued by your process! 12mo
Amiable And also —what if you read more books than you‘ve plotted out? Or does this chart represent specific books that you‘ve planned for this year and not every book you will read? (So many questions—sorry! I used to be a newspaper reporter. 😬) 12mo
GinaKButler @Amiable There is no rhyme or reason…I just want a colorful bookshelf when it‘s full. 12mo
GinaKButler @Amiable I plotted out 95 books. I read 90 last year, so I *should* be ok, but I can always draw a line down some of the chunky ones to add a few. I usually don‘t use pen on it for titles until I‘m sure I‘ll finish. The ones you see are either in progress or one of my #chunksterchallenge2023 picks. I‘ve added TBRs in past years and then never got to them. My goal is really just to keep up with this… 12mo
Amiable Thanks for explaining your thought process! I love the way it looks. It‘s going to be so pretty when the year is over. 12mo

@vivastory my book journals ! I am ready for any impending data apocalypse by keeping it on paper. Never lost one in multiple moves during my life , yes, they could be lost to flood or fire, if that happens, bigger problem! The cool thing about the leather , it has a removable inner book, very standard art store sketch book , a person could buy refill for current use & shelve the others in a neat row.I fell in love with random ones .🤷‍♀️

vivastory For some reason I never received your tag on this post, so I'm seeing this only now! I'm seriously considering of doing something similar & devoting 1 notebook to a new year. I might still also add it on gr, but years ago I used to journal all of my reading & I really miss it. Thanks again! 2y

So … Happy Book Journal Anniversary Day to me! 😁 🖤 I started keeping a book journal a year ago. I LOVE it!! B&N exclusive. Worth the $$

I‘ve read over 425 books … I still have 50 pages to fill. I‘m hoping it lasts until 12/31.

We shall see 🤗

If you keep a book journal, what does it look like!? What do you love about it?

readingjedi I use a Paperblanks midi size lined journal. My current one is the blush pink silver filigree. I love Paperblanks but this one is particularly gorgeous 😍 3y
CaffeineAndCandy Super cool 💜💜💜 3y
Twainy @readingjedi is it the Maya Blue Journal? If so, that was one of the 3 I narrowed my search down to! I picked mine up in person at B&N cuz I couldn‘t decide. I like the leather cord that wraps around mine. When I close it tight it‘s way less fluffy. I glue a picture of the cover of every book into the journal. 3y
Twainy @CaffeineAndCandy thank you. It doesn‘t look as nice as the empty one but it holds so many memories & thoughts from over the past year. 3y
readingjedi @Twainy Yes, it's that design but in pink. I think it's discontinued now as I really had to hunt around to find the pink one. And I love the idea of having a picture of the cover! 3y

Okay #littens. I need your help. I REALLY want to start a book journal. I've always just had goodreads track them but I want something more personal. But I'm stuck on what to write/track. What are some of the things you find you enjoy in your own #bookjournal ?

JanuarieTimewalker13 Sometimes I take a photo of the book and put a blurb in my creative journal. I‘ve taken to creative journaling bc I have a washi tape addiction. Lol I use a sprocket to print small photos since I don‘t have a printer and I no longer use my computer. 4y
JanuarieTimewalker13 I used to write the first line and the last line in my regular journal and whatever lines made a deep impression. 4y
SheReadsAndWrites These are great ideas! Thank you @JanuarieTimewalker13 4y

I was so excited when my new book journal and gorgeous bookmark arrived yesterday! I won them on Instagram from paiges_prologue and Emily Cromwell Designs! This picture truly doesn‘t do the art justice. They are both stunning! And I love that the journal has a space for favorite quotes from each book, as I am a happy collector of book quotes. I can‘t wait to start filling it all in!

I think I might try book journaling again. I haven‘t touched it since 2018 — when I filled exactly 3 pages. 😅

Any tips, advice, or fun little projects you‘ve worked on recently? Leave me a comment, link me to a video, or tag me in a post you‘ve made! I‘d love to see it all.

readingjedi No tips to offer, just wanted to say you should definitely continue because, as someone with less than zero artistic ability, I love this type of thing & wish I could do it too 🙂 4y
Erinsuereads I love love loved when I was book journaling! I have been wanting to get back to it too 4y
TheAromaofBooks I've gotten way into my book journal due to Litsy/reading challenges. My favorite is to print out the bingo cards I'm trying to fill, tape them into my journal, and track my progress. I've also printed out a map of the US for #ReadtheUSA2020 & basically something for all the challenges I'm trying to accomplish. Super fun!! 4y
See All 8 Comments
monalyisha @TheAromaofBooks I LOVE those ideas! I probably won‘t do them...I‘m too much of a mood reader to commit to too many challenges. But I bet your journal is something to behold! ⚡️Thanks for sharing! (edited) 4y
DimeryRene I‘m thinking of starting mine again too!!!!! Good luck! Have fun. 🖍📒🎨 4y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Maybe making one page per book read where you jot down quotes, thoughts, & doodles and the design can match the book or mood. Since you're a mood reader, lists of books on a theme or books to check out. Pages honoring different authors or focuses (such as reading black authors or women in translation). 4y
monalyisha @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Those are great ideas! Thanks. 4y

Question for my fellow Littens: what do you use to track your reading? I used to use Goodreads but haven‘t updated my account on there in about two years.

If you use a journal, is there a specific one that you recommend like Book Riot‘s Read Harder journal or do you use any notebook?

If you use a spreadsheet, do you make your own or do have a template that you download off the internet?

Crazeedi I use goodreads for several years, I also bought a couple journals from amazon, but I'm way behind in filling it out. But I like them a lot. I tried LT for a while, but I got behind with it too. So goodreads is up to date 4y
Texreader LibraryThing. I love it 4y
Deblovestoread I use the a spreadsheet that I made. It has date finished, title, author, genre, # of pages, star rating and media type. I would probably use something more up date but the idea of loading all that past info is daunting. 4y
Soubhiville I do all 3! I use goodreads, keep a journal that‘s just blank lined pages where I write title, author, number of pages, start and fin. Dates, and whether I own or borrowed it. I also keep a google sheet I created so I can see graphs/ stats at the end of the year. I have most of the same columns as @Kdgordon88 with the addition of location, LGTBQ+, and POC. (edited) 4y
LibrarianRyan To track reading challenges I use a spreadsheet in Google docs that I made myself. In general I use Library thing and GD, but I have so many books in my GR account that somethings don't show up on a day to day basis. I did just buy this What happens in Book Lib stays in book club flip book which is meant to help you keep track of what you read. 4y

I spent some time on Saturday updating my book journal. I hadn‘t done anything since the beginning of 2019, so there were a bunch of spreads to do starting with January. I only got through May, but I will update for June/July at the end of the month.

Feeling very good about my reading progress so far in 2019! April has been my best month as of mid-year.

Starting off 2019 with good intentions! Hopefully this year I keep up with my journaling & planning, god knows I‘ve got enough oh so pretty, but oh so empty journals piled up in my library.Does anyone else stockpile notebooks & never use them? Or is it just my hoarding arse.🤔 This is the brilliant planner that came in the December #OwlCrate with month planner pages, to-do lists, new release pages, book review pages & more. Love it!📗🦉#bookplanner

ju.ca.no I have SO many unused notebooks at home😂 5y
danibolahood Definitely not alone! I couldn't tell you the number of notebooks and journals I have with only a few pages used 5y
Paula3 I like to get rid of them as soon as the nexy year begins, but oh I've thrown out at least a handful. 5y

Hey Littens-I want to get a book journal but there are so many options. Does anyone have one they love and would recommend? Thanks in advance ❤️

How do you track your reading (if you do). I use Goodreads but I've always kept a written log too.

RebelReader I track mine on a spreadsheet. I do somewhat on Goodreads, but my spreadsheet is the most accurate. 6y
Cheshirecat913 Cute! I put mine in my journal, still a paper and pen kind of person even with all these apps and such. 6y
ReadingEnvy This year I'm doing Goodreads, a spreadsheet, and a list in my journal 6y
See All 7 Comments
toofondofbooks @RebelReader @ReadingEnvy I've never tried a spreadsheet. My hubby would though bc he spreadsheets everything 😆 6y
toofondofbooks @Cheshirecat913 me too. It's just something about the writing it down 6y
ReadingEnvy @toofondofbooks I'm trying a spreadsheet to see if it's easier to track things like gender, genre, books I own vs books I get from the library, etc. I want charts and graphs without having to add it all up in the end! 6y
toofondofbooks @ReadingEnvy that's a great idea! 6y

Pickpick

I bought my first ever book journal and I really like the design. It is going to be interesting to take time to write down my ideas about books I love.Do you guys keep one?

twohectobooks I do! But I keep mine in an old ratty binder. (Plus two larger binders cuz I've been doing this since 2008 so I've read a lot of books in that time!) Each book gets at least one sheet of paper, and then eventually gets filed alphabetically by author at the end of the year. I write quotes I like and short reviews as well as page counts and date started/finished. 7y
sofiaga @twohectobooks wow, so disciplined! I only started to keep track of books I read since 2012. But I love the idea of writing down the quotes I like. I think I will do that too. 7y
BkClubCare I have this! Somewhere... probably packed in a box I won't see for awhile. 🙄 7y
twohectobooks I am a bit wild about alphabetical order, which is why I have to use a binder instead of this type of book :) 7y

I'm not much into journaling, but I love lists & doodling! Thanks to Litsy, I'm using journals to doodle my thoughts & ideas for photo challenge books or lists of things to find at the thrift store or library. Or keeping track monthly of what I've read so far. It keeps me excited. And it's much more fun & pretty than keeping my lists online (which I still do too)! 🤗📚🤓 #blameitonlitsy #riotgrams #notebooksjournals
