My Sir Knight and I watched Jurassic World this evening in preparation for the new one to come out in June 2022.

I need heels like Bryce wore, she wore them all day and did a ton of running in them!!!

Klou I've only seen the first Jurassic World. I need to watch the others. Love the heels comment 😂 4w

Who is ready for May??? Excited to read Jurassic Park for #NWC's monthly read?

Here is a schedule (if you need it) to help with ur monthly read. This book isn't numbered for the chapters. So I did what I could do for a schedule.

@ElizaMarie @AsYouWish @jb72

jb72 The book started a bit slow for me, but once into it, the story went pretty fast. 1y
AkashaVampie @jb72 it did seem long when I was trying to figure out the chapters/sections. 1y
jb72 @AkashaVampie Yeah it is a bit longer but still under 500 pages. And it is pretty interesting. 1y
AkashaVampie @jb72 well I hope to read it soon. 1y
ElizaMarie This is one of my favorite books! I am excited! 1y

I have wanted to read this for years - ever since I was in elementary school and my high school brother read is back in the early 90s. This is one of my favorite movies so it was hard to not make comparisons while reading... but man, was this book good. So involved and descriptive. The characters made you care... whether you loved them or hated them, you felt for them. It was such a great blend of action and science and I just really enjoyed it.

My first Crichton read. 🙌 I loved his writing style because of the detail in it, there's details on the characters and what they're going through etc. - also the detail in describing the surroundings and the atmosphere all of which make it very suspenseful for the reader.
.
🧬
There's also little diagrams and graphs in this particular version anyway relating to the story which makes the story very engaging.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

SheReadsAndWrites I love his writing. 🤓 2y
Nute I have listed several of his books as ‘favorite reads.‘ Jurassic Park is amongst them! 2y
Prairiegirl_reading I recommended this to a friend recently and she said, “like Jurassic park the movie?” I said, “yes! But the book is a lot better!” And I really liked the movie. The book really surprised me. 2y
eeclayton @Prairiegirl_reading I felt about the book the same way! @mostlyhorrorfiction I think it was my first Crichton too, but definitely not the last 🙂 2y

What happens when science gets ahead of itself and doesn‘t fully think through its actions or believes there‘s a chance something out of the expected could happen? You get Jurassic Park. A zoo like theme park dedicated to providing a one of a kind experience thanks to science bringing back dinosaurs. The only issue? Things don‘t go the way they were supposed to and people might not be the true ruler over nature after all.

Schnoebs I loved this so much! Check out my Goodreads review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3314425677 2y

Let me start out with that I‘m enjoying this but here‘s the thing....

I watched this movie way too young and it gave me reoccurring nightmares. My thought process was “well, I really enjoyed his other book and one of my favorite narrators reads this so maybe I‘ll give it a try. You never know, it might help me get over my nightmare issues.” Well folks, I‘m half through and now can only read 5-10 pages at a time without freaking out. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Schnoebs I have zero idea how long this book is going to take me because I‘m the biggest scaredy cat. It‘s pathetic and somehow I thought reading one of the most classic thriller stories of my life time was a good idea. 2y

Recently in Michigan the governor lifted some restrictions which meant the local bookstores could do curbside pick up. Last week I took a walk to pick up my manga order from my local comic book store and then this weekend I drove to pick up the books from the local indie bookstore!

One of the benefits of working at the library that is currently not open to the public is being able to listen to music or an audiobook while I weed through the non-fiction. I'm about 60% through Jurassic Park. I'm enjoying the mix of action and science. #audioworking

#audiowalking on this sunny day. A little over 1/3 of the way through this book. I had forgotten, unlike the movie, Dr. Grant actually likes kids and the lawyer is not that bad. And Hammond is even more incredibly naive and irresponsible.

I had somehow never read this one, and it seriously cut into yesterday's productivity levels because I had trouble putting it down! A fun romp of a story, and I found myself wondering how it was marketed when it was first published, because realizing that these were DINOSAURS could have been a pretty serious mind-blow! I had some issues, mainly the constant philosophizing whilst fending off velociraptors - seriously, is this when you would ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) ACTUALLY be lecturing everyone on chaos theory??! VELOCIRAPTORS!!! The ending also felt awkward and abrupt. Still, all in all, this was a fun story that I had trouble putting down, and I am (perhaps foolishly, considering everything I need to get done today 😁) rolling straight into The Lost World. 2y
hannah-leeloo I loved these books. I agree Malcolm had interesting timing and was hard at times to keep up with his "theory". Happy reading hun ??? 2y

TheAromaofBooks @hannah-leeloo - I was just like, “Um, pretty sure you are dying of dinosaur wounds while velociraptors are nomming their way into your room so they can kill you and you are still TALKING ABOUT SCIENTIFIC THEORIES?! It just seemed unlikely! 😆 2y
hannah-leeloo @TheAromaofBooks yer I agree but he was very clever for a man becoming delusional hahaha. Alan Grant will always be my favourite 🦖 2y
Inkblotsandcoffeestains I agree with you on this! When I read it I laughed at how unlikely it would be to do anything but freak out! On another note though: I thought this was a million times better than the movie will ever be, which is saying a lot because I love the movie lol 2y
TheAromaofBooks @hannah-leeloo - yes I fell a little bit in love with Grant when I was reading this!! 😍 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Inkblotsandcoffeestains - it's been a really, really long time (like maybe 20 years lol) since I have seen the movie, so it seemed like a good time to read the book, when the movie wasn't really in my mind any more, if that makes sense. But now I'm interested to rewatch the movie and see how it stacks up! 2y
hannah-leeloo @TheAromaofBooks he's great in the films and books 😉 2y

Huge list of chores today and all I want to do is read Jurassic Park!!!

Eggs That‘s a big list!! Take some down time too 💗 2y
jb72 Good luck! I have a list too. I read Jurassic Park and did enjoy it. There were one or two things that annoyed me. 2y
Bookjunkie57 Add “Read one chapter of Jurassic Park“ to the list. 2y

TheAromaofBooks @Eggs - haha trust me, taking breaks to read is NOT something I struggle to do! 😂 2y
TheAromaofBooks @jb72 - I expect there will be some issues, but I'm pretty much looking for an action flick full of dinosaurs, so I should at least get that! It's been forever since I've seen the movie, so it's basically an all-new story for me. 2y
TheAromaofBooks @Bookjunkie57 - more like “Finish Jurassic Park today“ 😆 2y
jb72 @TheAromaofBooks I‘d like to know your thoughts when you‘re done. 2y
teainthelibrary I loveee Jurassic Park! Every time I reread it, I find it hard to put it down. 2y
TheAromaofBooks @teainthelibrary - I've pretended to do other things today but since I've read like 200 pages of Jurassic Park we can see how that's gone! 😆 2y

Is it a problem when the librarians recognize your car and have your books on the counter already when you walk in?? 😁 Today I got the rest of the Haven Point series, a Denise Hunter book I haven't read yet, The Starless Sea (I've heard mixed reviews and wow it's a fat book), and Jurassic Park, which I have somehow never read. Should keep me busy for a couple of days!! See anything you've read/want to read??

This was fantastic and so different from the movie. Loved all the additional science bits. The writing style was compelling, kept up the tension. Overall, a fun page turner. Will probably pick this up again in a few years. Would highly recommend reading this if you liked the movie. This is better!

4.5/5 🌟

xxjenadanxx I keep meaning to read this because the movies are my favorites but I put it off. Maybe I'm scared of ruining the movies lol. 2y
Naj @xxjenadanxx read it! It won't ruin the movies. It's slightly different and only adds to the film experience 2y

Really different from the movie...lots more science here. That doesn‘t prevent a lot of great action and running from T-Rex and raptors of course. Fun...will need to read the sequel now to see what dinosaurs might have escaped to the mainland..l

My next #tenatatime #tbr pile. Number 26! I‘m excited to dive into some of these!

Hooked_on_books I read Jurassic Park when I was sixteen. I found it so riveting that I suddenly realized I was the only one awake in a dark house under just the puddle of light from a table lamp. I kept darting my eyes toward the window, waiting for the T Rex head to appear. What a fun book! 3y
