Bk6 of #JumpStart2020 is done, just under the wire! I got through a few chapters of Say Nothing but realised I needed a break from NF, so picked this up from my #StartedTBR pile & finished it in 5hrs. It turned into a gripping supernatural thriller & was awesome. Highly recommend.🙌 #Booked2020 #MillennialAuthor #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterL #PopSugar20 #PassesTheBechdelTest #MemoirsAndMysteries #Supernatural #JennyIs30 #LGBTQRomance #MountTBR2020👇👇

This was a decent thriller with good pacing and likable characters. I had a little trouble getting into the groove with Brooke and Asher, mostly because they seemed like they had a lot of back story/connection that is kind of glossed over. Still, an enjoyable read and I will be looking forward to the sequel! I'll be posting a more thorough review on my blog soon, as this is a review copy kindly gifted to me from @revellbooks ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) which of course does not impact my opinions.

This was an engaging and fun read with plenty of adventure and action and likable main characters. There were times when the continuity of the world-building stuttered a little, but overall a fun pick.

This was another #NewYearWhoDis pick, so thanks for the recommendation @Cupcake12 & for the match @monalyisha !!

TheAromaofBooks This also checked off the Debut box for #JanuaryBookBingo and the Non-Human Characters box for #TurningPagesBingo! 4d
Cupcake12 Moon locket is next in the series 😉 4d

Bk5 for #JumpStart2020 was fantastic! Just as good as the 1st book in this series, this one follows the younger siblings of the MCs in that as well as their friends. The tension of not knowing who‘s behind it all is as high & the reveal at the end, though part was obvious by then, contains a shock as well. 5⭐️ #Booked2020 #FinishInADay #LitsyAtoZ2020 #LetterO #PopSugar20 #InvolvingSocialMedia #AntiAlphabetSoupChallenge #LetterA #WinterBookBingo👇👇

Clwojick Oooh. I still have to get to this series 5d

The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind | William Kamkwamba, Bryan Mealer

Pickpick

This memoir was about so much more than just a disadvantaged Malawian boy creating a windmill for electricity. At its core is a tale of ingenuity in the face of adversity, coupled with the power of friends, family, and strangers who believe in you and your potential. 4⭐️s! Other topics tackled included: scarcity, famine, effects of hunger on the brain, predatory price-gouging during famine, school fees and the cycle of poverty,👇🏽

lele1432 “Magic” and superstition used as a scapegoat for HIV/AIDS and famine, deforestation aiding in flooding and drought, farm livelihood dependent upon weather and fertilizer, and government corruption. It packed in a LOT and I admit some of the technical parts went over my head. But overall, an inspirational story I‘m glad to have read! Thanks @RachelO! (edited) 6d

4thhouseontheleft I really like this book too. And, wow! #PromptQueen 👏 6d
RachelO Your prompts!! Brilliant! 🤣😂🤣 So glad you enjoyed it - he really did pack a lot in there. It shouldn‘t have, but the school fees thing really shocked me - it had just never occurred to me that the family would need to pay for his education in those circumstances. 6d
lele1432 @RachelO yes! I know here in the States we really take free primary/secondary education for granted. The school fees situation creating this cycle of poverty despite his obvious talent and ability to learn was heartbreaking. But it had a happy ending! 😊 6d

Mehso-so

3 / 50

• Thank God it was only a little more than an hour on audiobook. The narrator's accent was atrocious ? and the story was lame ? Rated so-so because it's #StephenKing and for once he understood the power of brevity.

This one also satisfies my outdated #JanuaryBookBingo #challenge for "fireworks on the cover"

I'll have to see what other #prompts I can satisfy with this book •

After a lot of intense/emotional reading, I was ready for something a little fluffier. I've had this Nora Roberts series sitting around for a while - a quartet of books about a (fictional) royal family. Relaxing, gently entertaining, and nothing stressful - just what I was looking for! Not her best work, but still enjoyable. And who doesn't enjoy a good family tree?

lele1432 I have not seen this one before! Is this your own bingo card? Not that I need another reading challenge lol, but I love these prompts!! 1w
TheAromaofBooks @lele1432 I think it's the one from bookishfirst. I've seen this one around a lot, although I have a different first that I think may be newer since it references 2020. I will tag you on the blank copy if I find it!! 1w
Readage @lele1432 It's not mine; I've been looking for the original post on Litsy and can't find it. This is from another user's profile with one space marked out before I copied it for my use. I like the prompts as well and hope I can find the monthly bingo boards for the rest of the year!! 🤞 7d
