This book is like a good old-fashioned game of telephone in thriller form.

Its twisty, sordid tale is told by multiple unreliable narrators (there are no heroes in this book, everyone is an asshole to varying degrees), and I loved how all the narratives converged into a cohesive and satisfying ending.

I had a lot of fun trying to guess all the twists and turns, but the truth is I never really saw them coming!

The book is even more rewarding when you listen to it. It really felt like I was following a true crime podcast. I personally enjoyed seeing Pip embrace her shadow and question the person she truly is and the image she's built for herself. It was also really refreshing to get a break from the missing girl/woman in danger trope. Unique, imaginative, fun, and entertaining as hell. I'm all in on this series.

“I think she was hurt that I wasn‘t that interested in her pregnancy. We had less in common. Then, when the baby was born, it took up all her time. I understand that—she was exhausted—but she became less interesting, if you know what I mean.” Cynthia pauses and crosses her long legs. “I think she should have gone back to work after the baby was a few months old, but she didn‘t want to. I think she felt she had to be the perfect mother.”

A hot mess, but in a (mostly) good way. Sucked me in from the very beginning. I was screaming at my Kindle by the end of the first few pages. A preposterous, but fun and easy read. If you enjoy a twisty, convoluted plot and questionable characters, you'll love this one.

At the time Vito Corleone didn't know the effect of this smile. It was chilling because it attempted no menace. He smiled as if it was some private joke only he himself could appreciate. But since he smiled in that fashion only in affairs that were lethal and since the joke wasn't really private and since his eyes didn't smile and since his outward character was usually so reasonable and quiet, the sudden unmasking of his true self was frightening

I read this for the 50th anniversary of the film. And while the film is undoubtedly excellent, do yourself a favor and read this book. There is a richness to the characters, even the minor ones, that is somewhat lost on screen. Michael's tragic, negative arc is so much more of a gut punch when you see it from the pages. A thoroughly satisfying read.

This one managed to keep me guessing until (almost) the end. And I actually didn't mind the shifting points of view. I enjoyed getting into some of the other character's heads. It really rounded out the narrative for me. I suppose there is some content in this book that could be triggering for some. Wasn't an issue for me, but I thought I'd put it out there for anyone considering giving it a read. All in all, I enjoyed it.

Such a fun read! It reminded me so much of the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries I used to read as a kid but definitely updated for this century. Technically middle grade but meaty enough for us adults. I will likely read the rest of the book in the series as well.

Probably my favorite ever graphic novel. Definitely not touchy feely. It's dark, sinister, and asks questions for which there are no easy answers. Rereading this ahead of watching the new film adaptation.

Well I loved 3 am and even 3:10 am but this one was just meh for me. Nick Pirog's books are usually more fast paced and with higher stakes and I guess I didn't find this particular journey as interesting. I'm hoping 3:34 am is better.

Too many thoughts crowded her head, and all of them were tainted with the image of that shadow creature lurching toward her and the golden shrouds' inhuman laugh.
