Phryne sets out to solve a disappearance and a murder and in the process takes her plane out to the mountains in Australia (near Talbotville). I enjoy the series mainly because of the historical setting e.g. the Green Mill was an actual dance hall in Melbourne.

My third finish for #SuperSeptember. The fifth book in the Phryne Fisher series and we have a murder in a jazz club to start the action. There is also a plane flight to the Australian Alps and a visit to a hermit in the mountains.
As always Phryne is tenacious, courageous and full of lust. I enjoy these romps and look forward to the next in the series.

Bk26 of June & Bk8 of #LittenListen is done! A reread of the 5th Phryne novel on audiobook. I love the audio versions, it gives the books that Aussie flavour, the narrator is perfect. Phryne is dancing with Charles Freeman when a marathon dancer drops dead at her feet. When Charles goes missing, she‘s hired by his mother to find him, which leads to flying her Gypsy Moth into the Victorian Alps looking for his brother. #phryneappreciationclub

This time Phryne‘s witnessing of a murder during a dance marathon leads her to investigate the blackmailing of gay men and to hunt for a missing shellshocked son/brother who doesn‘t wish to be found.

Another winner in my #PhryneMarathon This is one of my favourites, the descriptions of the Australian Alps is just so beautiful. I could definitely live in Vic‘s hut, out there in the great silence. As long as I had my books & tea, I could live in solitude quite happily. The depiction of Vic‘s shell shock also rang true, my uncle is a Vietnam Vet who has PTSD which I witnessed as a child. So sad what they all went through. All up another 5⭐️ read.

Up next in my #PhryneMarathon is The Green Mill Murder. Phryne is at the Green Mill dancing with Charles Freeman when a man drops dead on the dance floor. When Charles goes missing before the cops get there, it turns out the dead man has been blackmailing him & now he‘s a prime suspect in the murder. Phryne is hired by his mother to find him and prove him innocent, but the Freeman‘s are not as clean as they appear. #phryneappreciationclub

Book 2 completed for #24b4monday
Not much to say about Phryne that I haven't already! I feel like I have to read one for every readathon. She's fun, modern, and gets into lots of trouble. This one did seem a bit more tame than usual, but it was still a good read.

I love Phryne Fisher. I don‘t know what to say about these books anymore except they are delightful. Phryne is working on solving a murder while also searching for a missing army veteran, and does it with F.L.A.I.R.

I need a good book recommendation! I just abandoned Ngaio Marsh's Overture to Death because I could not relate to any of the characters. Before. I finished Kerry #Greenwood's The Green Mill Murder, Michelle #MacNamara's I'll be gone in the dark, and binge read Rhys #Bowen's Lady Georgiana Rannoch series.
I'm open for mysteries, but could also switch genres again to a good YA (does not have to be new!) or something else completely #recommendsday

#BookMail Pt1 I now have the whole series in the Art Deco covers finally. They‘re all so beautiful, it‘s hard to pick a favourite but Blood And Circuses & Murder And Mendelssohn are two that I really love. Story wise though, this one, Murder In Montparnesse & Dead Mans Chest are my favourites to read. Highly recommended, the books are so much better than the tv series📺👎📖👍 #phryneappreciationclub

Another solid Phryne fisher book. This one took place at a jazz club!

Continuing to make my way through the Phryne Fisher books this year. Very much enjoyed this one, about a murder in a dance hall, which ended up with a hermit and some very temperamental musicians.

I‘m on book 5 in my reread of the Phryne Fisher series via audiobook and loving every minute of it! I encourage you to give the audiobooks a go, as the narrator Stephanie Daniel is amazing. This was more enjoyable this time around as well. The audiobook makes you feel like you are right there with all of the wonderful characters. I highly recommend this series. 4.5⭐️

I just thought I would share the mess of books beside my bed. Most of them I have read a little bit in already. I finished the tagged audio book today so I‘m working my way through them. 🙂

I didn‘t think this was quite as good as the first 4, but it was still fun to read.

Please talk to me my Litsy friends! I'm at incredibly boring family function. Thinking of hiding out in a stall and reading latest Phryne Fisher book on my Kindle app.
What are y'all doing tonight? Or tell me your worst family function story. Or some bookish conversation. Save Me! 😨

Decided I didn't want to read anything tonight while I ate dinner. Since I was listening to the Fosse soundtrack in my car, I decided I was in a 1920's kind of mood and watched some of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. #stuckinthepast #fallintobooks

#FallIntoBooks #day21 #SetInFaveEra I love the Jazz Age,that period in between the wars with its fashion, Art Deco, music and the celebration of being alive after the horrendous death toll of WWI & the Spanish Flu Epidemic. I adore books set in this era, which is why I'm in the #phryneappreciationclub & #christiecrimeclub plus some newer authors like Nicola Upson,Carola Dunn & Sulari Gentill.Give me a cloche hat, a string of beads & a trumpet solo.

Hanging out in the laundromat with Phyrnne Fisher - because why not?

I don't know how many times I've posted about these books, but I couldn't help myself for #allthesingleladies. Phryne is a badass single woman with no interest in "settling down" (terrible phase, btw) and it's so refreshing to read. #phryneforever

Bliss, thy name is #phrynefisher , pink rose dress, and #readinginahammock. 😍😍

This is the first book l've read in the Miss Fisher series and l truly loved it. Fantastic setting (l'm in awe of the research Ms Kerry obviously undertook) and fantastic cast of characters, all with strengths and flaws that make them so endearing. Good mystery too.

Excellent, as always. These are always lovely diversions. Phyrne Fisher has got to be one of my favorite literary detectives.

"Corpses, per se, did not discompose her."
I read that initially as 'decompose' and now I can't stop giggling.
I have never really listened to jazz apart from when my dad's shuffle happens to come across some. But darn, I want to hear Nerine from this book.
I think I liked Tintagel more the first time I read it. This time I found him almost creepy. Dedication to art is all well and good, but not to the extent of concealing murder.

Finished Bk2 of this anthology,The Green Mill Murder. I have to say that Charles in the book version is very much a nastier piece of work than naive Charles in the tv series. I really loved this, Phryne is always amazing but the level of research the author put into Bert & Cec's WWI experiences to make them feel real has to be applauded, you could see the Gallipoli/ANZAC experience as they were talking, it was so clear. Well done. Lest We Forget

Onto book 2 in this anthology, The Green Mill Murder. Phryne Fisher is dancing at The Green Mill, a speakeasy in Melbourne, when a fellow dancer drops dead at her feet. When her dance partner, and a member of the band she becomes involved with, come to the polices attention as suspects, she whips out her detecting skills to find the real killer. Love Phryne, love the Jazz Age & love that this is Australian fiction.🇦🇺

Todays #bookmail is The Hunger Games box set, which I've only ever had as audiobooks before & it was on special, and an omnibus of Miss Fisher mysteries. I definitely think September will be a #nobookbuymonth😏
