4.5/5
A wonderful reimaging of Sleeping Beauty begins when a baby is replaced by a changeling and grows up in Faerie with her Fae family instead of her human family. It was a great, quick read, but I did find the first half a little upsetting as it really dove into the idea of what would happen to the baby who was stolen to be replace by the changeling.
I thought the narrator dig a great job brining Toadling's voice to life.
Another re-telling of 'The Goose Girl'. I tend not to pick up re-tellings but I was hit by a BB for this. Oddly, I was expecting an Eastern slant, given the author's name, but it's not there. The writing is decent but, so far, the plot meanders and I don't fully get the protagonist. She actually prefers her substituted life. At the moment, 3.5 stars but I'm still reading.
This is a book that I go back to. It was one I found in high school but such a good story that I just have to keep the-reading when in a book slump.
I‘ve been reading too much YA/NA fantasy & romantasy lately, a little goes a long way for me in these genres & this was pretty weak in comparison to my other current reads. But I didn‘t want to DNF just because I was comparing it to Iron Flame 😅
Nothing happens until the last 3rd of the book & suddenly it became terrifying & weird. So it was a long journey to get to the good part, but then I was riveted. I didn‘t care about the romance though
Not the best thing ever, nor the worst. It felt uneven, and the last section…meh. I get why it‘s there, but I didn‘t care for it. I didn‘t hate this, might recommend it for specific readers, but I wouldn‘t read it again and I wouldn‘t expend effort looking for others by this author.
My October Reads! I read so much that I can barely fit them on one collage. That‘s a good problem to have. 🤣
