Reading these along with my 5th grader! I love when he connects personally with book characters and I can see his own involvement in the plot 😍
I adore Chris Colfer. From his days on Glee, to his activism and what he has done since with this series, he is an incredible person. LoS is my daughter‘s favorite series along with HP, and it is with all of that in mind I give this a 👍. This is a reread; last time I listened to the audiobook. I do hope the writing and character development improves in the subsequent books. #bbrc #mgme #writtenbyanactor
Taking a much-needed break from the hell that is sorting LEGO sets. 🥵
Made GF zucchini bread yesterday! It turned out better than I expected. 😃 I‘m antsy to finish this reread and move on to the next one in the series.

Keeping hubby and daughter company while they wash our cars. I‘m providing moral support. They lasted 2 minutes before they started arguing with each other. 😂😂
Started my next #MGME #BBRC book, which is actually a reread. Reading the whole series for the written by an actor prompt.
Woof, this was a tough book to get through because it was so disappointing. One of my middle school patrons LOVES this series so I moved it up on my TBR. Sadly, I found it very shallow, too much action, not enough character development, and a trite writing style.
I‘m book tracking with the Bookly app for this #24in48. It‘s great! Wish I could get the infographic, but my app keeps crashing. :( @24in48
While I didn't love the language, this is a very accessible, really fun riff on fairy tales for middle grade readers. I read this aloud at bedtime and both the 10 year old and 6 year old squealed with laughter at Connor's comments and could relate to Alex and Connor's sibling relationship. Loved that it comments on the older non-Disney tales and plays around with its own version of the stories.
3⭐️—— alrighty then three days later and I‘ve finished the wishing spell and I have to say it wasn‘t that bad. It wasn‘t great but granted i am a seventeen year old reading a book meant for young readers. For kids its a great book with good adventure and a good take on your classic fairytales. Personally the ending felt rushed but i also adored how Colfer used the original stories instead of Disney‘s.
While this book gave me definite “The Tenth Kingdom” feelings, it was a quick and enjoyable read. I‘m a bit (a lot) ahead of the intended age range but I didn‘t find many “that‘s just not believable” or “I rolled my eyes so hard I saw the back of my head” moments. It was fun, and I‘ll be passing it down to my 10 year old nephew. #MG #fantasy
Started this one for bedtime reading since I see It being read by the kids at school a lot. On the second chapter and it's fun to read the school teacher decry fairy tale retellings when this book is clearly going to play with many of them.
I really need to pick up a book of the Grimm versions.
So far this book is good. I may have been reading to many dark books lately but I keep waiting for something bad to happen, but no. This is such a kid friendly book with an actual kid adventure. Even the bad guys are kid friendly. It has been such a long time since I have read something like this it threw me for a loop.
Audiobooks save the day! My 7th grade daughter was getting anxious and cranky on the way to her lacrosse practice today. So I turned on my current audiobook to distract us. Fortunately we tuned in just as the kids magically fall into their story book. Turned our frowns right upside down!
And I can already see why this series is so popular in my school. Chris Colfer has many talents!

“Oh mom, can‘t we just listen to this while we eat? It will be bonding. Besides I talked to you at dinner yesterday, doesn‘t that count?”
I have listened to Chris Colfer narrate almost non stop for years, between his six books (that and glee), the go to audio for my child, we‘ve even gone to listen to him read in person.
So yes, I‘d love to have more bonding experiences.
I‘ve really been jumping into this year‘s reading challenge. My goal is to read 200 books!

This was the book I got so I could read it and discuss it with one of my students that loves it. It is a really fun book with a great twist on fairytales. The audio was read by the author and he did a fabulous job. If you don‘t know Chris Colfer played Kurt on Glee. This is the first in the series and I think I am going to stick with it because it is light and fun.
Made a quick stop at the library on the way home to grab the tagged book. I will never take the awesomeness of a library for granted ❤️📚
One of my most favorite students was talking about this book and the series. He said he loved it so much and it sucked when you love a good book and nobody else has read it so you can‘t talk about it with anyone. Y‘all know that hit me in all the feels and I of course thought of Litsy. I told him I would read them and we could have our own little book club. Not that I have the time but seriously a kid after my own heart. Has anyone read this one?
The Land of Stories is magical New York Times Best Seller, MF book written by Chris Colfer, excellent for LC and IR. This book takes you on a mystical adventure of twins, Alex and Conner as they find themselves in so famous fairy tales. http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/lesson-plans/enchanting-reader... the link above is an activity for students to rewrite famous fairytales! Not only do they get revise

#ReadingResolutions • May 9|Wishful • I work and volunteer with a lot of kids who have been enjoying this series. Hoping to get around to reading it soon! I love connecting with kids through common books 💙📚
