This adorable RA F picture-book is a must have in your future classroom especially if you want to encourage your students to read more. Written and illustrated by Tad Hills, the story is about how Rocket the dog learns how to read from a little yellow bird. This book has won the Parents Choice Silver honor and has been on the New York Times Best seller list.

“Grandfather‘s Journey” written and illustrated by Allen Say is a wonderful HF RA picture book. This picture book is about a mans love for two countries, the USA and Japan and his constant desire to go back and forth over the course of his life. “Because of Thursday” written by Patricia Polacco is a wonderful RF and RA picture book for a teacher to have in their classroom. Annie, the main character, loves Thursday‘s and has a restaurant with her husband. Some unfortunate-events have happened and this book takes you along for the ride with a great ending. #UCFLAE3414SP20

Auggie,the main character in the novel, has face deformities who is finally going to school after being homeschooled for several years. He is scared and there are some challenges. This book has won the New York Times Best seller.

“The Three Little Aliens and the Big Bad Robot” written by Margaret McNamara and illustrated by Mark Fearing is an adorable F RA book. It‘s based on the classic tale of Three Little Pigs but in space with aliens and robots! This book has not won an award but it should for its creativity. The UDL principle that would be used would be 1.1 which is offer ways of customizing the display of information since this story is take on the original tale.

It‘s about a gorilla named Ivan who lived in a mall for many years and lived with other animals. Earth! My first 4.54 Billion Years is an adorable SF and RA about Earth and how it was formed, the cycles it went through, etc. The author Stacy McAnulty and the illustration was by David Litchfield. The author wrote the book in a child friendly way that it would be easy for a child to read. This book has not won award yet but I think it will win an award soon!

The story unfolds to Henry eventually finding a friend who accepts him for he is. This book won the Schneider Family Book Award Honor Book. It covers inclusion and the important message of being kind to one another.

Agavitt1 I read this for one of my reviews as well and it made me remember how it actually got me thinking of how we should treat others as a small child. Obviously, it‘s about a tree but it does make one think you should treat others well, and therefor I agree with you that it‘s an excellent book to share with students! 4y

The Book Hog who is a cute and sweet pig who collects all of these books but unfortunately he couldn‘t read them. A sweet librarian named Miss Olive offered to read all the books that The Book Hog had.

DrSpalding We are teachers is another favorite website of mine. As you noted, many books can be used in a variety of ways. Read aloud or storytelling works well along with readers theater! I had the pleasure of watching five second grade boys share this as a readers theater and they were truly loving it! 4y

SequoiaC123 What a great picture to share on Litsy! I have never read this book, but your description of it makes me want to. I think you could use this book in the classroom to make world connections. For example, have the students take a tour of the school and write down the beautiful things they see. Or have them keep a journal to jot down what they see on the way home from school or on the weekends. You could help them understand the beauty of our world! 4y
