I‘ve been enjoying the DC Icon series. This one was a little lackluster compared to the Superman and Wonder Woman, both of which were great. Next up: Catwoman!!
Not my favorite of the DC Icon series, but an entertaining read. Batman is my favorite and my expectations were high. I do think Lu kept true to the spirit of Batman and DC. It was fun to see cameos of faves like Dent and Gordon.

I'm not a Batman fan, but I really enjoyed this book. In fact I flew through it. Bruce Wayne is only 18 and has yet to become Batman. He's just enough good guy, tough, yet breaks the rules to see how he's going to become the Batman. Very enjoyable!

Last book of 2018! I enjoyed this one more than Wonder Woman but I was hoping for some better villains.
In reading this one, I realized just how much of a Batman fan I am as I couldn't suppress what I already know of him in order to take this book as a reimagining or retelling.
Listening to Will Damron read this was a delight and he brought so many emotions to Bruce that helped the writing be a bit more grounded and for me, that was the real reason I enjoyed it because I was close to DNFing this more than once.

I listened to this on audiobook also and really enjoyed it. The story was gripping and I loved that it was an origin story I hadn‘t heard or seen before. Bruce Wayne is 18 and just graduating college when he ends up doing community service in Arkham asylum , where he meets a convicted murderer called Madeleine, and there‘s more to her than you initially think: of course. Loved it. 5 stars based on pure enjoyment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I'm really enjoying this series so far. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Catwoman!

To continue with my Marvel/DC Icon Hero mood...I know I would find unbelievable actions but I couldn't stand the story which seemed was written not a rush manner.Young Bruce a billionaire who is target due to his fortune was sentenced to do community service in a maximum secured prison. He worked where one member of this gang was placed & had contact with her due to poor supervision & fell in love with her?🤦🏻♀️Some scenes had ok actions2.5⭐️
I'm a big fan of superhero movies and Batman (the Keaton version at any rate) is one of my fave characters so was excited to see what Lu would do. While it's not bad, I wouldn't say there's anything special about it. It filled some time, didn't require a lot of thought and left no book hangover. It was perfect for cleaning my reading palate after a very emotional read but not one I'd rave over.
I‘d go like 3.5 stars for this one. I honestly enjoyed it and through it was a good origin story for Batman. However because it‘s short I feel like a lot of things fell kinda flat. The other characters weren‘t fleshed out really and there could have been more action. It‘s a fun fast read if you like Batman.
A gripping read for Batman fans. Marie Lu dwells into the life of 18 years old Bruce Wayne who is yet to face his first challenge, yet to don the cape of the dark knight. A teen who's still trying to come to terms with the responsibilities he has come to inherit from his parents.
I wasn‘t sure about this book coming into it, but I quite enjoyed it! I liked that it was about Wayne before he became Batman. There were many instances of foreshadowing, and seeing a lot of the characters before they became part of the ‘Batman story‘ was pretty cool! Reviews say that this is the worst in the DC Icons series, but since I loved it, I‘ll definitely pick up the others!
It's Pretzel Day! Noshing on my free soft pretzel and listening to the tagged audiobook. I've been driving a lot for work, so it had been my main source of books lately. Never listened to them much before, but they are quite enjoyable. Any audiobook recommendations (fiction or nonfiction)?
Currently reading Batman: Nightwalker! 20% in to it, Marie Lu might be my new favorite author!! 😍🦇
Finished Batman‘s origin story on the drive home today. Thanks @randomhouse for the arc at #aasl17 🦇
Bruce Wayne is big in my little man‘s life so I liked reading about him, even though I‘m not into super heroes. I didn‘t think it was as good as @lbardugo ‘s Wonder Woman but it still captured my attention all the way through. Our library copy arrived last week! 🦇
I enjoy Marie Lu‘s writing, but I was not a fan of this one. For a start, it is not a “Batman” book, it s a Bruce Wayne book. Yes, he does detective stuff, but not as the Bat. The other is it isn‘t very exciting and it is pretty telegraphed. One point when something was introduced, I said to myself, this will be used against them later and sure enough. The rumor was she wanted to do a Nightwing/Robin book instead. So-so.
Huge thanks to PRH International for sending me this copy.
My Rating : 3.5 out of 5 💫

Fun Batman story. An interesting take on an "origin" story -- I use the term origin loosely. I liked how Lu wrote teen Bruce and brought in an intriguing new character. Overall, the story fell s bit flat. Still worth a read though. #bookaddict #booknerd #bookish #bibliophile #bookworm #booklove #bookstagram
