Not what I was expecting but I enjoyed this entire adventure on my first audiobook during a road trip. It is a great adventure read following a Shepard and his life, but a little preachy towards the end. Would read again though. 💕

In addition to loving of books, I love #yoga. Why not combine the two?!?! 🤷♀️
I wanted to share this event since it‘s a virtual or in-person book club and easy flow yoga class. Sunday November 6 at 10am EST.
I think it is $5, which covers the cost of the instructor/leader of the book discussion.
You can register online www.wellnessloungepgh.com
In January there is a study of Yimas & Niyamas offered.

Sadly this really did not do it for me. I finished it as it was a book club pick otherwise I would have given up on it. Maybe it‘s just me
It is not only the goal that‘s important but the journey required to reach the goal. This book was a bit of a slow read for me, but it reminded me of when I was practicing the violin. No matter how much guidance we get from others, in order to get better, it ultimately comes down to finding our own method and style of playing.
This is one book that I read just because other people raved about but I did not like it at all. The beginning was intriguing to me but then I just liked it less and less the more I read it.
The Alchemist
Paulo Coelho
“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second‘s encounter with God and with eternity.”

The Alchemist seems just a toxic quasi-parable turned novel. Boy has dream, follows his heart to find his Personal Legend (I got really sick of that phrase), meets a bunch of new age motivational speeches in the desert, and finds the treasure was in the journey itself all along. The universe conspires to help people who *really* look for it, you see, and if you die unfulfilled, welp, sounds like a you problem.
“When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.“
"It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting."
For #readafrica2022 and for the country of #Egypt I selected this one. I have to say this wasn‘t what I thought it was going to be like. This ended up being a wonderful read and I found myself captives by the writing style and the characters. #travelthroughbooks @Librarybelle @BarbaraBB

I‘ve been reading this since Christmas, between other books. Good story, reminds me of Pearl S. Buck‘s The Good Earth. The story drags a bit, or perhaps sitting down to read so late in the night is the problem…
Homie just turned himself into the wind and said cool
Because what else do you do when you have to get to your child's school 50 minutes early to get a decent parking spot?
Although I can't imagine this is part of fulfilling my Personal Legend...
I think it‘s important to note that it‘s a self-help book.
The story follow a young shepherd who has a dream about a treasure and decides to follow his dream to fulfil his destiny. Along the way, he meets different people and learns how to listen to his heart and omens.
If you are looking for a motivation to follow your dreams this may be a pick for you! Otherwise, you may want to skip this one!
I heard a lot about this book, and finally decided to try it as an audiobook. It did not disappoint. The story was based on a young shepherd boy going through life and learning many of life‘s secrets. He traveled the world in a quest for treasure. He met many unique characters and learned many valuable lessons along the way. I am glad that I took a chance on take book, as it also taught me a thing or two about what‘s most important in life.
I listened to the audiobook read by Jeremy Irons this time. I love the book so much!!! The narrator was great!!! This book is in the 31 books mentioned in Criminal Minds or read by Dr. Spencer Reid list. This is the first book that read on the list.
Given it a go!
Enjoyable tale of a boy‘s search for meaning.
This book made me want to live my life by just following omens. Maybe I'll come across my own personal legend! I did find it pretty long and boring at some parts which is why I gave it so-so 📚
I haven‘t read many books that feature so few female characters… but it is a poetic & fun adventure. #book21of2021
“I don‘t live in either my past or my future. I‘m interested only in the present. If you can concentrate always on the present, you‘ll be a happy man. Life will be a party for you, a grand festival, because life is the moment we‘re living now”
“Why do we have to listen to our hearts?” the boy asked.
“Because, wherever your heart is, that is where you will find your treasure.”
So, I finally reached the Pyramids of Egypt after a delightful journey through the pages of “The Alchemist”. Thank you @Sharv_Sona for inviting me to this exciting and enlightening journey.

„Gleichgültig was ein Mensch tut, er steht jederzeit im Mittelpunkt der WELTGESCHICHTE, doch meist weiß er es nicht“
When your book is just sitting there, taunting you, while you sit at home working. Is it 5 yet? 😭
I did not read this book, I travelled it along with the shepherd boy(the protagonist). Because It is not just a novel, it is a journey full of adventure, spirituality, emotions, surprises, and lessons. While reading this book the person becomes part of the Caravan imagined by the author.
😇 “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” 😇
This wasn't as mind blowing and life changing as I was expecting it to be, but I get the hype and do believe it's worth the read. One of my favorite quotes:
"There is one great truth on this planet: whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth."
Loved this book! I did not think it would be for me not it was so good!

Day 20: A Gifted Book
Since the internet & all phone data is out in the county where I live...I'm gonna go ahead and do tomorrow's while I can. My older sister gave me this book almost 2 years ago, for my 2nd sobriety birthday. I LOVED the message of this book!
Charming story of a boy who follows his “Personal Legend” or dream. It reads like a fable and is not afraid of touching on spiritual issues. https://cannonballread.com/2021/09/the-alchemist-elcicco/
1. I struggled with this at first, but this is ultimately the best road trip I could think.
