Let's Talk Spanish | Tracy Van Bishop

Mehso-so

#spanishbook #9 - This was a Christmas gift from a coworker. Not the kinda thing I'd pick for myself at my current level of spanish (your girl just enrolled in an online advanced spanish conversation lab 🤓) because it's a very basic guidebook for beginners. But it was fun, and I did highlight some new words here and there. And I love adding reference books to my little collection 🥰

FlowerFairy I‘m trying to learn Spanish as well! Key word here is “trying”. LoL Never seem to have enough time to work on it for an extended period. Going to have a look at the books in your photo. 3mo
CaliforniaCay @FlowerFairy have you ever tried using DuoLingo? I talked about wanting to learn spanish for years but didn't take it seriously until 2020 when I started using DuoLingo. Sometimes for just 5 minutes a day. But I kept doing that for a year before my curiosity took over and I started immersing myself and learning in other ways. Gotta start somewhere 🤓 3mo
Cheshirecat913 Awesome!! I've been, I guess you could say, an intermediate beginner for years for learning Spanish. Just haven't managed to bring myself to try more fully. 🙃 Good luck with your journey!! 3mo
CaliforniaCay @Cheshirecat913 I feel like I've been stuck in this intermediate beginner stage for a while but I'm determined to step up my progress this year. I hope you find some good Spanish books to help you progress, and I wish you luck on your journey as well! 3mo

#spanishbook #8- 2024 will be my 4th consecutive year of immersing myself on the way to fluency, and I've built up a nice little collection of libros en español. One of my reading goals for the new year is to read more of them!
"Ríete de este torpe
muchacho que te quiere,
pero cuando yo abro
los ojos y los cierro,
cuando mis pasos van,
cuando vuelven mis pasos,
niégame el pan, el aire,
la luz, la primavera,
pero tu risa nunca
porque me moriría"

ElizaMarie I absolutely love this author. I have a couple of his books, where it has Spanish one side and English on the other side. It really helps. :) Love your goal for 2024! 4mo
CaliforniaCay @ElizaMarie That's how this one is! Yeah having the English and Spanish side by side is super helpful. I don't need to look up every word I'm not familiar with and it goes my so much faster 😏 4mo

El Alquimista | Paulo Coelho

This was the 7th #spanishbook I've read so far on my spanish journey. I read it a couple years ago in English so it was easy to figure out what was going on even if I didn't understand every word. I read every single page out loud and I really noticed an improvement in my pronunciation and even the speed at which I can speak Spanish by the end.

I hope you can understand my explanation so you can practice 🤗 11mo
CaliforniaCay @Gissy Si entiendo perfectamente! Muchisimas gracias por la recomendación. Leí Siddhartha en inglés hace muchos años para la escuela y me gustó. Así que me encataría leerlo en español ❤️❤️ 10mo
Reggie Wow, I‘m so jealous! Way to get better on your Spanish! 10mo
Gissy @Reggie I‘m here if you need to practice too🤗 10mo

La Perdida | Jessica Abel

I got this book as a birthday gift (along with some Bad Bunny stuff because he's my current obsession 🥰) I finished it in a couple days - I was so hooked! This is a very entertaining graphic novel that follows the story of a Mexican American woman and her misguided year living in Mexico City. It's mostly written in English but I'm counting this as my 6th #Spanishbook because of how much (and how interestingly) the language is used throughout 🇲🇽

This was my 5th #spanishbook so far. My first time reading Neruda, but not the last! My only complaint is that the english and spanish versions weren't side by side, but all of the English translations were in the front with the poems in their original Spanish in the back. I had to flip back and forth a lot but still worth the read because I learned a lot of new spanish words. Lots of Neruda's handwritten notes are included.

Cmo Luchar | Thich Nhat Hanh

Read this back in April. This was the 4th #Spanishbook I've read so far. It wasn't completely new to me though because I read the English version a couple years ago, and loved it so much that I gave it away, but continued to collect more from Thich Nhat Hanh's 'How To' series. Full of simple but very helpful insights on the role that anger plays in our lives, and how we can transform it to be happier. Good for readers interested in mindfulness 😌
