dabbe @Leftcoastzen My sincerest apologies if it came across as nasty—that wasn‘t the intent. But it‘s hard to deny that these figures spark strong, polarized reactions, which felt in line with the prompt. No malice meant, just an observation on how divisiveness unfortunately plays out in public discourse. I should have stuck to posting a fictional book that had the word in it--keeping it light so that no one was offended. Thanks for the gentle poke. 🙂 4d

The Alchemist | Paulo Coelho

These two novels - seem to either be loved or hated. Tried Alchemist x2 book, bailed. Listened to audio all of it - still don‘t like it. Read Catcher when I was young, did nothing for me. Read it a few years ago, do not LOVE, but understand it better with its unique format and premise.

ChaoticMissAdventures I didn't read the Alchemist until my 20s, and by then I had spent my late teens traveling, had gotten married and lived in 2 states with my husband. I have always thought that I had more world experience than the MC and so the book felt trite. I have always believed that some books need to be read super early before I become jaded. 😂 4d

mrp27 I‘ve read Alchemist once, didn‘t like it and couldn‘t get into it. Read Catcher once as a teen and absolutely loved it. I want to reread but I‘m afraid an adult reread will spoil my love for it. 4d

BooksandCoffee4Me Reading is a personal experience like eating — we can share the experiences in community, sampling each other‘s choices, but we don‘t have to order the same things in order to enjoy the shared experiences. It‘s actually encouraging when I find someone else who didn‘t care for books that are very popular and on some “should read” list. @Eggs, I‘m with you on both of these. 4d

Kitta I read the alchemist as a teenager and found it okay, I didn‘t really see what the hype was about. The catcher in the rye I read for school (early teens) which always has a tendency to suck the life out of books for me, except for this one and 1984. Loved both of those. 4d
