Big Fish
Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions | Daniel Wallace
In his prime, Edward Bloom was an extraordinary man. He could outrun anybody. He never missed a day of school. He saved lives and tamed giants. Animals loved him, people loved him, women loved him. He knew more jokes than any man alive. At least that’s what he told his son, William. But now Edward Bloom is dying, and William wants desperately to know the truth about his elusive father—this indefatigable teller of tall tales—before it’s too late. So, using the few facts he knows, William re-creates Edward’s life in a series of legends and myths, through which he begins to understand his father’s great feats, and his great failings. The result is hilarious and wrenching, tender and outrageous.

The book wasn‘t bad but this is one case where I feel like the movie was better.

#bookfitnesschallenge my goal is to keep up with one mile a day. This is a busy 4 days, besides work and school, my daughter is 17 today (gulp) and She is performing all weekend in Big Fish for the youth summer program. (Middle girl in white). BUT!!!! I am not feeling overwhelmed, depressed or anxious or exhausted! All wins for about 8 weeks of developing habits!

The movie 'Big Fish' is one of my favorites, and I might say that I liked it better than the book. However, I really loved this book and the story Itself is irreplaceable to me, it's just that special.

JamieArc This is one of my favorite book to film adaptations as well (and I might also like the movie better). 1mo

(Day 17 - #HookedOnAFeeling)

*Of the many movies this song was used in, “Big Fish” was NOT one of them. But I ask you, who doesn‘t think of fishing when you hear the word “hooked?” Well, anyway, I do...which led me to the tagged book by Daniel Wallace. And that‘s how my brain works...😂

2. Yes, apartment has two built into the walls.

Wasn‘t the biggest fan of this one, and I got really confused near the end. Overall kept my attention because during certain scenes I had to read sentences over to make sure I was reading them correct cause they were strange. Many allusions to mythology which I enjoyed but overall was not a fan of the plot.

tournevis The film is wonderful, very dream lime, but you have to let yourself be carried by it. It is not for everyone. Most of it is noy set in reality; it's memory and flight of fancy. 1y

OrangeMooseReads How does it compare to the movie (if you've seen the movie)? 2y
JessClark78 @OrangeMooseReads I love the movie. I didn't realize it was based on a book until I saw the book in the store. There are similarities but a lot of scenes from the film were not in the book. I like the movie better, but I thought the book was good too. 2y

This is storytelling at its finest! I loved the narrator's voice and how the "stories" are interwoven in so we can learn about his dying father. I loved when you couldn't tell what was real or just another story. Loved, loved this book! Now I need to go see the movie again!

"I think . . . that if a man could be said to be loved by his son, then I think that man could be considered great."
