Graveyard Book | Neil Gaiman
In this Newbery Medal-winning novel, Bod is an unusual boy who inhabits an unusual place he's the only living resident of a graveyard. Raised from infancy by the ghosts, werewolves, and other cemetery denizens, Bod has learned the antiquated customs of his guardians' time as well as their ghostly teachings such as the ability to Fade so mere mortals cannot see him.Can a boy raised by ghosts face the wonders and terrors of the worlds of both the living and the dead? And then there are being such as ghouls that aren't really one thing or the other. The Graveyard Book won the Newbery Medal and the Carnegie Medal and is a Hugo Award Winner for Best Novel.Supports the Common Core State Standards"

My first Neil Gaiman book and it was a quick easy read. An interesting concept but I m still not 100% sure I knew why Bod was being targeted. I‘m interested to keep reading his books.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Gaiman is a talented storyteller and this Audible version with a fabulous full cast really brings the book to life. There are a few paths I would have liked to see tread upon and explored and a few unanswered questions answered, but it was an enjoyable story with worthwhile characters that I felt enough about to have shed a tear or two.

Bonus—a short chapter at the end where Gaiman explains the backstory of how this book came to be.

My kids, and I, just finished listening to this wonderful story. They loved it as much as I did!

rkeo The audiobook says Neil Gaiman was a narrator. I didn't recognize his voice at all. Which character did he narrate? 5mo
KelliJo @rkeo he didn't play a character, he was the middle story. He told the detailed parts apart from the conversation. 5mo
rkeo He wasn't the main narrator, though, that's what's getting me. I'd recognize his voice out of a million people, and he was only in the author's note. I forget the main narrator's name, but it wasn't him. It's been driving me nuts. 5mo
See All 7 Comments
KelliJo I thought it was him! We are listening to Odd and the Frost Giants currently and they sound very similar to me. Now I'm curious. 5mo
KelliJo @rkeo so after some research, he voices Nehemiah Trott and Narrates the Essay at the end! 5mo
KelliJo Derek Jakobi is the Narrator. 5mo
rkeo Thanks! I couldn't find that info anywhere! 5mo

I finally finished this novel after what seems like forever lol. My schedule was just so busy I didn't have time to read. One thing I love about Neil Gaiman's novels is that he has such dark environments but everything still seems so light. I don't know how he does it. I really enjoyed the story of Bod and his very unique life living in a graveyard being raised by ghosts. The life he loves is unique, a little lonely but still filled with love.
