Ready for another day in my dad‘s antique store... not so secretly hoping it‘s slow so I don‘t get too many interruptions from my books 😂

I took the kids to daycare today so I could get some cleaning done. And then I crawled back into bed with this month‘s book club title and a new crochet project... I almost feel guilty as I look around at all the piles of laundry that need to be put away 😂

A sacred Hebrew book, created by a 15 c Muslim slave, survives the Diaspora, the Inquisition, and wars. Muslims, Christians, and Jews all have cared for this art piece, protecting it with their lives. Brooks has taken minute details such as a wine stain to create the most amazing stories. The 1 negative - I CAN'T SEE THE MAP.

I love this book. My daughter wanted to be a paleontologist since 4th grade. Until this year, when she had honors chemistry. I think I finally found a career that I could live precariously through her. Ancient book restoration. How cool!!!!

Can't wait to start. Reminds me of The Weight of Ink which I enjoyed.

I need your help!

I‘m currently writing a paper about readers‘ advisory in libraries, and part of the paper is to provide suggestions (both fiction & nonfiction) for someone who loved this book. We‘re allowed to use any resource to answer this question, so in addition to research, I wanted to ask my book family!

For those of you who have read it, what did you like about it? Have you read anything similar to it? What would you recommend?

This book provides a refreshing perspective as it takes you through the history of the Haggadah. I was hooked!

Ooh I rather liked this.
I appreciated the more modern aspects as I read it... however, on contemplating the whole book, I'm thinking more about the historic sections.
I now want to read March by her.

Love the plot synopsis of this.

Loving this book. The mix of present and past stories is fabulous.

Hannah Heath, rare book expert and rebellious adult child, discovers a bunch of tiny-whimsical-sort-of-squished-up-artifacts in the binding of a 15th-century Hebrew manuscript. Intrigued by these tiny-whimsical-sort-of-squished-up-artifacts, she embarks on a page-turning journey. This book about the book is carefully researched, well-crafted, and highly readable— with the exception of penultimate shenanigans ill-suited to a moody, sensitive novel.

Coffee, sunshine and a good book. Perfect. In reality I am ignoring the years I desperately need to clean.

This was my first #lmpbc book, and I found it quite fascinating. What do you reckon @ShookBelf @Christine11 @jhod ? Anyone fancy another round after this one?

This was a beautiful book; full of history, heartbreak, and hope. It took me longer than expected to read, but I think that's because it is a book that asks to be savoured rather than rushed through.

An Australian rare book specialist is given the opportunity to inspect and conserve the book, which dates back to 15th Century Spain. As she inspects it, she finds evidence that suggests the history of the Haggadah as it changes hands traveling from Spain to Sarajevo.

Perfect dedication. Excited to read this book that‘s been on my shelf for a couple of months.

I‘m rereading this for a library program and book club meeting (both in November) and enjoying it even more than the first time I read it.

Country 30: Bosnia and Herzegovina time! I toured Sarajevo, walked Stari Most (bridge from 1566), and hiked near Kravice waterfalls.
I adore this book. It is a reread for me - it has been about 10 years which is far too long. Hanna's job as a book conservator fascinates me, and I love all of the historical vignettes about how the book got to Sarajevo. It's based on a real Sarajevo Haggadah! 5/5

This started out so strong, but in the end just didn't work for me. I think she tried to throw too much into one book. I normally enjoy historicals with a little mystery, but this one was just so boring at times 😩

The blurb of the book has really piqued my interest so I'll be excited to dive in.

Giving this book a shot. This was one of those "bought because ✨pretty cover✨" books. The yellow parts in the photo are all shiny and gold and yeah I'm a sucker for a well-designed book cover. I do the same thing with wine, I will buy a bottle solely based on how pretty the label is ?

I cannot tell you how good this book is. I listened to most of it on audio and I really enjoyed the reader.

This is a fictional story about a real book. The author takes you back in time to learn about the book‘s journey to present day.

This month‘s book club selection with @StephMC82 is People of the Book. This is one I started a long time ago but remember never finishing. Picked it up today to see I was so close to done, at page 295!! This time I will be successful I‘m sure.

I‘m a little late in posting this, but here they are - my April reads. If I had to choose a least favorite, it would be Our Town. I loved People of the Book, Empire Falls, American Born Chinese and Brown Girl Dreaming equally.
