Ooh boy! This one is dark, spicy, and one of a kind. Two serial killers who murder serial killers meet, fall in love, and try to figure out a way to make each other happy, even if healthy isn‘t in the cards. Fascinating characters, dark themes, and a meet cute you‘d never imagine add up to a genre I didn‘t know existed-romantic horror? While I had to skip a couple of gross sections (read the content warnings!) this was a great read! #BookspinBingo

I‘ve been a bit quiet and haven‘t had a chance to read much this past week as it has been conference week. I was blessed to meet some amazing authors and will be buzzing for awhile. I‘ll share ove the next few days but here is the first one-the amazing Leanne Morgan, whose first book will release in September. She was so kind, authentic, and funny. So special to meet her!

So good! Loved on #audio as she read it and it was wonderful to hear it in her iconic voice. I loved the musical recording pieces they added into the audiobook. What an amazing creative life she has led, I am so thankful for the art that she has put into the world. She is a national treasure! #BookspinBingo Counting as two spaces since it was 48 hours long! @TheAromaofBooks ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was fast paced, twisty, and compelling but also down to earth and believable. I liked the characters-how earnest and engaging they were while still being a little complicated. I don‘t want to say much because going in blind, like I did, may be the best way to experience this mystery. This has been on my #TBR for way too long, so glad that #Roll100 moved this up! #Bookspin #Doublespin @TheAromaofBooks @PuddleJumper

This was funny, charming, and had a unique point of view that was really refreshing. The most well respected and award-winning screenwriter tries his hand a a rom-com and it is terrible. Career-ending level of awful. So they bring in an unknown writer who has a tough road to help ghost write it and make it passable. Shenanigans ensue, can these two broken people find their way, alone or together? Comes out June 11th!

This was so interesting! Full of sweet stories and surprising revelations from the White House resident staff. Covering multiple decades and presidents, I especially loved hearing about the caring relationships between the first families and staff. The author also explored the history of how the house staff system came about, race, and respect. One juicy stories too. Really fascinating, great on #audio Highly recommend!

Quietly mysterious, this exploration of the Cleveland upper class and the young adults trying to find their way was interesting, scathing, and quite sad. I didn‘t know what to expect going in but it gave nods to the House of Mirth and The Awakening and made me think just like they did. I enjoyed this, though I was a bit worried where it was headed for awhile. A married couple (20+ years) is dealing with life changes and an empty nest and decides to take solo trips for 9 months, agreeing to enjoy and experience life however it comes, including possible other relationships. I loved the settings of Portland, Sante Fe, & Patagonia, & the thoughtful way they supported each other as they reimagined their lives. So good! Releases 4/1.

This was okay, I Iiked the characters enough to keep reading but I wished there was a little more depth. There were some significant mental health elements that warranted more professional assistance (or any) and it was kind of hard to go with “love conquers all”. I do really like the cast of family and friends and will keep reading the series. #BookspinBingo #readyourkindle

Cosby does it again. This book is thrilling, upsetting, evocative, and impossible to put down while still hard to read after dark. The protagonist is a flawed lawman who is trying to serve his community in a dark and violent time. Check the content warnings, this book may have the scariest serial killer ever. And Cosby‘s writing is so tight, so perfect, that he puts you right in the moment. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ So good! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

My 2nd Groff for #authoramonth #aam This was an interesting read, all from the perspective of an escaped servant from colonial times as she is fleeing abuse and disease and struggles to survive the wilderness, injury, and being hunted. This is an adventure story that reads like a fable, a mystery and a tragedy all in one. It‘s hard to read, this is dark and depressing but the prose is quite lovely so that made it a pick for me. @Soubhiville

Soubhiville I loved this one, even though it is sad. 2mo
KadaGul @Julsmarshall I had a hard time reading this, so it ended up being DNF. It was along the lines of Fable w/ primitive undertone. What bothered me was when the author ✍️ states choking on a whore or person, not sure exactly. I moved past that but couldn't shake off the imagery or feeling, so I gave up. I am grateful to @Soubhiville for introducing Lauren Groff and organizing #AuthorAMonth 2mo
