When I saw that Crouch has a new book out soon, I had to read it. I was not disappointed! If you're a fan of Dark Matter (how could you not be), you'll enjoy this book. Crouch explores memory, time, and what it means, and costs, to get a second chance. You'll want to read this one, again and again, not only to fully grasp the science but because it's honestly that good. I was given this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for a review.

What a stunning book from first-time author, Noelle Salazar. When I turned that final page, I couldn't help wanting more. I wasn't ready to say goodbye to such well-written characters. I will absolutely recommend this book be purchased at my library and all libraries! The Flight Girls would also be a wonderful book club pick!

I was given this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for a review.

This is a quirky book with a familiar cozy mystery format. While charming, some readers may be turned off by the many Austen quotes peppering each page.

With just the right amount of red-herrings and suspense (and just a little romance thrown in), Pride, Prejudice and Poison is the perfect book to read with a cup of strong tea at home.

I was given this book by the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for a review.

I was so very disappointed by this book. After watching, and loving, the PBS series, I sought out this book. I had to force myself to finish it. Poor writing; the author's superior attitude, not only towards her patients, but also her friends and coworkers; a gratuitous sex scene that served no purpose...all worked against the book. 👎

Mdargusch Thanks for the heads up. I will just enjoy the tv show then. 2y
books_cats_art @Mdargusch take a look at it at your local library. You may enjoy it. Looking through the posts here, I seem to be in a minority. 2y

I hate giving a thumbs down on a book that could have been so freaking good! But I honestly struggled with this one. I finished it out of pure stubbornness. This book really drug; it could have been 200-300 pages shorter and still told an effective story. I found it difficult to really bond with any of the characters. I continually lost interest. I put it down for a couple weeks, thinking that I just needed a break. Finally finished. Thumbs down.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion and I'm prepared for the inevitable shunning....but I was decidedly underwhelmed by this book. I don't know if my expectations had been built too high, but I kept waiting for the awesomeness to hit, and it never did. Do I need to keep reading the other books in the series to love this?

Ok, Littens....question for you: do you consider listening to #audiobooks "reading"? I can't decide if I want to mark these as "read" here and on Goodreads. I'm conflicted as they are books, but I'm not reading them in the traditional sense. I'm learning towards not, as it just doesn't feel like reading... Thoughts?

BekahB I count them as reading, but I know quite a few people who don't. It usually takes me longer to actually listen to a book than read it. I just make sure I select the audiobook version on Goodreads and I created a separate "shelf" in Goodreads to track my audiobooks. ? 2y
zembla I totally count it! 2y
lynneamch I do count it as reading. But, I will often also get the print version from the library and alternate. I often miss pieces when listening (or fall asleep 😏), so I go back to print and catch up, then back to audio when driving. Plus, the library says it helps their circulation numbers. 👍 2y
See All 8 Comments
LectricSheep I definitely count it as reading. Especially now that I've been listening to audiobooks for a couple of years and have gotten better (I think) at following what's happening. In the beginning, my mind drifted a lot, and I'm a little fuzzy on some of those books. Then again, my memory is fuzzy on some of the books I read in hardcopy more than two years ago! 🙃 2y
christineandbooks Definitely count! 2y
Puredragonstar Count! ❤️ love Audio 2y
Smangela Definitely count. If a person can't see well, but can "read" books via audio I'd count that as reading, right? Some people are better at comprehension if they listen to audio, too. So if you're still taking the time to listen to it, I think it's reading :) 2y
books_cats_art I think I'm in the minority @BekahB @christinamcc @lynneamch @LectricSheep @christineandbooks @Puredragonstar ....hahahaha! Don't get me wrong, I love audiobooks, especially to get me in the gym, but it doesn't feel like reading. I find myself drifting with them. Books drag me into a world that I can immerse and bury myself in; audiobooks don't seem to do that for me, except Ready Player One and I suspect that was all narrator... 2y

Took a break to bring beer to Jake and our friend, Donny, who have been working on our house. They found these insulators burried in a (hideous) decorative exterior wall that we're tearing down. I'd like to find a way to use a few of these in the new house. I like having parts of the old in the new.

8little_paws Awesome!! I do that as well. When we repaired the wooden floors in my 110+ year old home, we found the twine that bound the original wood flooring together under the floor--the workers back then must have cut the bundles open and then threw the twine under the floor.
