Book Two of #BastardsBeforeBelles is done and, ugh…I love Hattie and Whit‘s story so much. Actually, it‘s Hattie I love. She has to be one of my favorite romance heroines. I‘d forgotten how much it made me cry, though. Thank God for guaranteed HEAs!

This series is so good. I adored Hattie. She‘s ready to do what it takes to control her own life. She wants the freedom to be a successful business woman. But first she has to ruin herself so her father gets over the idea of her marrying. She‘s so strong in many ways and I love how the Beast falls for her. The grumpy alpha with a sweet center is my favorite.

I've only just started reading Sarah MacLean (I also just read the first book in this series), but I'm already in love. This series is everything I needed right now, and it has offered much needed solace. I'm definitely invested in the characters and the stories and everything. Can't wait to read the next in the series and more from the author in general.

DGRachel Sarah MacLean got me back into historical romance. Her books are always fun and funny. 4y

A bath and good book today.

I‘m about nine chapters in. I have to say, romance (and reading in general) has been helping me stay sane during this time.

Loved, loved, loved this one. I was excited to read about Beast after the first book in the series and I wasn‘t disappointed. Sarah MacLean can do no wrong. The next and last one in the series has a lot to live up to and I can‘t wait to see how she redeems Ewan. #romantsy

Hattie has plans and she is not gonna let anyone get in the way. I love how determined she is to take charge of her life and prove she deserves what is hers. Whit finds himself tied up in Hattie's carriage and just can't stay away from her once he gets away. Getting to see the soft, squishy side of Whit was wonderful and his lair, perfection. I can't wait for the next book. #romantsy

I ended up treating myself to my own copy of MacLean‘s latest book instead of waiting for the library copy. I‘ve been exceeding my daily word count goal for #NaNoWriMo for several days in a row, so why not? 🤷‍♀️😂

Oh god, give me a loud, smart, funny, big heroine with a touch of self-doubt paired with a brooding man who admires her and has his own self-doubts and I will eat it up with a spoon. This was SO my jam. There‘s even a little queerness that I hope gets expanded upon. MacLean is the writer that let me really get lost in Regency romance and here she is again, proving she‘s the champ for a reason. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Sarah MacLean has leveled up! I honestly didn‘t think she had anywhere to level up to, but she‘s excavated a whole new depth in the Historical Romance genre! A perfect blend of sweet and tart, turning tropes inside out and sideways, building tension and delivering the pay offs at just the right moments, this book is Sarah MacLean‘s master class! Not to mention, hoo buddy are the sexy bits flamin hot! I‘ll be wearing the covers right off this book!

“Whit heard her. Heard her embarrassment. Her pain. Felt it like it was his own. He was going to find this baron and f*cking garrote him. He‘d bring her the man‘s undeserving head.”

Ha! I see that nod to your favorite IAD love token Sarah! This wrap up is about a week late, but there you go! And my review post of this lovely gem is in the near future. For now, I hope you enjoyed this quote as much as I did!😘

Another gem from Sarah MacLean. Physically and emotionally wounded, overprotective underground lord falls in love with a whip-smart would-be shipping mogul who is trying to convince her dad and brother to give her the chance to run the family business. Trust, revenge, and family secrets + sizzling chemistry = a great romance.

The sign of a great book! Yes, I‘m that person. I believe beloved books should look tattered and worn. I loved this book. All the feels and excellent writing. Sarah MacLean has a gift for storytelling and a talent for craft. Sigh, I don‘t know what to do with myself now that I‘ve finished Hattie and Whit‘s story. Move onto the next book, I suppose! 😀. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ‘s

What a wonderful #romantsy! Hattie is a spinster with a 5 part plan for how to create the life she wants and is a heroine who saves herself when needed. Whit is a smuggler with a lovely soft heart and a painful past. Hattie‘s goal is not just love, but an equal partnership and respect and Whit struggles with his need to protect her, it ultimately meets her there. 💕

Hattie is my favorite romance heroine ever, she‘s strong, feisty, amazing and I‘m more than a little in love with her myself. The Year of Hattie kicked off with a strong start and an even stronger finish. I was unsure of how Beast would be as a hero but I ended up loving the ending. I had a few quibbles mainly with the fact no one communicates in romance novels and life would be so much simpler if they did but the happy ending is worth reading!

Hattie is a strong character who is trying to follow a list of goals known as “The Year of Hattie” as she sets her own destiny. She crosses paths with Beast, who lives outside her world of Mayfair and that changes her destiny. I loved that they were both flawed and had insecurities, but the focus was on them being a meeting of equals. The love scenes ranked high on the steam meter.

There is nothing fearless about me. I‘m scared every day. I fear the wide world and the way it stares at me and sneers about me and whispers about me when it thinks I cannot hear. I fear a life of half measures, full of shadows of emotions and hints of possibilities and a thousand things I might have had if only I had reached a bit further.

Not my favourite from MacLean but still such a good read. It‘s feisty and feminist and works hard for its happy ending.

I will always be in love with Sarah MacLean‘s books! I absolutely loved this book! Hattie & Beast💚💚💚

I loved how strong and determined Hattie was to get what she wanted and she never backed down! I loved her friendship with Nora! I wouldn‘t mind seeing a story/book with Nora! It‘d be awesome!

I now want to go through Sarah‘s backlist even though I‘ve read all her books! I feel a romance reread coming on. Though I‘ve never done that before.

So good! Loved watching the slow burn as Beast fell for Hattie, the two characters are strong, smart, and completely unprepared for what is about to befall them. It is glorious to watch! This was a great escape for a quiet weekend while I‘m nursing a hurting back.

I would say I had a pretty successful #reversereadathon - especially since I found out about it last minute (I was already planning on reading a bunch this weekend so it worked out). I read for about 12 hours (approx) & got these books read (& only The Hating Game is a reread)

I really enjoyed this second book in MacLean‘s Bareknucked Bastards series. Hattie is the star of this book, so much sass and strength. Can work as a standalone, but best to be read after the first book of this series. #romantsy

I know exactly how that is... I was always the “buddy” growing up with the boys I liked and spent time with, but not a dating prospect.. but then I stopped seeing myself as the friend, had my own “year” and found someone who sees me as friend and girlfriend 🥰 I‘m already loving this book!!

just found out about deweys #reversereadathon earlier this evening, but luckily I I was aleady hoping to get some extra reading in this weeked so it actually works out - I've been finding that I'm always super busy when I plan them out in advance & never get as much read as I hoped so I'm really feeling this low key readathon 📚📚📚

sometimes when you place holds super early (as in months before they come out) you end up at the top of the holds list - however, I don't think I've ever picked up my holds for a book on its release day but I'm not going to complain about having it earlier than expected 😃📖📚

Sarah MacLean is an absolute #romantsy master. Hattie and Whit‘s story is fun and angsty and OMG - if I could be half as brave and awesome as Hattie, I‘d be unstoppable. I loved this book. It‘s historical romance perfection.

AlaMich I don‘t know why, but I find something unpleasant about the trend for romance covers to use photographs. It‘s jarring somehow. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 5y

It‘s officially Monday, so my total stands at 14 hours for this #24b4monday. Why did I start the new Sarah MacLean less than an hour before bedtime? I should have known I wouldn‘t want to put it down. Work tomorrow is really going to hurt. 🤦🏻‍♀️😆😭 The Bookly app says I have 4 hours 16 minutes left to go, which will give me an hour of sleep. Maybe I‘ll just finish my current chapter...
