Drums of Autumn
Drums of Autumn | Diana Gabaldon
It began in Scotland, at an ancient stone circle. There, a doorway, open to a select few, leads into the past--or the grave.Claire Randall survived the extraordinary passage, not once buy twice. Her first trip swept her into the arms of Jamie Fraser, an eighteenth-century Scot whose love for her became legend--a tale of tragic passion that ended with her return to the present to bear his child. Her second journey, two decades later, brought them together again in frontier America. But Claire had left someone behind in the twentieth century.Their daughter Brianna...Now, Brianna has made a disturbing discovery that sends her to the stone circle and a terrifying leap into the unknown. In search of her mother and the father she has never met, she is risking her own future to try to change history...and to save their lives. But as Brianna plunges into an uncharted wilderness, a heartbreaking encounter may strand her forever in the past...or root her in the place she should be, where her heart and soul belong...From the Paperback edition.

I'm re-reading the Outlander series and taking my time. I'm only in the 4th book. I'm okay with being late due the new book release. Today is the last day of harvest break and yesterday I read until the Kindle died late at night. I can't believe I woke up in time for this spectacular light show. I have all these things to do to get ready for the week, but the Kindle is recharged and Claire just got her shoes back. Clarence just got to the ridge⤵️

More Wednes op shop spoils! Planning on wearing the striped dress out on Sat night with my ballerina friend‘s for a ‘Cocktail Extravaganza‘. I got the Michelle Bridge‘s cookbook cause once upon a time my sis made an awesome chick pea curry out of 1 of her books & I‘ve been on the hunt for it ever since. Yet to peruse this 📖 to see if it is included. Our anniversary is coming up so the earrings are to wear to the Champagne & show Stew booked us.

I had to renew this #Audiobook.

21 days was not long enough for me to listen to 45 hours worth of book!

annahenke Haha these are soooo long on audio 2mo
CrowCAH @annahenke I agree! The good thing is I don‘t mind listening to it for several hours at a time while working. 2mo

I was pleasantly surprised! At first I thought the pacing was too slow. But the gripping emotional scenes needed that foundation which the first half was built. I found myself tearing up at Jamie‘s and Bree‘s scenes that enriched their relationship. Loved it!

“Now I stood with him again upon the summit of life, and could not contemplate descent”

1. I just got knocked out by those stubborn scot traits coming out in full force.
2. Ian is the best character and you can‘t tell me otherwise. him and his wolf are perfect in every way.
3. Brianna is back on her BS. I can‘t w her rn.
4. I just hope Lord John Grey finds the love of his life and happiness bc he deserves nothing less

Day off of work....in which I went on a drive to sit at the Mini dealership while the car gets serviced.

But not working means extra reading, no matter where I am!

Perfect time to start Outlander 4. I‘m committed now. My Kindle informed me that the “typical time to read” is 27 hours. Challenge accepted!

Well, I've completely gorged on these books so far but had more than one person tell me it was at this point they got bored. It transpired however, they were referring to the TV series rather than the books. Again, I find myself 200 years and continents away with our intrepid pioneers. The story lingers on even after I've read the final page - Gabaldon manages, even after best part of 1000 pages, to leave us readers hungering for more.

I enjoy this Friday night activity so much more than I ever enjoyed the whole “Night on the Town” thing! Especially when I‘m home alone. It‘s in pics where I also notice the accidental repetition of things I‘m attracted to. Lots of blue, lots of owls, lots of tea/coffee.

Outlander as a whole is love. I love this couple, they remind me so much of my husband and I. Love the show, what books I‘ve read so far, the soundtracks, and their outfits, especially here!

Thanks for the tag @hannah-leeloo

Not really got a book that reminds of Autumn so I chose one that had it on the title.

Yes I have picked out my Christmas reading and will post it soon (it's quite a few so I can't really list all of them here)

Last night I had a Pot Noodle, Crisps and a chocolate bar as I was at work at teatime.

Blackadder is my ultimate series that I go to have a laugh/feel good.

@MoonWitch94 #ThoughtfulThursday

🌞 No holiday TBR. I‘m a mood reader.

🌞 We have lots of leftover chicken, so I‘ll do something with that (probably just reheat it and serve it with a double vegetable, which my kids will hate).

🌞 When the news, or life, has me looking for some relief (which is a lot these days), I turn to Hallmark movies. Cheesy and awful, but oh so feel good. I‘m a sucker for a happy ending.

Finally finished this! Took me a while to get into, even though it picks up exactly where Voyager left off. Towards the middle, though, she moves much more quickly. I have watched the series so it‘s interesting to see how true they stay to this book for the most part.

I‘ve borrowed this book twice now and haven‘t gotten all the way through 1) because it‘s over 800 pages and 2 weeks isn‘t enough time when I‘ve got other books to read, too! 2) maybe now that the TV series is past this, I haven‘t been as interested? But I‘m going to put ANOTHER hold on it and hope that I get it back sometime during this quarantine to finish 😜🙏

Here‘s my pick for #Chunksterchallenge2020 not *quite* 1000 pages, but other than IT which I started last year and am halfway through, this is the chunkiest book on my TBR shelf. However this is a large book (by paperback standards) in tiny print. Her previous book clocked in at 1054 and is roughly 2/3‘s the size of this one so hopefully this meets the requirements. Also felt like my “soon-ish” sloth mug was appropriate for this challenge 😂

Amiable Great pick! The books in that series are definitely chunksters! 👍🏼 2y
Prairiegirl_reading Love the mug! 2y
Scochrane26 Any of the Outlander fit the requirement, esp the 5th one. I‘m thinking of joining in since I want to read the 7th one this yr. 2y
mom2bugnbee Cute mug! 2y
BookNAround I finished the 6th book in the series last year. (How weird to say a week or so ago was last year!). Might try and read the 7th this year like @Scochrane26 2y

I want to read the series, but wonder if it is worth since I have seen the show? Any opinions would be helpful! #outlander

Kimberlone I would definitely still recommend the first book...it‘s really good especially if the Jamie/Claire romance is your favorite part of the show (edited) 2y
Liatrek I would defiantly recommend reading the books. I love the series but there is just something about book Jaimie and Claire ❤️❤️ 2y
sprainedbrain I adore the books... the show does a really good job of bringing them to life but the books are so rich and detailed. If you enjoy immersing yourself in great big, sprawling books, I definitely recommend. 2y
Mariposa_Bookworm If you are worried about the size of the books, listen to them on audio. The narrator, Davina Porter, is PHENOMENAL!!!! I‘m re-reading them on audio on my commute. Amazing! 2y
Birdsong28 Yes! I watched the TV series and then got the audiobooks as I knew that it would take a while for me to physically read them. As I watched before I read them it helped me to picture certain scenes. Also the audiobooks helped me get through the longer more descriptive passages and things that I thought dragged the story and @Mariposa_Bookworm is correct as Davina Porter makes these books, I hope she is back for the last two! 📚 📖 2y
