I was leaning toward 4 out of 5 stars until the last quarter knocked it back to a 3. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is basically akin to Divergent with sex scenes. I‘m down for Part 2 so long as it‘s more about Wren‘s inner conflict of interest and less about her dues ex machina boyfriend(s) — although I doubt I‘ll get what I‘m wanting. 😆

So I have less than a hundred pages left and a major “twist” has been revealed - and it‘s something I really didn‘t want to be true bc it felt very obvious. Sigh.

That being said, I‘m excited to discuss this with others who‘ve read it once I‘m done (probably tomorrow).

On the #Romantasy scale for me, so far it‘s this > ACOTAR #1 > ACOTAR #2 >>>>>>> Fourth Wing.

A low pick for this one. The premise is pretty good and the plot line engaged me for the most part, but the romance was lackluster. The main character owned her impulsiveness, but it was still annoying. I‘ll probably read the next one when it comes out though! #botm

I told myself if I could get through 100 pages, then I‘d continue with the whole book. While it follows a familiar formula (I mean like…rote familiar, so far anyway), I appreciate this has more of a sci-fi bend than magical creatures…I hope?

ACOTAR & Fourth Wing just didn‘t work for me. Telling myself to suspend my judgey-ness and just open myself up to the #romantasy of it. Let‘s hope this one hits. 🤞🏻

This was surprisingly very good. I don‘t know why I was so hesitant to pick it up. I enjoyed the story, the characters and the drama. I read it in 2 days!

DNF at 20% The dialog is very cringy and the main character is…ugh. This was a #botm off my TBR and yay a #bookspinbingo! #hailthebail

I give all books 100 pages before I decide if it‘s for me. I also feel like I form some sort of Stockholm syndrome to each book as I refuse to quit. I‘m glad I hung onto this one as it turned out to be one of my favorites in a while! Can‘t wait for the next.

At 25% I‘m not seeing any redeeming attributes. I‘m not morally opposed to spicy dystopian but The FMC is a bore, I don‘t know who the love interest is supposed to be because she thinks everyone is hot, she has no common sense, the dialog is terrible, the setting is info dumped, half the time I think things don‘t make sense & THE NAMES -so terrible. moving pretty slow for something compared to Fourth Wing and The Hunger Games.

This book was amazing. I found the idea of augmented veins fascinating (as well as the powers that come with it) and the espionage associated with the MC force-joining the team for training, and the development of the main couple (no spoilers). I am excited to see where this goes, with the cliffhanger at the end. #romance #bookofthemonth #fantasy 💙

3.5 ⭐️ rounded up. Action-packed and entertaining, but heavier on the formula than the emotional ride. I understand the hype and will probably borrow the next book in the series on Libby, but I wasn‘t gripped in the same meaningful way I was in the empyrean series 🐉

I enjoyed the uncomplicated setup for this dystopian world, but Wren constantly lusting over Cross was way too distracting to the buildup of this world. I stopped midway to read a bit about the series and the author specifically wanted to spice up a dystopian story. Well, I‘d have been fired as an editor 🤣. I‘m struggling between a pick and so-so. I‘ll go slow pick since I‘ll likely try Book2.

My #BOTM box came while I was on vacation over the weekend! I‘m so excited to get into this because of all the hype around it! This was an add-on book for me and my main book choice was “The Names” because I really love a good dystopian story. Kind of bummed I couldn‘t get the cover straight on without missing out on the edges of this beauty!

Given the premise I expected something a bit silly, but it‘s actually a pretty serious book—and a good one at that! I loved the ethical questions raised throughout, and the ending twist was super neat. It‘s also a lil‘ spicy, but not gratuitously so, which is nice to see in a current new adult release.

Finally received my May #botm books!

They gave me a free credit for the delay, so that was nice of them. The sprayed edges are pretty cool. Now to find time to read them.

So not only did #botm make me pay $3 for a special edition. I now have to wait all month to get my books…

I‘m not sure I would have actually gotten to them in May, but I‘m now worried they‘ll get delivered while I‘m away on vacation…
