A solid 70's horror! I found it a little slow at the beginning, but not too painful. The creepy atmosphere slowly builds up. It doesn't rely on blood and gore, instead it uses the unseen and pulls on the reader's imagination.
The further I got into the book, the harder it was to put it down.

A haunting read! I sat up all night finishing this book. Once I got to the last third I couldn't put it down.
The book is large and slow going in places. I stopped reading it a couple of times to read other books, but I couldn't get it out of my head so I went back to it. Living through the pandemic, I have to say, he was spot on with many things when he wrote this in 1978.

This was a good book, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I've just started reading Stephen King, and this was a nice introduction into his world of horror.

I wasn't fond of Guy (the main character) at first, but he grew on me as I got to know him better. This book has lots of twists and creepiness. The further I got into it, the harder it was to put it down. It did get a little redundant for a bit, but the creepiness made up for it.

I think I'm among the minority, but I thought it was just ok. It had too many slow parts and fillers for such a short book. It probably would have worked better with parts removed, and included in a book of short stories instead.

I didn't like Susan; I thought her life choices were childish and selfish. I was also disappointed in the ending.

I was enjoying this book, but then it began to grow tiresome so I put it down. I love the concept, but after a while it seemed to drag on. Maybe it should have been The 5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. lol

Over the course of a couple of weeks it kept entering my thoughts, so I picked it back up and continued on. I'm happy I decided to carry on. I did enjoy it, but I guess I just needed a break for everything to soak in; there's a lot going on.

I found the beginning slow, but there was enough going on that I wanted to give it more of a chance so I kept going. Almost half way in, it really picks up, but I found the ending lacking. I can't say I hated it, but I didn't enjoy it enough to read book number two in the series.

I'm up to chapter six, and just now deciding not to give up on this book. I wasn't liking it at first. We'll see, it looks like it's getting better so I'll keep going.

This was a fun read! I kept changing my mind on who did it, then changing my mind back again. I love Izzy and Flo, and although Rushmore didn't have much involvement in this story, he had enough for me to want more. Maybe in future books, Rushmore will have more of a role. I think he would be a fun addition.

I'm selective about my vampire reading because I don't like the new stuff that's popular today, so I was thrilled to find this series. Blood Oath and The President's Vampire were very good, but Christopher Farnsworth really outdid himself with Red, White, and Blood. The first thing out of my mouth when I read the ending was, WHAT?! and I proceeded to scan the internet for signs when book number four will be released.

I enjoyed this book, but not near as much as the first four books in the series. It just didn't engage me like the other books did. I had the 'been there done that' feeling. The beginning was good, but somewhere along the line it lost my interest so much that I put it down for about three weeks.
When I finally finished it I enjoyed the ending, but it was a long road getting there.

Dracula's Guest was referenced in the author's notes, in Dracul, so I thought I would check it out. It was removed from the original novel (Dracula) by the editor. It's a creepy little story. I did enjoy it, but I think it would have done better in its original place in Dracula, rather than as a stand alone story.

I read Dracula the Undead (which I loved), also written by dacre stoker, so I was expecting Dracul to be very good. I wasn't disappointed. This darkly atmospheric Gothic horror was a joy to read.
If you read this book, be sure to read the author's notes at the end. I found them fascinating.
