After playing a few games with Husband and Niblings I retreated to a quiet table and finished reading Jane and the Year Without a Summer.

Evening knowing what's coming. 😭 #janeandtheexcellentreadalong

(While I enjoy Pinball they LOVE Pinball.)

#Pemberlittens While I have Advanced Readers Copy of Jane and the Final Mystery, I'm not rushing through the Penultimate book in the series.

Jane and the Year Without a Summer starts off a bit quieter. Which is fitting because Jane is having health problems. It's lovely seeing Jane and Cassandra having adventure of their own.

Discussion Post up September 30th.🎩 📖📚

Hard to believe this is so close to the end of the series. I have enjoyed following Jane‘s adventures and Barron‘s weaving of tales around Jane‘s real life events. The end of this one brought some tears and I‘m kind of dreading the release of the last book in October. 4.5🌟

#JaneAndTheExcellentReadalong discussion post.
1️⃣ The ending! Jane saves the day!

2️⃣ Jane, always Jane.

3️⃣ "Think, clodpole!” (I really want to use that line sometime.)

“To meddlesome women,”

"I refuse to disrupt so completely the tenuous peace of my life. I am done with longing for a gentleman to save me."

4️⃣ Visit Carlton House with JSC. I love looking at houses. And prattling people are easier for me to ignore than angry ones.⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig 5️⃣ I've come to love Mansfield Park now that I'm no longer, as Jane would say, 'a green girl of sixteen.' Fanny Price has a quiet strength of character that I admire. She deserves better than Edmund but the heart wants what the heart wants.

6️⃣ History of Waterloo. That England's economy suffered with the end of the war. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig 7️⃣ This is my 3rd time reading. I've always wondered how Stephanie Barron will end this series. She does her research and is brilliant at weaving mysteries around Jane's real life. Jane is about to turn 40. #Pemberlittens know her story ends at age 41. I plan to have a hanky ready when I read Jane and the Final Mystery.

But first Jane and Cassandra's trip to Cheltenham Spa in Jane and the Year Without a Summer. 📖🎩 👒

#Pemberlittens It's time for #JaneAndTheExcellentReadalong discussion!

*Spoilers in comments.

Crinoline_Laphroaig 1️⃣ & 2️⃣ - Combining these. Jemima and her outfits. I just love them! Mrs Austen was really fun in this one. Her calling James a spoilsport and a prig. And “Do not be waspish, Mary,” my mother suggested serenely. “It cannot recommend you to your friends, and must provide fodder for your enemies.”

Also James splashing Mary in the face with wine when she fake swooned.

Crinoline_Laphroaig 3️⃣ “The Aunts are faeries,” Caroline retorted snubbingly. Being an Auntie I love this line.

4️⃣ I'll take quiet with a book over charades and cranky people.

5️⃣ I couldn't be Candor I would be afraid of hurting feelings. But I could do an over the top Duchess Highinstep.

6️⃣ I'm fascinating by the Twelve Days of Christmas Celebrations.

Crinoline_Laphroaig 7️⃣ Imagining I was enjoying the gaities of Christmas with Jane was fun. Especially since it's been over 100F/37C most of the time.

In August we're off to London with Jane and The Waterloo Map. As we continue counting down to the Release of Jane and the Final Mystery. 🎩📖📚
