panI might be in the minority here, but I didn't like this book. It had a perfect setting and a bunch of Austen fans, so it started out promising, but I found the plot slow, boring and somewhat predictable. In spite of the amount of trauma the characters had to deal with, I couldn't feel for them at all, while the secondary characters felt like caricatures. The Austen talk was mildly interesting in the first few chapters, ... ⬇️

pickThe vignette style of the first few chapters makes them feel a little disjointed at first, but I LOVE how this little motley crew comes together through their love of Austen. #historicalfiction
pickI found this to be a charming read. Not sure why I put it down when I first started it last year but there you have it. Guess I had to be in the mood for this. Set mostly following WWII, this book follows a handful of people from a small English village (and an American actress) as they bond over Jane Austen & her works‘ influence.
Overall, I did enjoy this book, but it took me until just under halfway through to be invested in it. After I understood the characters & how they were all connected, I read the second half in just a few days.
Recommend for Austen or historical fiction fans.
pickThis was delightful, and a perfect beach read! Probably one of my favorite Austen related novels that isn‘t a retelling. I especially loved how themes from Austen‘s books are woven throughout the story. Perfect for fans of Austen.

so-soYay, me! I met my reading goal of 10 books a month early this year!
The Austen Society wasn‘t my favorite, but much better than the Book Club. Still, for a novel about the magic of Austens novels this lacked all spark. The characters mirroring our beloved hero/ines were likeable and the author does prove a good understanding of Our Lady Janes works, but it just aint keeping up with the original. This would be a nice beach read.

pickI have to admit that I had serious misgivings about this book, and was getting a little annoyed with some of the characters, but after the story began to center around the society, the book grabbed me and I couldn‘t put it down. I grew to care about all of the people in this little village. Things turn out well, but not in any of the ways I expected. A very satisfying read, especially if you‘re a Jane Austen fan. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

pickJust starting this today and is the second of three books in my mini Jane Austen reading project.
pickDelightful! Sweet but has a fair bit sadness too as much of the story takes place at the close of WWII. With a smidge of romance, intrigue, and Jane Austen thrown in, how could you go wrong? Jenner managed to give ample and meaningful nods to Austen while creating unique, singular characters that shine. Excited to read more from this author, what a great debut novel!
