#NFNovember was really #NFFall for me...ending with Nellie Bly's ground breaking undercover assignment at Blackwell's Island Asylum in 1887.
Of all the disturbing neglect and abuse suffered by those women there, it was perhaps most disturbing how easily one could be deemed crazy, even when sane. For Nellie, a refusal to sleep for 1 night at a boarding house for working women, a (fake) loss of memory, and enlarged pupils was about all it took!⭐⭐⭐

Wow! What a great resource for knitters that are garment knitters. Discussing how to knit sweaters etc that actually fit. The author actually gives great photos of it all. I‘m not that advanced in knitting and much was lost on me. If you are in this league of knitter, this is a great resource. #nfNovember ( forgot to push post last night) 🤪

Godmotherx5 Knitting a sweater is on my bucket list. Good book suggestion. #audioknitting 1w
Scochrane26 My friend is an amazing knitter. I‘m not sure if she has this book, but I‘ll tell her about it. 1w

Not going to finish this tonight, but I still wanted to make a post for #NFNovember. If you follow politics at all, I definitely recommend this book. Even though I was aware of the big picture as events unfolded, this is a really great analysis of the Republican shift from the back room perspective. Equal parts entertaining, informative, and engrossing.

I recommend this book to all who want to know more about Patty Hearst. Again, the justice system shows us two tiered justice. One for the poor. One for the rich. #NFNovember

ljuliel Sad, this stuff happens every day . Money talks. 1w

Very much enjoying this audiobook. I remember the whole Patty Hearst kidnapping, but this is the definitive history. #NFNovember

Zelma I really liked this one. I read Jonestown right before or after, and it was an interesting experience. There is a reference to Patti Hearst in Jonestown that placed everything in historical context for me. 2w
Samplergal And there is a reference to Jim Jones wanting his congregation to do the food drive as the SLA had ordered the elder Hearst to do! 1w

• Recently started with #SerialReader app. I'm hopeful that I can learn something new about the perspectives and perseverance of African Americans throughout history. It's not MY story, but it IS my duty as a person and citizen to immerse myself in the experiences and hardships of others from time to time. They have LIVED it; the very least I can do is READ about it •

#NFNovember that will continue into December

I wouldn‘t have heard of this Victorian true crime book if not for Littens! I don‘t even care who killed the rotten victim at this point but whoever it was REALLY wanted him to suffer. Yeeps! #truecrime #NFNovember #NFNov

Currently listening to this one. Requested it in September and my hold just came in. Highly recommend the audio. It is amazing and wrenching and really, really hard to listen to. But after 18 years I‘m ready to hear the stories from the people inside the planes, inside the buildings, and otherwise on the scene.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa 18 years....😢. Still difficult to read, and yet there is a whole generation for which this is “before their time” and they‘ve never know a world when we were not at war over the events of that day. 😔 2w

Texreader Oh my. Not sure I‘m ready yet. 😭 I just can‘t forget the gut-wrenching horror watching it happen and knowing what was happening to the people. (edited) 2w
GingerAntics I‘m with @Texreader. I‘m not sure I‘m ready yet. I agree we need to make sure this stays current for this generation that has never known what it is like to not be at war. We need to make sure we all never forget. I just don‘t think I‘m ready. I can still remember that day so clearly. I suppose it‘s like my Uncle on the day JFK was shot. 2w
Crazeedi I'm currently reading this, but I bet the audiobook would be riveting 2w
Crazeedi And everyone should read this for sure! @GingerAntics @Texreader read when you feel prepared, but I highly recommend!! 2w
