I especially loved how this made me care about Caroline's grandmother and her sister. How this made me think about older family members and their lives. The beginning was touching for that reason.

It's not a surprise that this was a cozy book to read (being tagged as a cozy mystery and all...) and I had fun time with this one.

This wasn't the most believable story, however I am fine with that when I am reading books from this genre.

I still think characters were awesome & loved to spend more time with them and in this world. However this wasn't as good as the first one: plot was a bit all over the place, scattered, and not as enjoyable as in the first book. Atmosphere didn't have the same tension than book 1. I was also disappointed how I could see two biggest twists coming.

I just had so high expectations and this didn't deliver. This was good but got me still disappointed.

Characters were flat and I couldn't really relate to them. Romance was poorly developed and came from nowhere.

The beginning was just boring, I wasn't afraid/scared. I just needed something more concrete to feel something. I enjoyed this more when some things were revealed.

This also felt like badly edited, I found several illogical scenes/things.

I think this was okay but I have heard so much good of this author and expected more

This book was amazing: I really loved characters that were interesting and well developed. I loved chemistry between some of the characters and even secondary characters felt vivid.

This was really thrilling book to read: when one problem/thing got solved there was already the second one coming and I wanted to see how that was going to be solved.

Reading this book was pure joy.

Characters felt really realistic and while reading about main characters' lives it was easy to remember what it was like to be a teenager.

I had fun with this book, even though at some point there was a sudden change and characters stopped communicating and everything felt different. I am not a big fan of not communicating but this was still enjoyable read.

I really liked Sophia who was delightfully strong and determined. Romance wasn't really well developed but it was okay - could have been without it too. I also really liked some minor characters and some banter made me even laugh.

This was easy to read, even though the story was pretty dark. Things went forward in even pace and reading was enjoyable.

I read a Finnish fantasy, which was a BOTM in one group where we read fantasy & sci-fi. I had this book already in my TBR so this was a perfect excuse to read it.

This book made me even laugh, even though I thought this would be even more hilarious. Nevertheless this was fun to read.

I have the second book in my TBR and I am definitely going to read it too.

Characters felt pretty realistic and likable, but there were several under developed ones too.

This was really atmospheric - also relatable especially when I was shoveling snow during the days I was reading this book. And it isn't that many days ago when several of my friends were without electricity for 49 hours for the storm.

I would have preferred there being more horror elements. This wasn't thrilling to read but I still enjoyed the story.

AnnCrystal 49 hours! Yikes, hopefully that's the worst of it for your friends during this powerful winter 🥺💝💝💝. 1w

Beartown: A Novel | Fredrik Backman
Mehso-so

Characters were well created and felt really realistic.

The beginning made me so curious to see how this is going to end but oh boy how long it took to get there!

This felt a bit too overdramatic to my liking - well how believable it is that several people drive near forest and shout there?

I had super high expectations. I am curious to see what happens to these people next but I expected so much more.

CSeydel I was underwhelmed by this one too! I‘ve really enjoyed several of his other books, but this one seemed less original. 4w
TieDyeDude I couldn't even get to the good stuff. I bailed pretty early on this. 4w

I soon noticed how lonely Icarus was and felt for him. It was really nice to follow his life and how he finally got friends.

This was a good coming-of-age story with romance, for those who want to read one.

Chapters were super short...

I appreciated this book's message, this book made me ponder some important aspects of life.

I really liked the book, but it was slightly too melodramatic to my liking.

I really liked Tella and found Dante & Jacks super intriguing. And I am happy how there still is more to come.

But what I loved even more was the atmosphere! This felt so magical to read, and I loved the feeling.

This wasn't 100 % satisfying but I guess all these secrets are going to be revealed in the next book.

Wow, Alex was unbelievable unlikable character but that was a purpose. Reading this felt so disturbing.

I enjoyed the writing and it made me laugh several times. I loved all those slang words that were used, some of them were super clever!

The story itself was pretty simple but I was curious to see how everything was going to end.

Characters were great, really fleshed out.

I enjoyed the atmosphere, it was pretty mysterious. The pacing was a bit off.

The last part of the book was a bit much and at the same time “the big revelation“ was pretty lame. I have to say I expected so much more after all those pages.

I think this was plotwise better than the prequel and it was easier to enjoy the atmosphere.

Characters were interesting, I liked Sjöberg & Petra. I loved how fleshed out characters were and how there were more than just crime investigations in this book.

This made me thought about evilness and how evil indifference can be.

There was one good twist at the end and some things about characters' personal lives were left open so there is definitely more to explore. I loved the ending, it was a good one.

I really liked the writing and main character's “voice“. She was relatable and I really rooted for her. In the last part of the book I started to forget who was who because there were so many new characters and didn't know much of them.

Atmosphere was awesome and so well created - I even had nightmares while reading this.

As a story this was pretty simple but intriguing enough. This really was worth reading.

Mona was a likable character - it's easy to root for a character who has to suddenly act heroic without feeling herself like a hero. I really loved secondary characters, there were so many lovely ones!

This was hilarious, even though for some reason the last part wasn't as intriguing as the beginning. Somehow it slightly dragged and didn't offer that much.

I loved characters, I felt for Amelia who was so alone in the world and forgot who she really was. Noah was lovely & grumpy with a golden heart.

This was super cozy book and I adored the setting - even though it didn't feel 100 % believable. I mean small towns have their darker sides too.

This was an easy going story, super predictable but still enjoyable. Maybe some things were solved a bit too suddenly/easily.

I really adored Sage, P and Oren! Several secondary characters were interesting but could have been more fleshed out.

The beginning was super good and I was intrigued. But this didn't work really well as a mystery book, maybe it was a bit too ambitious trying to combine so many genres in one novel. As a fantasy book this worked better, I really loved the world and this felt refreshing to read.

Sciona was an intriguing character, far from perfect but so awesome for that reason. I also loved Thomil. I would have preferred bad guys being also more morally grey - they were just bad and that's it.

This was really enjoyable book, even though sad and devastating.

Characters, especially secondary ones, were likable. I still didn't root for Diana & Matthew as a couple, I just don't like insta-love in stories. I also didn't like alpha male thing here.

I loved the atmosphere, even though with all these mysteries it could have been more thrilling and the writing was too detailed to my liking.

The whole book was a start for the series but this had a little to offer as an independent book.

Characters were realistic and nicely fleshed out. I really could relate to Ronny who had to deal with deep sorrow.

This book was more about drama than horror and that way not what I expected from this book. The drama was good but I didn't like mixing that with horror elements. As a horror story this wasn't that great because drama took so much space.

I think this was worth reading but not great if you're craving a good horror story.

Diem was sometimes too immature for my liking. I really loved Diem's brother and their relationship, it felt realistic.

I loved the surroundings and how magical the world felt. The town where Diem lived felt cozy. I would have appreciated to have more answers because things didn't feel to go forward during this book.

There were several unbelievable scenes.

For me this was entertaining enough, but quite mediocre book in this genre.

This book was brutal, even hard to read for all the cruelty. I think atmosphere was well created but not pleasant.

This was a real slasher, atmosphere was awesome and I adored the setting too. This had so much action that at some point I started to hope some slower moment where characters could make plans.

I appreciate how hard it was to guess how everything was going to end but the reason is obvious after reading the author's note.

This was a fun read!
