I‘m ready to call it ~ My top #19In2019 @BarbaraBB @KarenUK
I read a nice mix of fiction and NF but overall it‘s the NF that I found MOST enjoyable and memorable 💞📚🤓
What were your favorites this year??? Share your #19In2019

Cinfhen I made the 2 Kent Haruf books count as one 😉 (edited) 4y
TrishB Great selection 👍🏻 read 4.5 (Evicted is hibernating) and have 3 on my kindle! 4y
Lizpixie Ive just done my top ten NF & top ten fiction of 2019, so technically I‘ve done #Top20of2019 Whoops🤭 4y

Kalalalatja Great picks! 4y
BarbaraBB Great choices! And I am happy I have two on my shelves. Looking forward to them with this recommendation 💕 4y
KarenUK Great list! Took a screenshot so I can pick up some of the Non Fic up for Paul, now he‘s reading more. I have a few of these on my #2020TBR too 😊💕 (edited) 4y
Kaila-ann I have this one on my shelf and really looking forward to it 4y
Cinfhen Five Days was EXCELLENT @Kaila-ann Honestly I loved all of my NF picks / they were easily 4 & 5 star reads @KarenUK 4y
thebluestocking Love this list! We read (and loved) a lot of the same books this year, so I‘m adding the ones I haven‘t read to the TBR. 💙 4y
britt_brooke Three of ours are the same! 💚 4y
Cinfhen Thanks @thebluestocking I do think we have similar taste!!! Let me know your thoughts if you read any of these titles in 2020 4y

I've read September and Winter Solstice but didn't realize Rosamunde Pilcher has a book for every season. New @audible covers are gorgeous. 2020's TBR??? Do you have a favorite? 📚

A little hard to read, but this is the list so far as I remember of books I've been gifted or won (and some arcs that went to the wayside) that I'm planning on reading throughout 2020 with a goal of getting books off my shelves as I have SO many unread ones. I'm still trying to figure what prompts these might fit under with the 2 challenges I'm going to attempt.

The Dovekeepers: A Novel | Alice Hoffman

#toptenofthedecade #fictionedition
I think they were all published in the last decade!
I found this really hard (as we all did!)
Honorable mentions to Assassins Fate - Robin Hobb, end of an era and sobbed through the last quarter. Fitz will always have my heart ❤️
And for poetry Rapture by Carol Ann Duffy is amazing.

KarenUK We match 3, I also LOVED the Book thief, and have Little life, Great Believers and Bone Clocks on my #2020TBR !😊👍💕 (edited) 4y
Cathythoughts Great picks 👍🏻. Bone Clocks will be one of mine too !! And Station Eleven. I need to go back to Great Believers as I have it in #hibernation 4y
Cinfhen This list is FABULOUS 🙌🏻I adored SO MANY of these titles ~ Great Believers is the one book I somehow missed out on - will have to correct that 💖📚🎉 4y
See All 22 Comments
Cinfhen And you know I LOVED 4y
squirrelbrain Same here @KarenUK - I matched 3 too... I didn‘t include Tin Man on my list, but it was very borderline. I have The Book Thief on my TBR for #readingeurope2020. 4y
Cinfhen There‘s a few books I forgot 😬😬😢 4y
Scochrane26 My friend told me I need to read The Dovekeepers, so it‘s on my tbr. 4y
Kalalalatja I was so close to putting some Hobb books on my list! 4y
ljuliel Ordinary Grace was beautiful. 4y
TrishB @KarenUK you have some good ones waiting for you 👍🏻 4y
TrishB @Cathythoughts I know some people found Great Believers a bit slow, may be wrong time for you. 4y
TrishB @Cinfhen I missed so many out 😕 it‘s really hard! 4y
TrishB @squirrelbrain I think you‘ll like it 👍🏻 4y
TrishB @Scochrane26 one of my all time faves 👍🏻 4y
TrishB @Kalalalatja they are so personal aren‘t they! 4y
TrishB @ljuliel it definitely was ❤️ 4y
Rissreads Station 11 and A little life are both on my list! 🧡 4y
TrishB @Rissreads they are definitely firm Litsy favourites! 4y
BarbaraBB Super great list 😍😍 4y
JennyM Fab list! 4y
TrishB @BarbaraBB @JennyM it‘s so hard isn‘t it! 4y
Suet624 I read 7 of these. Such wonderful memories of having read them. 4y

#Top10OfTheDecade #FictionEdition

A sleepless night allright, here are my favorite 10 of the last decade. Or 12 🤫😂. Not all are published within this decade but I did read them between 2010 and now!

Cinfhen Oh WOW!!! Here I Am made your list!!! I‘m excited to read some of these especially the one that you gifted me. You‘ve actually gifted me a few from this list but I didn‘t love them as much as you did 😬😉😘Thanks for sharing, I feel like my reading card for 2020 is already FULL just from all these lists!!! 4y
BarbaraBB I remember that you didn‘t like Tin Man and Cassandra as much as I did. Did I send you more books mentioned above? In that case I hope you DO like them as much 😉😘 4y
TrishB Great picks 👍🏻 (edited) 4y
See All 31 Comments
Kalalalatja I see a few I plan on having on my list! I‘m working on it in between sessions today 😅 4y
Cathythoughts Nice picks. I loved The History Of the Rain too 4y
BarbaraBB @Cathythoughts I am happy to hear that. I always feel there are not many of us! 4y
BarbaraBB @Kalalalatja looking forward to it!! 4y
Hooked_on_books Totally agree with Home Fire. Phenomenal book. 4y
rockpools GWG almost made mine, but it‘s too soon - I feel I need to sit with it for a few months! Stacking the History of Rain, and despairing that I STILL haven‘t read Home Fire. 4y
Butterfinger I just want to cry every time I see Stoner's cover. 4y
britt_brooke Nice picks! I love Jonathan Safran Foer! I‘m reading his new nonfiction now. 4y
DGRachel Home Fire is on my TBR for January. I loved Stoner. It was a postal book club selection that I fully expected to hate, but absolutely fell in love with it! 4y
AmyG I need to post my list. Hooray for The Heart‘s Invisible Furies and Stoner. 4y
Megabooks Definitely took a screenshot for further perusal! 4y
fleeting Several in my tbr; glad to see them here! 4y
batsy Lovely selection! Sleepless night thinking, I hear you 😂 4y
merelybookish Oh, I totally forgot about Lucy Barton! But loved that one too! And Cassandra would make a list of favourite books published before 2010! 4y
merelybookish Also the Luminaries. 🙈 So many good books! 4y
KarenUK History of Rain, and Stoner have been unread on my shelves for too long.... knowing what book twins we are, they are #2020TBR for sure now! 💕😂 4y
BarbaraBB @KarenUK Lol I am 💯 sure that you‘ll love Stoner. I‘m not sure about History if the Rain 👯‍♀️ 4y
arubabookwoman I have Tin Man set to read in Jan. for LMPC, so I'm glad it's good, and I also have Go, Went, Gone, The Luminaries, & The Birds (loved The Ice Palace) on the TBR shelf. I also liked, Here I Am, Home Fire, & Cassandra. I was a rare reader not blown away by Stoner, maybe because I was expecting so much. (edited) 4y
arubabookwoman I don't think I'm going to be able to do a Top 10 for fiction. Until this year, I didn't read much contemporary fiction, usually only reading books that had been around several years and even longer. I would need to list at least 30 favorites, 10 contemporary, 10 classics, & 10 that have been around awhile but are not yet classics. 4y
BarbaraBB @arubabookwoman You can list 30! I‘d love to see your choices 😀. 4y
youneverarrived Some great ones here! And a few I really want to read. 4y
Liz_M @arubabookwoman Do it! I've listed the eight books I read this decade that blew my mind (all classics) and am thinking about a top ten published in this decade. 😆 4y
Liz_M I enjoyed Ice Palace more than The Birds and feel like I missed something in GWG -- I should have loved it, but was left a little cold. Maybe read it at the wrong time? Definitely intrigued by Home Fire (Antigone!) 4y
CarolynM See, Lucy Barton is one of the books I forgot yesterday (and Anything is Possible). I think I would have included Cassandra if I hadn't limited myself by publication dates. I have a copy of Here I Am, I need to move it up my mental priority list. 4y
samizdat have you read jenny erpenbeck‘s Visitation? it‘s wonderful! 4y
BarbaraBB @Liz_M I am looking forward to your 10 of the decade! I loved Ice Palace too but was blown away by The Birds. GWG broke my heart, maybe because I read it when the refugee crisis was at its height. And Home Fire/Antigone, yes 💔 4y
BarbaraBB @sthenia No but I will definitely look it up, thanks! 4y
Graywacke Great list...taking some notes. Loved Here I Am 4y

I have a feeling the tagged book is going to be VERY popular @Cinfhen ! Most of these were read this year but here is my #top10ofthedecade #nonfictionedition.

Chosen because of impact on me, highlightablity and whether I've gone out to buy more by the author.

KarenUK The Salt path is on my #2020TBR , gifted to me by the lovely Cindy 💕 4y
TiredLibrarian I want to read this; have heard many good things about it. 4y
Cinfhen Oh wow!!! I‘ve only read 3 🙈once again, my #TBR is exploding 😂😂😂 4y

jenniferw88 @Cinfhen if you'd said to me 3 years ago at the end of the decade you'll be listing a sports biography on your favourites list, I'd have been amazed! #blameitonlitsy 4y
Cinfhen So true!! Litsy has been amazing for expanding my reading too!!!!! 4y
Mdargusch I have yet to read Bad Blood but now I‘m inspired since it‘s on so many lists! 4y
mabell The Boys in the Boat is such an amazing story ❤️ Definitely not something I would have read - or thought I would love - either! 4y
ljuliel Jennifer. Can you tell me the title of the book on the top left ? I can‘t see it close up enough to tell what it is. Thank you. 4y
ljuliel Thank you ! I‘m working on a list of all the books to share if anyone wants it. There‘s a couple titles I can‘t see well. 🙂 4y

Most, if not all, of these are from the last year or two rather than the whole decade, but it‘s so difficult to choose!

There‘s a couple of others just bothering the edges of the top 10 and I have ‘H is for Hawk‘ and ‘Henrietta Lack‘ on my TBR shelf, which both appear to be favourites of many people.

#nonfictionedition

TrishB I‘ve read 2 of hours 😁 not a big NF reader! 4y
Cinfhen Another screenshot for me! With all the nonfiction I read, I‘ve STILL managed to miss SO MANY 😳😱 4y
Cinfhen I‘ve read 5 and 2 are already on my #TBR 4y
See All 14 Comments
squirrelbrain @TrishB - I didn‘t used to read a lot of NF - #blameitonlitsy 😁 4y
squirrelbrain Which ones haven‘t you read @cinfhen? This one is definitely one of my favourites this year.... 4y
Cinfhen I haven‘t read the book you just tagged 👆🏽, Ghettoside, Dreyer‘s English, The period book and 4y
Cinfhen Ghettoside and Dryer‘s are both on my #ReadersRadar and so is Indianapolis 🤓 4y
squirrelbrain They‘re all fab @cinfhen. Of course they are, or they wouldn‘t be on my list! I‘ve only read a few of other people‘s lists - TBR is growing (again!)... 4y
DGRachel Indianapolis is so good. I‘m not a huge nonfiction reader, but I loved that one so much! 💖 4y
TrishB I actually put Period on my Christmas list! 4y
KarenUK Dryers English is on my #2020tbr ... it sounds awesome.... 💕 4y
Amiable “Bad Blood“ is on my short list for 2020. 4y
squirrelbrain It‘s very good @RachelO! 4y

#Movember @Cinfhen #borderline
No borders, just a Line! One from my #2020TBR today, I‘ve been meaning to read this 2004 Man Booker winner for ages! I read The Sparsholt Affair this year, and really loved his writing, so hoping for a great read.... 💕

Cinfhen I think @TrishB mentioned wanting to read this book too!! I was meh about 4y
TrishB @Cinfhen I‘ve put this book into hibernation as there was just too much 1980s Tory politics that just resonated too much with today. 4y
Cinfhen Ahhhh, not for me then @TrishB my knowledge of British politics is rubbish 😉 4y
See All 6 Comments
TrishB @Cinfhen at the moment I wish mine was! 😘 4y
BarbaraBB I loved this book, despite the politics. Maybe because it didn‘t resonate when I read it - year‘s ago. 4y
KarenUK Uh! Not sure I can do the politics right now either! But I love his writing so maybe I‘ll brace it! @trishb @barbarabb @cinfhen 4y

I love @4thhouseontheleft ‘s idea of making a list of all the books you wish you‘d got to in 2019 from your TBR mountain, and creating a #2020TBR ......
I‘ve created a bookshelf on goodreads with 52 books (one a week) as an optimistic TBR for next year 🤞😊💕📚Lets see how that goes! 😂

alisiakae Love it!! 4y
JennyM SOooo much goodness there!!! Hope you‘re doing ok my lovely. Been thinking of you 😘😘 (edited) 4y
BarbaraBB So many good ones here! But what about the books you‘re going to buy/borrow in 2020 😉😘? 4y
See All 8 Comments
CarolynM Some great titles there! I loved 4y
KarenUK @barbarabb That‘s why it‘s only 52! I read about 100 books a year, so I‘m allowing for about the same number for books that I shouldn‘t be buying when I have so much else to read!!!! 😂📚📚 4y
KarenUK @CarolynM it‘s been on my #TBR forever!!! 4y
KarenUK @jennyM thank you sweet friend 💕😘 4y
BarbaraBB That IS smart! I have yo think about that too! 4y
