Next up for book club 🤓
I listened to the audiobook of this via my library's app - It was an interesting listen with a full cast.

Great suspense. Didn‘t connect with any characters extremely well but was definitely kept on edge the whole time. It was a surprise ending. Wanted more on how everyone turned out in the end
This is a pretty solid mystery, but it was just okay for me. I admit that the identity of the killer took me by surprise, but I did figure out the identity of the victim (also a mystery in the book). If you‘re a fan of the “group of people trapped in an isolated location” trope, you might want to check it out!
This book was a fun book to read with a cup of tea and nothing else to do. Definitely not a ‘thinker‘ of a book, but a little joy ride of a murder mystery.
Not. A. Fan. Despite the short chapter breaks this one was a slog and a half. It got to the point I didn‘t care who was being murdered let alone which “guest” was doing the killing. Not what you want from a suspense thriller. #readingchallenge2022
Compared to my last read, I thought this was worlds better. Multiple first person POVs and jumps in time to before and after the suspicious murder. I don‘t always like first person, but I felt like I knew the characters much more thoroughly in this book. The plot itself was pretty good, with some good red herrings.
This week has been super busy, but I‘ve been sporadically reading this and liking it! I also got The Paris Apartment by the same author and am eager to read that one, too.
This was too slowly paced for a thriller. It just went on and on and I didn't care. I got half way through then gave up and flicked to the end to see how it ended
Unbelievably boring
No matter what the books says I am imagining the Lodge as The Goes Wrong Show "The Lodge" complete with deer head screaming "Get out!"
I had already posted a review/pic of this but I took this picture today on this beautiful day at the beach and liked it better lol
I liked this but for all the build up it was a bit anticlimactic. I loved all the red herrings (even if it was obvious they were such) and the writing helped make up for the thin plot. 🤷🏻♀️
This book was okay. I felt it was very slow-medium paced though for a thriller/mystery novel. I also didn‘t care much for the characters. The ending surprised me though so that‘s why I give it 3 ⭐️‘s. Book 5/52 #52booksayearchallenge
I just could not get into this book.. and I had the same problem with The Guest List by Lucy Foley. I want to love the work but I couldn't get invested... I am going to try The Paris Apartment anyway. Hopefully, it I revisit this book at another time I'll enjoy it.

1. I'm currently reading the tagged book, Crossroads by Franzen on audio in my car, and In My Dreams I Hold a Knife on hardcover.
2. Live in the South East USA and is going to snow!!!! Very rare!
3. In bed with good book and quilt and candles. I also plan to cook a pot of chili tomorrow!
I would have enjoyed this more if I didn‘t feel like I was rereading The Guest List. Still a solid pick!
Excited to get started with this! What s perfect way to spend my day off!
Enjoyed this one. I feel like this is a mix of One by One and The Guest List but I still loved the thrill of the story. A good way to kick of the head! It also checks two challenge boxes! #19822022 #2018 #booked2022 #setinalodge
Loved it! Foley can really weave a mystery - unlikable characters, remote location, red herrings, and I love how she doesn‘t reveal killer or victim until very late in the story.
#bookspinbingo - set on New Year‘s Eve (got 3 bingos and cleared the board! 🥳🥳🥳)

Happy New Year, all y‘all!!‘ I am calling this #BookspinBingo for December. Picked up my #Bookspin and #Doublespin along with a couple of #BookspinBingo completions. I started The Hunting Party this morning and finished it this afternoon. Foley knows how to create a suspenseful atmosphere with morally grey characters. Her endings feel a little too pat, but I enjoyed this virtual visit to Scotland for New Year‘s Eve! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Well this was fun! A classic murder mystery in an isolated location in the Scottish Highlands. Great characters to hate, fast paced writing and a plot that kept me guessing till the end. Just the sorta fluff my harangued brain needed right now. 😆 👍
This book was ok. It read fast; it was a little reminiscent of a Christopher Pike young adult book where the craziest explanation proved the author‘s truth.
I liked this one! Perfect New Year's book ... unless you're going to an out-of-the way place with old friends. I always have to pick up the old friends have secrets and get together books! It's a thing.

Sometimes I read or watch something about a really tight-knit group of friends and I wish I had that. Then I read something like The Hunting Party and I think "Nah, I'm good, thanks". This novel is a very slow burn on the murder-y bits, but quick to show how these 14-year old friendships have devolved into cattiness, resentment & hate. Nine friends are at a Lodge in the Scottish Highlands for an annual New Year Holiday & early on someone dies. ⬇️
This is my favorite type of mystery book. A modern Agatha Christie. Not bloody/gory, not too many jump scenes or scary/wild villains, just a mystery about when things go wrong in a group of friend over NYE… and someone ends up dead. 😉 I couldn‘t predict the killer, but I also am notoriously bad at predictions!
8/10 will definitely keep reading this author
I may have grab a "few" books from the library today... ?
I‘m a teacher with a lot to do so going to post as much as I can right now for my match. 😅 Here is some spooky or thrillers that I have enjoyed. #HHS @wanderinglynn
Meh...I loved The Guest List. This one, not so much; maybe because it was the same characters or the setting of a lodge in a snow storm.
Mildly enjoyable isolated manor murder mystery. There were no twists to it, and I didn‘t have heaps of empathy even for the characters we were supposed to like.
I liked this but in a way it's almost too similar to her other book. I feel like I'm being too critical as other authors definitely do that. It's just that I expected something more.
July book 3:
Close to a so-so if only bc it was not as good as The Guest List and very similar in many ways.
Things I liked: Foley's shtick where who died is as much the mystery as who killed them; how motives are revealed (everyone has one... Or two...)
Things that were meh: more red herrings in this than others of her books, I found most twists predictable, overall weirdness in parts.
Book 68🎧
Well I did not see that coming!👏🏻
Another nail biter from Lucy Foley!🩸🖤 I liked The Guest List but I see why everyone is more drawn to this one!
I love how she wraps everything up at the end of her books, no unanswered questions🙌🏻
I was a little hesitant picking this one up after reading The Guest List but this was an excellent murder mystery that kept me intrigued the entire time. Don't judge an author by the first book you read!

The wilderness of the Scottish highlands is brought to life in this mystery where a group of old university friends got together for a New Year‘s Eve holiday. There are quite a lot of characters, with multiple POVs but they are all awful people. The author kept me guessing not just the identity of the killer but the victim as well. Nicely done. Formulaic plot but moves at a good pace, and reveals a few twists. Overall an enjoyable read.
Very similar format to The Guest List: large cast of characters (ahem..suspects) gathered for a celebration. Suddenly, something goes wrong. A person is dead. The timeline becomes shuffled as we learn of present and past events until all is revealed. I was a little disappointed at the lack of originality with the plot format, but was entertained with the story.
“Funny, that we live in a world now where lack of connectivity might be advertised as a feature in itself.”

Fantastic! An in-depth look at what keeps old friends connected and what happens when secrets are kept behind closed doors. This story brings to light how easy it is to hide destructive behaviour and what happens when it isn‘t talked about.

Can‘t believe it‘s been 5 years! Thank you Litsy for such wonderful people and so many book suggestions.
It amazes me how Lucy Foley can make a setting as big as any of the characters.
I have gotten so much crap for dealing with life this way. #JoysofJune
My goals for #JoysofJune is to simply read when I want, and what I want, with no mindset of challenge goals being met. I want to enjoy outdoor reading. I am not setting an amount of books or hours, as I know I will be preparing kids for camps and chaos will be sure to come. I just want to focus on taking joy in relaxing with a book. Not my typical goals but exactly what I need for me. @Andrew65
Just reading with my cat, Sophie. She wasn‘t amused by the picture. 😆😻📚❤️ #catsoflitsy
