Probably not what you‘d describe as #ALittlePriest but Ralph De Bricassart was definitely a priest in Colleen McCullough‘s epic novel.

I had to go back to find a good juicy romantic epic. Any other suggestions for me? ( not Outlander I‘ve already given that one a go) Thanks!

marleed Ohh, it looks like you don‘t necessarily need a currently written book. There‘s the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy. 4mo
Skeebies05 @marleed I LOVE old books! They have a level of drama I miss from contemporary books sometimes. 4mo

I was going to show my plethora of cookbooks from chefs from #DownUnder 😋🥄(I have multiple cookbooks from Jill Dupleix, Kylie Kwong, Curtis Stone, Bill Granger & Donna Hay) but because there are so many, instead I went with a handful of fiction titles that are set in Australia. Of course The Thorn Birds is the grande dame of my shelves ever since I read my mom's copy one high school summer before the miniseries came out. 💛

CarolynM Nice cook book selection🙂 5mo

1. Late spring-early summer ("White nights" in St. Petersburg - the time when the evening twilight merges with the morning, and the night darkness doesn't come) ?
2. I love roses, violets, tulips, peonies, daisies, gladiolus,... ????

SailorMoon Thanks for playing!!! 💕🤟🏻🌙 I had no idea about the white nights... they sound so beautiful and romantic, I hope I'll have the chance to experience one eventually! And The Thorn Birds is my mom's favourite book!!! I'll have to read it sooner or later!!! 8mo
Erofan @SailorMoon Thanks for the great Friday challenges! 💕😘 8mo
SailorMoon Btw fun fact (I'm marking it as spoiler since not all of us have read it probably!): I did watch the series with Chamberlain with my parents, but I had no idea of the ending. I spent like Ikd 16h maybe seriously conviced that they would end up together in the end. When he died, I started crying because I was SO MAD at the author for making Chamberlain's character so selfish 🤣 8mo
See All 6 Comments
Erofan @SailorMoon Yeah! When I was a teenager, I watched this miniseries with my parents too, and I couldn't understand Chamberlain's character! I didn't understand how a man could love God more than a beloved woman! To be honest, I still don't understand this, although I respect religion! 8mo
BiblioLitten White nights sound magical! Russia is my husband‘s dream destination and his enthusiasm is infectious. 😁 8mo

Pickpick

I finished this last night and haven‘t felt like I could articulate a review. I loved the generational scope and how we got a large chunk of the lives of the Cleary family. I felt some of the religious aspect was drawn out and tedious. I felt it difficult to not get irritated with the characters and their decisions. I actually probably liked Justine the most. Her caustic demeanor reminded me of a more forward thinking Scarlett O‘Hara. #thornbirds

Mdargusch I felt like the Justine part almost seemed like a separate book. 2y
Reviewsbylola Yes, and I was so excited at the start of that section but then I felt once again the religious stuff got in the way. 🤷🏼‍♀️ @Mdargusch 2y
Caroline2 Yes, I must admit I started skim reading the religious stuff! Wayyy too much of it! 2y
