And so my Ghengis Khan adventure comes to an end. I have loved reading this series and have learnt so much about the Khan Dynasty. The books were brilliantly written.
This series is an absolute must read for any historical fiction lover (although these books were quite close to true-history). Absolute 5 star!

Nute My favorite kind of reading: reading for pleasure and a simultaneous learning experience!👍🏽😀 2w
Yoricke_SouthAfrica @Nute I could not have said it any better. It's been a few days since I've finished the series, and I still find myself thinking about Mongolia and the Khans 🤔 2w

This is the 3rd book in the Khan Series. I can honestly say that I have been hooked from book one. This story has just gotten better, and I constantly had to remind myself that most of what was written, actually happened. This author has a unique gift for turning historical events into a truly magnificent adventure. I feel very honoured to have read this great story.

I'm knee-deep into the Ghengis adventure. Wow, what an amazing tale of a visionary and a brute, all in one.
The author has done a magnificent job in writing this series. The research alone that has gone into ensuring this story stays true to the original, is remarkable. Absolute 5 star writing.

The Turn of Midnight | Minette Walters

This is the Part 2 in Minette Walters' Black Death Series. Oh, what a wonderfully, brilliant read this was. A historical fiction book, set in the 14th Century, Old England. The author has a phenomenal way with character development, and I could not read this series fast enough. She adapted the language to match the time, and, as a reader, I got lost in this wonderful tale of loss, courage and survival.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author has a magnificent way of developing the characters and the story takes you on a journey back into the 14th Century in such a well-told manner, it's as if you are part of it. I have already started Part II, The Turning of Midnight, as I just can get enough of this great Tale of The Black Death.

What a phenomenal book this was! I have read quite a few books on the topic of the Holocaust, but this is by far the absolute best book of it's kind I have ever read. What makes this book even more distinguishable is the fact that it is a True Story, every fact, every event, every chapter all really happened. It's a history book, written in a novel form, and an absolute must read. I feel honour to have read this amazing story.

I'm about halfway through this book, and so far, this must be one of the best Holocaust books I have ever read. It tells the true story of a father and son that survived the Holocaust. This book is both heart warming and heart wrenching, all at the same time. One starts one with a faint dislike for the main character, Eleanor. The story moves that feeling to a strong "falling in love", and before you know it, your heart is broken. But, like any great story, the ending leaves you wanting more...
I truly enjoyed this book!

What a wonderful surprise, this book was. I absolutely loved and enjoyed every word I read. It is a very detailed, thoughtful and smartly written book that will leave you wanting more. I'm still on a "Circe-High". Wow!

ImperfectCJ I loved this one, too! The audiobook is fantastic, and now I want to read the print book. 4mo
Yoricke_SouthAfrica @ImperfectCJ I started with The Song of Achilles (actual book), which is apparently the pre-book to Circe. It was also a brilliant book. I can highly recommend it as well. 4mo
ImperfectCJ @Yoricke_SouthAfrica I read (and loved) Song of Achilles, too, in ebook format. Funny, I hadn't thought of it as a pre-book to Circe, but if you look at the Trojan War/The Iliad as a precursor to The Odyssey, the Song of Achilles-Circe progression makes sense. 4mo
See All 6 Comments
Yoricke_SouthAfrica @ImperfectCJ I read it in that order on guidance from book groups, and found the referencing to the Trojan War and Odysseus' role in the war in Circe quite useful (especially as I read it back-to-back). Both books are definitely books I will read again. I think I might have discovered a new love for Greek mythology. 4mo
ImperfectCJ @Yoricke_SouthAfrica My children love mythology (Greek, Roman, Norse...whatever they can get their hands on), so I've been exposed to a fair bit through them but have just been getting into it for myself recently. I didn't realize how complex and multi-faceted Greek mythology is. So many intertwining layers. 4mo
