June Makle AKA Syedha Shakur grew up in Ellicott City, MD. FEBRUARY is a story of a teen-aged girl who had her childhood stolen from her, when she got raped by the popular neighborhood jock. The story is based on real life events that occurred; however, the names have been changed to protect the identities of those involved. Unfortunately, many teen-aged girls are raped by people they know and trust; but, never tell anyone what has happened to them. Likewise, those who have committed these types of offenses arent brought to justice; however, they have created children which they in turn deny (do not acknowledge as their own). Ultimately, children who have been created through such offenses grow up living with the shame of the reality of how they were created. FEBRUARY has been written to help heal the wounds of those Women and Children who have had to live with this reality. Ms. Makle is currently developing a website for children who have been denied by their parents so that they will have a forum to release their pain and shame; and, be able to live peaceful, happy, and productive lives.

My listening recap for February.

I completed 16 books, all of which were from the library...I seriously love the library🥰😍

I had 2 DNFs for the month, A Place for Vanishing by Ann Fraistat...and The Antiquity Affair by Lee Kelly & Jennifer Thorne.

MY total time spent listening for the month was 163 Hours 16 Mins...after speeding the audio up I averaged it out to about 80 hours total. My top genre was Thriller with Mystery a close second.

A difficult month for many reasons, but did manage to somehow finish 20 books. A much higher proportion than normal of audiobooks, 11 of the 20.

My favourite book was The Women by Kristin Hannah. What was your favourite read in February?

Today, I‘m sharing the books I read in February and the movies I watched. In February, I decided to start watching movies on Friday nights again because I like watching movies but I don‘t watch them very often. I didn‘t like the first book I read this month. I bailed on 2 books because they weren‘t for me but I liked the other books I read and I liked the movies I watched. I feel like I chose some good movies to watch.

February was a very up and down month, especially the second half of it.

Read 19 books but went from 399 pages a day in January to 250 in February, that‘s a big difference!

suvata I keep blaming my slump on the fact that it was a short month. LOL 13mo
Andrew65 @suvata Not sure what‘s to blame for my second half of February. Let‘s blame being in the midst of Winter. 13mo
suvata @Andrew65 Yep, that works too. But I can‘t blame it on that because I live in Florida. 13mo

Ridiculous start to #fabulousfebruary with six hours of pediatrician (kiddo‘s raging ear infection is now a raging DOUBLE ear infection) and trying to find a pharmacy to fill the new antibiotics prescription and then have the dr change the prescription because nobody can get the other one…but during the #readathon I hope to finish Dear Martin, catch up on Middlemarch, keep up with Plato at the Googleplex, and read one other book. 🤞🏻

wanderinglynn Oh no! That really sucks. I hope your kiddo feels better soon. 💚 13mo

kspenmoll I hope your little one is healing now. 13mo
ravenlee @wanderinglynn @DivineDiana @Megabooks @Andrew65 @TheBookHippie @kspenmoll thank you all for the positive energy. Kiddo is FINALLY off the antibiotics and seems just fine. Still busy as can be, but getting back to normal. 13mo
TheBookHippie @ravenlee UGH I had that as a child so severe but I‘m allergic to antibiotics so it was a real struggle. I still have panic attacks thinking about it!! Poor thing. I feel for ya! 13mo
ravenlee @TheBookHippie you‘re allergic to antibiotics?! Oh my goodness! My mom is very allergic to penicillin and all its family members, and I‘m sensitive to amoxycillin, so I was really nervous about her being on augmentin (which I didn‘t know was amoxycillin). Luckily, she doesn‘t seem to have inherited my drug reactions, which is a big relief, especially given her recent experiences. 13mo
TheBookHippie @ravenlee I‘m allergic to-are ya ready?!- ALLLL the cillins penicillin amoxicillin Clindamycin… Valium, codeine, Tylenol, Benadryl, ascorbic acid & derivatives, hydrocodone, benzodiazepines, I think that‘s it..😝😵‍💫😅 13mo
ravenlee @TheBookHippie yowzers! I have a hard enough time being allergic to Tylenol and sensitive to amoxycillin! Do you constantly get the “nobody is allergic to Tylenol! It‘s the universal painkiller!” like I do? You must be a medical expert just to work on your own behalf. 13mo
TheBookHippie @ravenlee I am an expert and yes both my kids also allergic to Tylenol- ppl are you sure- um yes we are sure!!! Oh- did you see the recent connection to autism with Tylenol? I‘m going to see what it is or if it‘s just conspiracy … 13mo
